Senator Bakk lead the charge for conceal and carry legislation. *NRA Backed Legislator*

He also set up Tax Free Zones and works well with the Republicans in rural areas.

He help shape DNR legislation for common sense use of our public forests.

He battled the MPCA, EPA for getting a iron nugget plant built in Minnesota instead of Indiana.

He single handly took on the Democratic Majority to change the LGA funding back for every rural town.

The reason why you all don't know what Tom Bakk has accomplished in the legislature is because he chairs the Tax Committee. Which means, you would need to have a brain instead of an empty space occupying the area above your shoulders to appreciate how effective of a legislator he is.

For your information, he voted against putting the Legacy Act on the ballot this fall because of his objections to raising our sales tax. He is a smart moderate Democrat that will have a difficult time getting endorsed, but if he did get the endorsement, would play very well in a general election.

Leroy, I'll put T Paw up against Bakk or any other socialist, I mean DFLer you want in a state wide race he will crush them all.

But if you don't get out of Minneapolis/or the Range I can see why you think everyone is tired of him. In the rest of the state it seems he is doing quite well.

I second Mark H's take. There are all too many exhibits. I don't know how Bakk will get metro votes. The Mall boondoggle is VERY unpopular here, and also Bakk was big on the stadium boondoggle, and is now pushing for public subsidy of the Vikings.

Tom Bakk never saw a pork project he didn't like.

Exhibit A - the Mall of America parking ramp scam.

He's a big sloppy whore for the union dollars.

LeRoy-

Your argument fails to explain how the Governor has been derelict from his duties. The legislature finished on time this year, which if I recall correctly, ended up with both bodies and the Gov. himself called it a pretty good session.

(I for one think the giant tax bill that happened to include a gas tax make this session a failure, but that's getting off the point.)

Add him to the list of candidates salivating at the chance to replace T-Paw in 2010.

Minnesotans of every political stripe are growing tired of T-Paw's constant flirtation with John McCain, and the resulting dereliction of his duties as governor.

As the chair of the National Governors Association, he wrote a letter to the president opposing REAL ID, but then when McCain's position shifted, suddenly, Pawlenty supported Real ID.

And on the final Saturday of the session, with all the legislative leaders huddled around his desk trying to hammer our a budget deal, he left for several hours to speak to the Wisconsin State Republican Convention.

I bet a lot of Minnesotans are hoping he joins McCain's (losing) ticket, because T-Paw is such a nice guy, it is better he go out under his own power than by a referendum of the people in 2010.

[...] Michael reports that Senate Tax Chair Tom Bakk has registered a campaign committee to run for Governor in 2010.  Bakk has been considering a gubernatorial candidacy for many months now, and publicly flirted with the idea in a Star Tribune article just a few weeks back.  Bakk is loved by the unions but not liked by environmentalists.
