COLEMAN FOR U.S. SENATE PRESS RELEASE: COLEMAN CAMPAIGN: “FRANKEN HAS HID FROM THE TRUTH TOO LONG ON WORKERS’ COMPENSATION SCANDAL”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | May 28, 2008

“’I’ll tell you what a satirist does,’ [Franken] says. ‘A satirist sees the hypocrisies and absurdities in the world and cuts through the baloney to get to the truth. I think that’s good training for the U.S. Senate. Don’t you?’” 7:32 (Andrew Romano, “Getting To Know You,” Newsweek, September 17, 2007)

A pattern of hiding from the truth under the guise of “satire” is beginning to catch up with Al Franken and his campaign, according to Cullen Sheehan, campaign manager for Senator Norm Coleman.

“It’s time to cut through the baloney and get to the truth. The hypocrisy of and absurdity of saying you did not receive more than a dozen pieces of mail, including a certified letter, is baloney. The hypocrisy of not paying your taxes, and then the absurdity of blaming it on your accountant is baloney. When does the baloney end and the truth begin with Franken? When will Franken allow his accountant to speak? When will Franken finally come forward and give us his take on who signed for the certified mail since the doorman is clearly denying that he did? Al Franken claims he values the truth so highly that he uses satire to expose it. If there was ever a need for satire to expose the truth, now is the time for Franken to use it and come forward.”

Sheehan also said that Franken’s repeated failure to allow the media and others access to his accountant, and a greater explanation of Franken’s tax problems, continue to raise concerns about Franken’s credibility. The revelation that Franken’s doorman denies that his signature is on the certified mail receipt for mail sent to Franken only intensifies the need for questions to be answered.

“These allegations could rise to the potential of postal fraud, and clearly need to be investigated,” said Sheehan, “There is really only one way to get to the truth, and that is by conducting a full investigation into who signed the letter, why did they sign it, and what motive did they have for allegedly putting someone else’s name on the certified mail receipt.”

So, Coleman’s decided to quit hiding behind Carey, and fight his own battles?

Cullen Sheehan (according to MDE): “There is really only one way to get to the truth, and that is by conducting a full investigation into who signed the letter, …receipt”
    ————————-
    “…who signed the letter,…”?

What/which letter is Cullen Sheehan referring to?

No, Mike is just putting Norm’s name instead of Ron’s on the press releases he issues hourly. Mikey, which p.r. firm or consultant is paying you for the work you do for Norm? You know, the one that allows you to ensure reporters “I am not being paid by any campaign or party.”

FLS Connect [formerly FLS-DCI] seems to have been in the news lately.

The news I like, is Karl Rove giving the keynote speech for the GOPers in Rochester, this Saturday nite!!!

    Say, Michael?

Thank Ron for arrangin’ that, will ya?

  6. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    May 28th, 2008 at 6:38 PM

Any chance Jeff Larson wrote this press release?

Why is it that McCain has the courage to fire his staffers with ties to Myanmar jaunta supporters FLS-DCI, but Coleman is unwilling to sever ties with the guy who donated his first initial to the company?

Seems to me, Norm’s lack of success, matched with his shady business associations leaves him unfit for office. Perhaps that is what the Rassmussen poll was trying to tell us yesterday.

Karl will be in Rochester this weekend? You should go, he’s a fascinating speaker. I saw him at an event in down town Minneapolis several years ago. He’s an interesting guy, with a great perspective on life… particularly after years of hate and slander from the Left.

… and good Lord Leroy… you are so full of bullshit… unbelievable, unfettered bullshit.

  8. average joe Says:
    May 28th, 2008 at 8:25 PM

Chestnut, that’s an insult to bullshit. It’s several levels more stupid than that.

  9. Cash N. Carey Says:
    May 28th, 2008 at 8:46 PM

Sir Michael, you must have struck a real nerve with the resident liberals tonight. Thank you for giving us the truth. It always brightens my evening to read the libs’ comments. Thanks again!

[It can't be The Letter by the Box Tops, 1967]

Dolts #1, 2 and three….assembled together and babbling a capella.

    Beautiful.

