LIBERAL BLOGGER: FRANKEN’S CAMPAIGN “STILL HAS ALL THE APPEAL OF A WINDOW SEAT ON THE HINDENBURG”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | May 13, 2008

Christopher Truscott was Ashwin Madia’s spokesman/press secretary during his campaign for the DFL endorsement in the 3rd CD.

###

“In the interest of full disclosure, I thought the very notion of Al Franken for U.S. Senate was absurd from the beginning and I did support the ill-fated candidacy of Mike Ciresi.

That said, I accepted that Franken was the likely DFL nominee from the moment he entered the race and hoped he would prove he has what it takes to beat Norm Coleman.

Unfortunately, however, this campaign still has all the appeal of a window seat on the Hindenburg.

To use a more contemporary analogy: Franken may have ruled on Saturday Night Live, but he is not ready for Dancing with the Stars. He is absolutely not ready for prime time.

The attacks on his writings and comedy routines were lame, foreseeable and, to a degree, manageable. But the problems with his business and tax dealings could have been discovered and dealt with before he entered the race and weren’t. It’s only May. What’s next?

You can accuse me of overreacting, fine. But I don’t recall anyone—myself included—predicting anything even resembling a headline like ‘Franken pays $70,000 back taxes, penalties.’ Are there anymore surprises coming? Does anyone really believe the Republicans fired their best shot in April?

We have less than a month before the DFL convention in Rochester. At this writing, it looks like Franken will win the endorsement handily. While avoiding a bruising floor fight is desirable, is getting Franken as the leader of the DFL ticket what we really want—what we really need?” Source: Christopher Truscott, May 13, 2008

“Does anyone really believe the Republicans fired their best shot in April?”

    Yep. Sure do.

And that desperate attempt to take Franken out, before he got the endorsement, completely backfired as now Ron Carey will tarnish each and every GOP candidate from now until election day.

A more intriguing bet than “Will Franken Get The DFL Endorsement In June?” is “Will Ron Carey Survive The GOP Convention In May?”

When I was on a Minnesota farm, people didn’t seem to pick cucumbers, they picked “pickles,” [similar to Peter Piper, who picked a peck of "pickled peppers."]

    Franken is in a pickle.

The NormAl [Norm + Al] Show is where two native New Yorkers and/or their supporters throw stuff at each other.

This does not get to debate and discussion on the important issues.

    Say, dolt #1?

I’d stick to impersonating wounded combat veterans and assisting asshatted leftist candidates ‘man up’, if I were you.

Your mad pundit skillz need a lot of work; go with what you’re good at.

Say, “el p”? 3M doesn’t have any manufacturing facilities in NY, does it?

    Swiftee,

    Quite a fine tactic.

Don’t vote for Norm, because of BushieMcHitler and Ron Carey.

But please ignore all the foibles of Angry Al, that he PERSONALLY committed.

Oh, that will work in November. Norm by 10 points and growing…

  6. FiercelyIndependent Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 12:36 PM

Swiftee – how much of a fine did your campaign violation result in?

Why is it that since Republicans kicked the Independents out, the GOP has become a party of crooks?

  7. ManGenius Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 12:45 PM

Fierce, there is a party without crooks?

If you find one clue me in.

This “I may be a screw up but he is a bigger screw up” arguments on both sides is dragging the whole process down.

“Vote for me, I stole less than he did!”

  8. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 1:05 PM

NotSoSwiftly got fined, for a campaign violation?

    Imagine that.

  9. el presidente Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 1:28 PM

Perhaps Swiftee was fined by el presidente for writing him too making silly questions, in the manner of writing statements, and then tacking on some words at the end of those statements, converting them to somewhat awkward questions – do you think?

Hi puddles. :) How many names did you post under today?

Why is it that when Swiftee askes you about your wounded combat status you just ignore it? ;) Do you really hope no one will realize the kind of scumbag you are and how you will lie and change subjects to try and make your posts make sense. Not to mention getting totally busted on other blogs as posting under other names and writing things like ” you should see what twoputttommy wrote at”… ;)

What a pathetic cry for attention puddles. ;) Still hoping to become that important figure in MN politics? ;)

  11. Swiftee Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 2:03 PM

Are you talking about the one I lodged against the SPPS and their leftist PAC?

No fine. They just had to return the district taxpayers money. Maybe it got used for the students, but somehow I doubt it.

    Say “el p”?

