WHO IS J. GAUTHIER? AN UPDATE

By Michael B. Brodkorb | May 11, 2008

[kml_flashembed movie="http://minnesotademocratsexposed.com/FrankenSignatureComparison.swf" height="100%" width="100%" /]

Back in the end of March, I asked about J. Gauthier. Gauthier’s name was on a registered mail receipt from a letter sent to Al Franken in New York regarding Franken’s failure to provide workers’ compensation insurance for his employees.

Several sources of Minnesota Democrats Exposed have indicated to me that the last name signature on the a Boys and Girls Club contract that contained Al Franken’s signature and the signature on the certified letter sent to Al Franken’s apartment regarding the workers’ compensation scandal had some striking similarities.

I have put both signatures side-by-side for your review. The one on the left is the Boys and Girls Club contract that has Franken’s signature and the one on the left is the signature underneath the printed name of J.Gauthier.

Please click on the picture for a larger version.

Team Franken continues to remain silent on the status of the more than dozen letters sent to his apartment by the state of New York, including the whereabouts of the certified letter that was received by J. Gauthier.

The graphic on the top of this post is an overlay of the two documents. The signatures look very similar. Please leave your thoughts about the signatures in the comment section of this post.

Please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed for more information on this developing story.

MDE — once again, kudos to you for this fine piece of investigative work.

    Keep up the great work.

If it’s not a plight, a problem, a predicament, and if Franken’s in a pickle.

It looks like MDE & Coleman, and Franken, are lining up to play: Pickle in the Middle.

    Senator Clark -
Get the campaign for U.S Senate fired up.
    Franken is toast.

MDE, CNN is on the line for a hand writing analysis in the DC madam suicide. Please pick up the phone…

You don’t need a hand writing analysis to see Franken is probably either making up J. Gauthier or forged the signature of J. Gauthier. This goes directly to character. Well done as usual, Michael. I do believe J. Gauthier doesn’t exist or is the victim of forgery. Let’s just lay it on the table. Can we get some serious candidates now? Franken can’t possibly enter the general election with a cloud of this magnitude over his head. The reluctance to introduce J. Gauthier, the quickly produced Monitha Benison letter with no explanation, the unlikely explanations for evading fines in New York, the scapegoating of Allen Chanzis. All this not only raises flags for Al as a candidate but as a businessman who did business with him I’d certainly question any transaction I did based in any way on trust.

    Michael;
    Wolf Wolf
Maybe Ron will borrow you some of the cash he put aside from the MNGOP pension fund and you could hire a handwriting expert.
    That’ll do Sheeple that’ll do

Is Norm a big fan of country music?

“You don’t need a hand writing analysis to see Franken is probably either making up J. Gauthier or forged the signature of J. Gauthier.”

    Actually, you do.

This is nothing more than a baseless “throw it against the wall and see if it sticks” attack that this site has become infamous for.

  8. Chestnut Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 6:59 AM

Interesting, but not conclusive. Just add this to the long list of reasons why Al Franken is a lying, cheating, scum sucking jerk.

By the way, is the Boys and Girls club contract the same contract Al Franken used when he stole millions from a kids charity?

  9. Just Sayin' Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 7:20 AM

Anyone that signs their name in a sloppy indecipherable way is suspect to begin with. Why would you ever sign that way? How does J.’s sig even resemble “J. Gauthier”? The fact that both Franken and “J. Gauthier” sign in this way speaks volumes.
The fact that Gauthier’s sig resembles Franken’s sig more than it resembles “J. Gauthier” is also significant. What letter is that if not an “F”?

  10. Average Joe Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 7:45 AM

This is nothing more than a baseless “throw it against the wall and see if it sticks” attack that this site has become infamous for.

    Oh, you mean like this:

Who was the man Norm was seen cruising the DC bars with last year?

You guys are the KING of baseless, “throw it against the wall” attacks.

  11. MakeThePostCount Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 7:47 AM

Whoa Nellie! My guess is that the easiest solution to this mess for Franken is to just come out and tell people who Gauthier is. If he’s some innocent bystander in Franken’s efforts to cover his tracks the decent thing for Franken to do is just come clean. Of all the things that Franken has been hiding this looks like a no-brainer — tell people who Gauthier is, why he signed the letter and just move the heck on.

Oops, I forget, he still needs to say where all the letters are.

  12. MItch Berg Says:

“This is nothing more than a baseless “throw it against the wall and see if it sticks” attack that this site has become infamous for”

Famous – because he’s right so very, very often.

“You don’t need a hand writing analysis to see Franken is probably either making up J. Gauthier or forged the signature of J. Gauthier”

Alternate possibility: J Gauthier made “Al Franken” up, and has been running an elaborate masquerade for the past 35 years.

  13. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 8:08 AM

Go with that, Mitch – it’s the stuff that’s made the small tent, smaller.

  14. jay Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 8:16 AM

Angry Al has to produce his accountant and this J Gauthier. He also has to give them liberty to speak about this scandal if he wants to put it behind him.

  15. Sam Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 8:39 AM

    Michael,
As a conservative I ask that you please stop the attacks on Al.

If this is wrong, it lessens the impact of other stories you will run.

If this points to something else (as I suspect) then this may be the final nail in Al’s coffin.
Al is one of the weakest candidates they could have run. Please declare a truce until it is too late for them to replace Al.

  16. fry Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 8:47 AM

MDE – I have to agree with Sam. Franken dropping out or getting defeated at the DFL convention would be the worst option for our side right now.