  12. Leroy Jenkins Says:

Any idea if Norm and the state’s other republicans are going to return the money they received from James and Marcus Jundt?

    http://www.startribune.com/local/west/18879834.html

Seems to me, they took quite a bit from a guy who went above accounting errors, and really just fought hard to defraud the government of money so that he could fund more Republicans to look the other way for him.

  13. mndapa1 Says:
    May 28th, 2008 at 9:38 PM

why not find the mail carrier who delivered that piece of mail…Al Franken and his face are too hard to forget.

  14. Swiftee Says:
    May 28th, 2008 at 9:43 PM

Say, Dolt #1? You should have recommended your official forger of military documents to Al.

Forgery really isn’t a do-it-yourself kind of thing, right Dolt #1?

  15. TommyJohnson Says:
    May 28th, 2008 at 9:45 PM

Chestnut, I’m sure Karl is indeed a fascinating speaker, but the point is Karl brings about the same reaction in moderates and liberals that, say, Jane Fonda brings about in conservatives.

Here ol’ Smokescreen is trying to seperate himself from Bush, and Carey brings in Rove?

    We appreciate that!!!

  16. Swiftee Says:
    May 28th, 2008 at 10:09 PM

er, lay off her, that is.

  17. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    May 29th, 2008 at 12:25 AM

The republican party is awash in financial foul-ups that make Al Franken look like an accounting wizard.

Norm Coleman is refusing to return money he accepted from a company formed by the director of his PAC which worked with terrorists in Myanmar.

Republicans statewide are suddenly learning that the huge checks James Jundt and family tossed their way are now also tainted in scandal.

The recent Rasmussen poll show that despite all that has been thrown at Franken, he remains in a dead heat with the incumbent.

I dare say, it is not looking good for the republicans.

  18. el presidente Says:
    May 29th, 2008 at 1:13 AM

~A [swiftee] “dolt” spelled backwards is “told.”
~Cullen Sheehan stated that that there is only one way to get to the truth:
    - Conduct “a full investigation into”:
    1. “Who signed the letter”?
    2. “Why did they sign it”?
    3. “What motive did they have for allegedly putting someone else’s name on the certified mail receipt”?
    ————————-
    What letter?
    Who is “they”?
Was this “letter” signed by more than one person?

  19. Mike Says:
    May 29th, 2008 at 6:14 AM

All is right with the world this is Jesse Ventura’s race to win.

  20. Chestnut Says:
    May 29th, 2008 at 8:10 AM

Yeah, Leroy, because the State Democrats illegally funneling money out state, out right taking bribes, union busting, lying, cheating, stealing… yeah, they have their act together…

    You’re a fucking idiot.

  21. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    May 29th, 2008 at 9:39 AM

    Chestnut-

The difference is, I gave you examples of the actual crimes of your party. You simply suggested that all democrats are crooks because your daddy told you that that is the way things are, and you would hate to have to learn otherwise.

You are a poster child for the republican loathing of education.

  22. Chestnut Says:
    May 29th, 2008 at 9:52 AM

    Leroy,
The problem is you’re full of shit, and apparently ignorant of the crimes of the Democrat party.

Democrats are crooks. Murtha, Pelosi, Reid, Feinstein, Jefferson, et. al. Fucking crooks.

And the Minnesota DFL was illegally funneling campaing contributions out to Lac Qui Parle county a couple years ago, and hiding its expenditures on behalf of the Hatch campaign.

I said it before and mean it, you’re a fucking idiot.

  23. Chestnut Says:
    May 29th, 2008 at 9:55 AM

BTW — my dad was a Democrat… that is until he saw the rampant anti-Americanism of the communists who took control of that party in 1968…

  24. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    May 29th, 2008 at 10:35 AM

    Chestnut-

You’re in luck. With Al Franken in the Senate, super majorities in both bodies of the Minnesota legislature and a DFL governor in a few years, we will finally be able to pass comprehensive education reform that will create an opportunity for you to beat the learning disability that has afflicted your family for the past 40 years.

  25. Chestnut Says:
    May 29th, 2008 at 10:44 AM

“With Al Franken in the Senate, super majorities in both bodies of the Minnesota legislature and a DFL governor in a few years…”

… the stage will be set for the final removal of liberals from the political landscape forever.

Fuck you Leroy. You’re a goddam idiot.
