Sheila Kiscaden, District 30, was a Republican for years, then a short time as an Independent, then a short time as a Democrat.

Well that pretty much says it all. For the left politics is a religion.

Still to Rose's point why no fuss about Judi Dutcher and Dean Johnson.

It seems to me that that people would change religious affiliation, before they'd change their political affiliation.

Let's say that in round figures, nationally about 50% of the people elegible to vote, do vote.

That means that in a national election 23-27% vote Republican, and 25=27% vote democratic.

With about 50% of the population not voting, about 25% + a few more determine who will be elected in a national election.

Jesse Ventura beat out Norm Coleman, and Skip Humphrey in essentially a three-way race.

Thousands left because the DFL turned into a nut house? It is just a stupid political party?

I think that you'd better check out some of your indignation.

Who cares about switching parties. There are thousands of us that left the DFL when it turned into a left wing nut house.

You act as though it is a religion, I guess for many of you it is! But get over it. It is just a stupid political party. I'd switch again tomorrow to another one if those values better represented mine.

How come no one seems to mind about Judi Dutcher and Dean Johnson who used to be Republicans?

Your indignation is rather hollow.

This is rich! Michael Brodkorb, in his zeal to defeat the Democrat (Franken) who he thought was inevitable, but beatable, has made the space for a Democrat that matches up well with Norm Coleman. Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer will beat Norm in the election.
Jack is likely to defeat Norm as Jesse did in the general election for the same reason. Jesse was authentic; so is Jack. For both, what you see is what you get. They are both consistently who they are. (Norm, as you recall, was a Democrat, then he became a Republican, then he became a right wing Republican, then he became a moderate Republican...)
Jesse won because he is a straight shooter. I didn't always think what he said made a whole lot of sense, but I believe voters like straight talk, not campaign speaches in answer to debate questions. Jesse slaughtered Norm and Skip in the debates.
Now Jack will essentially present the same problem for Norm. He's tremendous as a debater. He is a straight talker. He, like Jesse, isn't afraid to say what he thinks. Like Jesse, people may not always agree with him, but they will like that he will not be treating them like objects to manipulate into voting for them.

I remember flying back and forth from Washington DC to Minneapolis for work during Boschwitz's reign.....he considered each Friday trip back a captive audience and would work the flight before heading back to first class to sit. Didn't impress me.

I agree with MplsSteve regarding Boschwitz's campaign. Because he was 20 points ahead in September he basically spent his time in DC, not MN. Coleman is aggressive, he has lost once before (Ventura) and, by all accounts I hear from both DFL and GOP pundits, he is a voracious campaigner.

I do think Pallmeyer is trying to be the reincarnation of Wellstone. He is using the same colors on his campaign literature--no doubt we will see the green bus pretty soon.

Jack is an intelligent and well-spoken man.

Having said that, he is also a raving looney-toons ultra-liberal.

I can't picture him repeating what Wellstone did in 1990. The Boschwitz campaign ran on sheer arrogance and laziness. Trust me, I knew a number of people who worked on that campaign. Coleman won't make the same mistakes that Boschwitz did.
