BARKLEY ON FRANKEN: “HE’S NOT” LIKABLE AND HE’S “TRYING TO RE-INVENT HIMSELF AS THIS SERIOUS POLITICIAN”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 10, 2008

“‘And Franken is trying to re-invent himself as this serious politician after all those years where he was supposed to be funny. This stuff (Franken’s past career material) is just going to keep coming at him. He could weather it, if he was more likable. But from what I’ve seen, he’s not.’” Source: MinnPost, June 10, 2008

You wanna talk likable? How about this story about McCain’s first wife:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1024927/The-wife-John-McCain-callously-left-behind.html

Hurry. Read it before Brodkorb deletes it again.

Wow. How long will that story be kept from the MSM in the US? We always knew that McCain was the one that had the real problem with how he treated women. It is apparently genetic with the Coleman family. How many wives has Franken had? How long has he been married? Franken may have impure thoughts but actions speak a hell of a lot more than words.

One never knows if Governor Ventura and/or Senator Barkley are going to toss their hat(s) in the ring.

The truth is that the public likes neither Norm or Al. I don’t know if they would have the stomach to elect Jesse again either, but he’s been underestimated before…

    Trompo and Lefty;

Maybe the question you should be asking is why is only an obscure website , that noboby has heard of, the only one running it?

    Maybe because it’s all crap?

Do you seriously think that the Obama news networks (MSNBC, NBC, CNN….) wouldn’t be all over this “story” if it had any sliver of truth?

  6. Chestnut Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 3:03 PM

And here I thought, or at least Obama said, attacks on spouses were off limits… Though, that was more a proclamation of convenience before the tape of Michelle Obama’s “Kill Whitey” speech surfaces.

Amazing how deep some fascist liberal had to dig to come up with that load of garbage though.

  7. Left is RIGHT Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 3:53 PM

What exactly are you saying is false about the story?

  8. Swinger Twing Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 4:07 PM

    HYPE,

It seems pretty clear that the story is true. It’s been picked up before in this country and will be picked up again as a result of this piece. It is not just one obscure website. Amazing when you read both the old articles and the new articles how consistent they seem to be in the details. The swiftboaters must be salivating over this one.

consider the ironies: gop is the party of values; the dems of convenient values. most of the gop candidates for president were divorced and remarried; most of the dems still married to their first spouse.

now the big question–which is the better value: to be divorced and remarried or to be married and living a dishonest relationship–i.e. clintons?

frankly i believe it is better to admit failure and attempt to renew one’s self rather than live a lie.

  10. TommyJohnson Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 4:16 PM

“Party of Family Values” – yeah, “right”.

That’s only because they have so many of ‘em.

Goin’ into the cycle, the only presidential candidate that only was married once, was the Mormon. Go figure.

  11. I.R. Informed Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 4:43 PM

Old Two-Putt has some more figurin’ to do. He forgets that Mike Huckabee is still married to his first wife.

As far as Franken is concerned, I am not at all entertained by his potty humor/satire and I am not the least bit enamored with his brand of liberal/socialist agenda for Minnesota. I will be holding my nose very tightly and voting for Norm in ’08.

  12. The Audacity of HYPE Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 4:57 PM

Who says liberals dont have a sense of humor?

That post was really funny Swinger Twing.

Milk almost shot my nose when you said the huffingtonpost, talkleft and americablog were actual news sites.

The only one that was from an actual paper was the Ny Daily news, only problem is it is from the “GOSSIP” section.

Keep ‘em coming though, that was hilarious.

  13. The Audacity of HYPE Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 4:59 PM

    Wait it gets better.

The americablog , that you say is a legit site, has a direct link to donate to Obama.

AAAAHAHAHAHA, stop it, my sides are killing me.

Gabby Hayes was a Sidekick that sometimes wasn’t too “gabby.”

  15. Chestnut Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 6:51 PM

“It is not just one obscure website.”

    Yeah, you’re right… it’s six obscure, liberal fascist sites…

    LOL!

  16. Left is RIGHT Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 8:08 PM

I am still waiting for someone to explain what part of the story is false.

  17. Chris Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 9:22 PM

    Left is WRONG,

After 16 years of defending the Clintons, I’d like to know how anyone on the left has any moral authority to talk about anyone else’s marraige. Do you know what the difference is between McCain and Clinton? McCain had marital problems after being tortured in Vietnam for almost 6 years. Clinton was a philandering jerk with a decades long history of treating women like chattel.

