DFL LEGISLATOR ADMITS THAT TEAM FRANKEN’S “NEW ENDORSEMENTS” ARE NOT ACTUALLY NEW; LEGISLATOR MAY RETRACT ENDORSMENT IF SOMEONE ELSE ENTERS RACE
By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 2, 2008
This is really funny. Within minutes of Team Franken making an announcement today about new endorsements, my phone started ringing. My sources claimed that some of the endorsement had actually been received weeks ago, but Team Franken “parked” the endorsements to strategically release them at a later time. The DFL endorsing convention for the U.S. Senate is on Saturday, so Team Franken can give the false impression of momentum by releasing new endorsements this week.
The Pioneer Press’ blog, Political Animal, has more details on Team Franken’s not so “new” endorsements:
“But at least one of the endorsements — from Rep. Ryan Winkler, who is actually from Golden Valley — is old. Winkler said his offer to support Franken came ‘pre-Playboy article,’ a graphic article that he said, ‘certainly makes me concerned about his campaign.’ Winkler, who supported erstwhile Democratic Senate candidate Mike Ciresi when he was in the race, said he assumes the campaign keeps some endorsements un-announced so it can roll them out. He said he’s not going to retract his endorsement now but ‘if there is another option that is certainly a possibility.’” Source: Pioneer Press/Political Animal, June 2, 2008

This really doesn’t sound like a proud endorsement from Representative Winkler. Team Franken’s pre-convention endorsement strategy seems to have backfired.

So, you are telling me that a candidate for U.S. Senate didnt issue a press release the very moment he received the endorsement from a first term legislator?
That’s it. I can’t take the deception anymore. I’m a Norm supporter now.

Will Mn Publius delete my latest post also?
Unfortunately, one of my most recent posts was deleted. I forget the exact language but it something somewhat similar to: Charley U. should have also been recognized by the New York Times as a blogger/poster [and it wasn't just because of seniority].

RW: “…if there is another option that is certainly a possibility…”
That should be lit piece material for Team Hindenb…er…Franken.
Well, to paraphrase Michele Bachmann, there are other races on the ballot.

You know, I’m surprised that in addition to the Playboy article people are not also mentioning the willingness of Franken to attend and accept money from the fundraiser held at the house of the Playboy CEO, Christie Hefner. For me, this goes along with the willingness to write a porn laden article for Playboy and is just as bad. Not exactly the Family Values candidate.
Norm isn’t a family values candidate either – since he’s going to tax us out of Home & Auto with his Cap & Trade scheme, but at least he’s not actively soliciting Playboy donations.

Al’s campaign is becoming less offensive, but more pathetic.
Rally round your hero moonbats, this one’s truly one of your own.

Yesterday the Strib had advice not to tell fat girls to go on a diet. The reason is that telling fat girls to diet will only make them eat more.
The same holds true for Democrats. If you tell them not to nominate a hate-mongering asshole, they’re twice as likely to do just that.
Of course, most Democrats are hate mongering assholes, so they’re field of choices is already pretty limited.

I can’t wait to see each of you type Sen. Franken for the first time, as you pour a 40 on the curb for your recently departed homie, Norm.

keep dreaming Leroy. Minnesotans to a chance once on an imbicile named Ventura and elected him the governor. We won’t do it a second time with another imbicile named Franken.

I think there is going to be an announcement later today that will end any thought of Senator Al Franken.
The real question is which DFL candidates will run the Senate?

true, with the inside scoop.

For the past few years I always assumed that the real question was, “What did he know, and when did he know it?”
However, times change somewhat.
Instead of Richard M. Nixon & Spiro T. Agnew, there is George W. Bush & Richard B. Cheney.

Holding back the endorsements and rolling them out a few days before the state convention especially to counter a recent spate of bad news is an outstanding tactic.
In 1980, that is.
Before the days of the Internet, with its instant analysis and response capabilities, this was an excellent tactic.
Now, however, it looks lame as it gets cut, sliced, and diced on the Internet.

The Political Animal, Politics and policy of Minnesota form Pioneer Press reporters [6-2-08].
Rep. Ryan Winkler, who is actually from Golden Valley said his offer to support Franken came “pre-Playboy article,” a graphic article that he said “certainly makes me concerned about this campaign.”
The endorsement wasn’t new; it was repackaged.
[In the Political Animal] Rep. Winkler: “He said he’s not going to retract his endorsement now but “if there is another option that is certainly a possiblity.”

So Winkler endorsed eight years ago..”pre playboy”?
Parked endorsements happen all the time. Sheesh.
