Sorry Leroy but afirmative action will not help Obama with anyone but the DFL base. He is winning with the Democrats based on his race and race only. It can't be anything else because he hasn't done anything else and only talks about "yes we can" - but nobody knows what "can" is and how he will accomplish it. When will the left learn that this country will not elect a far left wing candidate?

So, how many years in government would you say someone needs to run for president?

Hypothetically, you have four candidates.

CANDIDATE A: With little political background, and no elected experience, is elected governor and serves two terms before deciding to run for president.

CANDIDATE B: Graduated in the bottom half of his class at West Point, saw a great deal of combat, but never held elected office before deciding to run for president.

CANDIDATE C: Serves three non-consecutive terms in the State Senate, and then is elected to the U.S. Senate. Runs for the presidency half way through his first term.

CANDIDATE D: A former governor from Virginia with ten years in the US Senate, and a term as vice president.

Seems obvious D would be a good choice. Lots of experience. C also doesn't look bad. A has limited experience, but all seem better than B.

Right?

Your hypothetical candidates are:

Candidate A: Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States.
Candidate B: Ulysess S. Grant, 18th President of the United States.
Candidate C: Barack Obama, soon to be 44th President of the United States.
Candidate D: John Tyler, 10th President of the United States.

what seems to be shaping up in democratic circles in both state and national elections is the "skimpy resume" of the candidates at the top of the ticket.

can someone explain to me what obama's qualifications are to run a $3 trillion enterprise other than to give good speeches? and frankly, he is not that great on the stump without his teleprompter.

ditto with franken. his primary qualifications seem to be that he knows how to evade taxes, screw his employees (that might actually be in line with the democrats as they have been ripping off us taxpayers for as long as i can remember), and tell sexist jokes. based on running his own corporation, do you really want him to have one of the keys to your pocketbook?
