FROM CHECKS & BALANCES: “CIRESI EXPECTED TO BE NOMINATED”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 5, 2008

We have it on good authority attorney Mike Ciresi’s (D) name will be placed in nomination at the DFL State Convention in Rochester on Saturday. With the growing controversy over the comedic works of Al Franken (D) creating significant levels of discomfort with our state’s elected officials and delegates there seems to be a movement underway to deny Franken the endorsement for U.S. Senate.

We are not sure how wide spread the effort is but every day we are learning about more delegates who feel the DFL needs to find an alternative to Franken. As we stated previously, the sexual subject matter and now the impression that many of Franken’s targets tend to be women is creating a great deal of unease.” Source: Checks & Balances, June 4, 2008

    That’s amazing!

I just visited the Franken website, and one thing I noticed was a large banner that said LEED certified on a brick building. That got me to thinking two things: 1) is Franken’s office a “green” building? 2) I was there the other day, and you should see that parking lot full of cars with Franken bumper stickers. If they are so into building a “greener” world, don’t these people ever think to carpool or take the bus? It’s right on University Ave with all the major bus lines.

The link you provided requires an account, and I don’t have one for c&b. Is there anything more from that article?

I love how Michael has become so desperate, he is citing Shawn Towle posts.

While Ciresi (and Taryl Clark) will likely be nominated this weekend, Franken will get the nod a few ballots in.

From the sounds of things, Leroy is a lot closer to the inside than I am when it comes to DFL politics. I find it intriguing then that Leroy predicts that it will take “a few ballots” before Franken gets the DFL nod.

The conventional wisdom just a few weeks ago was that Franken would get the endorsement in a landslide on the first ballot over Jack Nelson Hyphen Pallmeyer. Of course, that was before MDE’s spate of stories on workers comp, taxes and porn-o-rama.

One question that the MSM should be asking is how much money and time has Franken spent to shore up the endorsement. Shoring up the endorsement was not on Franken’s to-do list just a few short weeks ago. With Ciresi out, he had it in the bag. Now, after the spate of stories about workers comp, taxes, and porn-o-rama, Franken has had no doubt to spend time, money, and effort on the endorsement fight. This was time, money, and effort that he no doubt wanted to spend on the general election. A good MSM reporter, if one existed, would take a look at this.

A good reporter would also be digging through the piles of Amended To The Amended That Were Previously Amended FEC reports.

That’s ok, when I’m done followin’ the dough, the reporters will gladly report on the findings. republiCon Ron is toast.

And yes, republiCon Ron as chair is implicitly on every ballot, just as Boy Blunder is, also.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure the good reporters will steer clear of anything a deranged partisan loon like Tommy manufactures.

That said, there aren’t many good reporters in town.

Go with that, Chestnut – it works in the Small Tent of your Party.

If Ciresi’s name is put into nomiation, it assures Franken will win it. Why split the anti-Franken vote?

If I was Ciresi, I would what for whoever won the nomination and then kick their butt in the primary.

You’ve done excellent work “manning up” Al, Dolt #1. He couldn’t have wished for a better cabin boy.