Why would anyone find 3M questions awkward? 3M is a fine Minnesota company that produces a wide variety of highly useful products.

They also employ thousands of people, some of whom live in St. Paul.

    Way to go, TypicalFrightenedRightWingNutGuy!!!

  13. Swiftee Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 2:51 PM

Hey, BK. You should see if you can get little Combat Infantry Badge icons to replace the :-) ’s when you mock dolt #1.

  14. Big Kahuna Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 3:17 PM

I keep wondering why he tries to ignore your calls about his lying about his military record? ;) He seems to like to act like those words are not there. ;)

C’mon puddles, we want more of a rise out of you knowing what a cheat and liar you have been PROVEN to be.

How about all the other names you got busted using on other blogs to try and guide some traffic to your shit blog?

Tommyboy you are slipping! Lately your only come back is “the small tent is gettin smaller”. Somehow that is going to bother someone? ;) You need the party of a “big tent” because you are so far out of mainstream, no real party would have anything to do with you.

Crist, you looked so giddy to meet Ron Carey I thought you were going to drop to your knees right there. Poor puddles, still stunned with the realization no one will ever take as a serious political figure here in MN.

Even some at the democRat Underground think you are a loon! That is really saying something there puddles. ;)

    Hey Flounder,

Back to being the top Leftist Stooge again? Congratulations.

  16. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 4:14 PM

    Go with that, Rash Disptick.

But, ask yourself – does havin’ republiCon Ron as the top Party Official help, or hinder, your party’s candidates this cycle?

Personally, I hope ya keep the guy. He’s a convenient target to point to, as to why GOP now stands for GreedOverPrinciples.

38 Amended Reports, in the last 3 days, and republiCon Ron is gonna throw stones??!?

Pathetic. Your party is truly pathetic.

  17. Swiftee Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 4:19 PM

    Say, dolt#1?

Do you think it would help if Ron claimed he was a wounded Vietnam veteran…just like you?

Do you have a spare Combat Infantry badge, or if not, can you e-mail Ron a link to the website where you got yours?

You two could tour the state, just makin’ it up as you go!

Saaaay, I know. Maybe Ron could claim to have been in Cambodia with you and John “and there I was” Kerry…behind enemy lines, nothin’ but our K-Bars and our grit…right, dolt #1? Right?

  18. Swiftee Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 4:20 PM

Try googling “Thomas Johnson Military fraud”.

  19. Big Kahuna Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 4:24 PM

Puddles, are you not going to acknowlege you have been caught lying about your military service record? ;) Funny you claim the GOP is Greed over principals, yet you clearly demonstrait those traits here daily, perhaps it really is the democRats who stand for greed over principles?

None the less tommy, you lie about your military record, busted lying about being all the other posting names you use and somehow we should take anything you say as something that deserves an answer? You crack me up dolt # 1.

Talk about pathetic tommy, why do you lie about your service record? Why did you lie about the church you have an axe to grind with? Why do you lie about posting under different names? Why do you lie about sending letters to other states about Norm? The lies just keep stacking up puddles and I think it is funny you try to act like no one knows these things about you. :)

How about the VFW you USED to be able to hang out at. Rumor is puddles you have not been seen in ther for some time now. Guess a WW2 vet embarrassed you so much you cannot show your face?

Then puddles, we should prbably look at your financials, something tells me you are also lying to the government to get your check as well. ;)

I look forward to meet8ing you one day puddles, it will happen and I will laugh right in your face while you stand looking at your shoe tips hoping I do not call you out on that threat you made about having me lick your jump boots. Good God, you probably never jumped from a plane either, the lies with you are never ending.

B.K.-remember though, that twoputt doesn`t have to answer those kinds of questions, because in most posts he over-punctuates !!!? !!! That takes the place of reasoned response!!!!?!!

About 53% (37 of 70) of the passengers on the Hindenburg SURVIVED.

Perhaps there is enough information known, to figure out if it is probable that a majority of those surviving, had tickets for WINDOW SEATS.

There probably are plenty of definitions and opinions as to what is “appealing.”

  22. TwoPuttTommy Says:
    May 13th, 2008 at 8:08 PM

    Say, jimf?

I don’t have to answer any questions, PERIOD.

  23. Wade Seeker Says:

Gee Flounder, did you get that advise from F’n Kerry after he refused to sign the 180 form and clear up his real record after the swifties showed what a lier he is ?

” I don’t have to answer any questions, PERIOD.”