I think their convention is in June, just lay low until filings close.

  17. Pat Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 9:19 AM

I’m sorry, but those don’t look at all similar.

Stick to political topics and leave the handwriting analysis to experts.

  18. Chestnut Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 9:21 AM

    J. Gauthier is probably the doorman to the building Franken calls his home NYC. Still, would be a good idea for Franken to ID this individual as such.

As is, J. Gauthier is joins Monifa Benison on the list of folks Franken has thrown under the bus.

… Hey Tommy, speaking of small tents… who other then anti-American socialists, eco-terrorists and baby killers fits in to the DFL these days? That’s one small fucking tent if you ask me.

  19. Swiftee Says:

“Maybe Ron will borrow you some of the cash he put aside from the MNGOP pension fund and you could hire a handwriting expert.”

Maybe someone will [loan] HCDFL some cash to hire a remedial English teacher.

    That’ll do, dolt #3; that’ll do
    ============

In all seriousness, a handwriting expert is called for here. I’m guessing one already has been.

  20. Just Sayin' Says:

    Sam,
Coming late into a race means nothing. It may help. Look at Arne Carlson

  21. Just Sayin' Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 10:00 AM

Franken is going for the victim angle – poor me – Republicans beating me up etc. I’m willing to concede he might pull it off only because MN Republicans are very polite and sometimes too nice

  22. D Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 11:21 AM

For those people who are worried about Franken quiting…dream on. Angry Al is the most egotistical, self-absorbed, self-centered candidate in our nation’s history. He’s a New Yorker…its in their blood.

Even if the DFL robots endorse another candidate, he’ll run in the primary. Its all about Al.

  23. Paul Rozycki Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 11:46 AM

There is no indication that Franken is unscrupulous. This is very sad.
Now Michael, are you sure you want to keep this up? I advise you to stop now. What if the Democrats endorse Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer? You won’t be able to touch him; his life has always been squeeky clean.

Your guy Norm Coleman will lose, and you will have been credited with bringing a real Democrat with political courage who people can vote for that they can really believe in into the Senate.

  24. Chestnut Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 11:55 AM

“What if the Democrats endorse Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer? You won’t be able to touch him; his life has always been squeeky clean.”

Yeah, except that he’s a socialist who hates America.

  25. Swiftee Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 12:22 PM

“There is no indication that Franken is unscrupulous.”

    Let’s recap.

It comes to light that Al Franken’s employer, Air America radio, has been paying him (Al) with money it bilked a children’s charity of.

Al says he didn’t know anything about it.

A lengthy legal document surfaces, detailing how the charity will be reimbursed, with Al’s signature on it.

Al then says he didn’t read this lengthy legal document, a document that had a financial impact on him, before he signed it.

Al incorporates a tax shelter. It comes to light that this tax shelter is completely bungled and owes taxes and fines in at least 17 states.

Al says it’s all a big surprise to him.

So, Paul; if Al isn’t unscrupulous, then he’s one of the stupidest people I’ve ever heard of.

    Which is it?

I, for one would be happy to see JNP on the Democrat ticket. Campaigning an unabashed socialist openly and honestly would be a real novelty, and a treat to watch.

  26. walter hanson Says:
    May 12th, 2008 at 1:05 PM

    Sam:

Keep in mind Arnie Carlson didn’t exactly enter the race late. In 1990 he had run for the Republican endorsement and lost in the primary. He had already run a statewide campaign. And even before he was made the Republican candidate for governor there was movement to do a write in campaign for him. Furthermore when the Repbulican party was selecting in 1990 just like the DFL was selecting in 2002 with a short window both parties looked for a candidate with instant credibility that can win a state wide race.

the candidates that get in will run in the primary and if they’re credible will have a few months of time to campaign and win.

During the Salem witch hunts, I mean. — But I apologize for interrupting the sniveling about your fellow Americans, oh, I mean, evil Democrats. Re-commence wailing, whining and finger-pointing, my oh-so-strong, moral Republican friends. By all means, show us The Way and The Light, like you have for the last 8 years. Truly, thanks for turning the clock back in America about 75 years.

The State GOP messed up once by pushing Entenza out a few years ago, and they are about to do it again by pushing Franken out.

And I don’t care how much money Entenza had, he was the horse we could have beat on for six months. As soon as he was gone, the GOP had nothing. And I doubt they have any back up plans should Franken take a seat.

Hey, franken (cheney)ed up. Everyone knows that. What is amazing is how the bootlickers are jumpin’ all over Franken, while ignorin’ republiCon Ron’s “stewardship” of the Republican Party of Minnesota.

Michael’s drip-drip-drip on Franken, only opens up the drip-drip-drip on republiCon Ron. But, republiCon Ron actually has FEC Reports to peruse.

People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

  37. Sam Says:

I agree with you TPT – neither Franken or Ron should be Senator.

  38. Chris Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 10:57 AM

    Two Putz,

There is a difference between the DFL and the GOP. If at the end of the audit process the FEC has determined that Ron Carey has broken the law, most Republicans will certainly say it’s not a good idea for him to continue as chairman. Your party knows Franken has repeatedly had serious legal problems and you’re going to run him anyway.

It’s sort of like the difference between Nixon and Clinton. The Republican party circled the wagon and shot within (ie. told Nixon to resign). The Democrats circled the wagon and fired at the people charging the wagon (ie. defended Clinton to the very end). It’s exactly the same thing you do every day, Two Putz.