  18. Peter Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 9:50 PM

Sounds to me like Clinton and McCain are pretty much two peas in a pod when it comes to womanizing. I don’t see too much different about their personalities. Well, except McCain dumped his wife when she got old, fat and disfigured. Am not really sure if that makes him smarter or more pathetic.

  19. TC Pundit Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 9:53 PM

Ummm…why does being a POW justify treating your wife the way McCain treated his first wife when he came back to the US?

  20. Chestnut Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 10:22 PM

McCain and his wife got divorced. Who the hell said anything about him mistreating her?

    She didn’t.

You fascist, liberal douche bags can dispense with the lies and character assassination at any time.

  21. el presidente Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 10:25 PM

Perhaps what the rePUBLICans really want is not so much to hear the candidates debate, but to hear the ex-wives, ex-girl friends, girlfriends, wives of the male candidates debate.

    Franni Franken vs Laurie Coleman

Michelle Obama vs Carol [McCain] & Cindy McCain

[Perhaps Terry Ventura and/or Susan Barkley]

  22. The Audacity of HYPE Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 11:00 PM

    Left is WRONG:

Can you explain to me what part of the “story” is true?

  23. el presidente Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 11:14 PM

    Look at MBB/MDE’s title.

    “BARKELY” should be “BARKLEY.”

I don’t think that TRUE part of the story needs much EXPLAINING.

It is the Democratic Farmer-Labor Party.

  24. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    June 10th, 2008 at 11:43 PM

I think it is funny that one of the guys responsible for convincing Jesse Ventura to run believes he has any latitude to judge the seriousness of any candidate.

  25. TommyJohnson Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 7:29 AM

The Huckster wasn’t runnin’ for Preident of the USA; he was runnin’ for Preacher for the USA.

And I’m surprised he didn’t get it, what with the twisted view of government rightwingnuts have.

  26. Unity Trite Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 8:56 AM

“now the big question–which is the better value: to be divorced and remarried or to be married and living a dishonest relationship–i.e. clintons?”

Add to that i.e. The Colemans :)

  27. Yoni Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 10:17 AM

McCain and his wife got divorced. Who the hell said anything about him mistreating her?

get the facts Chestnut, he left her because she had a car accident and was not her pretty self anymore. You can’t sugarcoat it, or turn it in to something its not. I consider that mistreatment. Leaving someone because they are not as physically attractive because of a life changing car accident….

  28. Chestnut Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 10:56 AM

Yoni, while I appreciate your belief in your clairvoyance, I’m not convinced.

Speaking of facts, maybe you should read something other than liberal fascists who want to assassinate the character of an honorable man who even his ex-wife has nothing bad to say about.

You really are a dumb shit.

  29. Yoni Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 11:13 AM

I don’t know Chestnut, I think it is a character flaw divorcing your wife after she supported him through his captivity and then dumping her ass because her ass in fact got to big for his liking.

  30. Chestnut Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 11:32 AM

    Yoni,
You’re free to reach whatever conclusion you want, but there are no facts that support that conclusion. For that matter, there’re no facts to support the conclusion that John Kerry had Sen. Heinz killed so he could run off with his rich wife, but nonetheless, Heinz is dead and John is with Terese.

  31. Chestnut Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 11:38 AM

In fact, the simpler explanation (Occam’s Razor) is usually true. And that simpler explanation would include that perhaps Mr. and Mrs. McCain grew apart during his extensive time away in captivity. When he returned, they found they had little left in common.

She doesn’t speak ill of him.

Of course, one could also relate to the common experience of those who have faced death head-on. Lance Armstrong divorced his wife after overcoming cancer. There are millions of similar stories.

I’ll challenge you to find more plausible conclusions that don’t require you to slander, lie and distort the record, or to guess what emotions rest at the heart of another person and their actions. I realize this is a lot to ask of a Democrat, particularly one as delusional and incapable of thought as yourself.

  32. el presidente Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 1:09 PM

The rePUBLICans is looking for a tell all.

So why not have Laurie Coleman, Franni Franken, and any current, and former wives, and longer-term girlfriends, of McCain, Obama, Gingrich, Clinton, Hyde, Craig, etc.

Oprah & Dennis Prager can lead he discussion.

  33. Wade Seeker Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 9:17 PM

It’s a good thing fatsazz Kennedy is not running,,, oh wait Mary jo can’t speak for herself,,,,

“Perhaps what the rePUBLICans really want is not so much to hear the candidates debate, but to hear the ex-wives, ex-girl friends, girlfriends, wives of the male candidates debate”

  34. el presidente Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 11:25 PM

I think that if Oprah had a special featuring Carol [McCain] & Cindy Hensley McCain, and Michelle Obama it would draw a HUGE TV audience.
