COLEMAN CAMPAIGN RELEASES 1ST CAMPAIGN TV AD

By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 11, 2008

U.S. Senator Norm Coleman’s campaign released their first television ad this afternoon. As soon as I get a copy, I will post it on Minnesota Democrats Exposed and Blogs for Norm.

UPDATE: Here is the new ad release by Coleman’s campaign. The full release is on Blogs for Norm.

  1. Left is RIGHT Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 3:21 PM

Pretty weak effort. He can’t even look at the camera, especially in the first part. He needs to put in a little more effort than just sitting there reading a script. Geeesh.

  2. Chestnut Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 3:27 PM

Left is RIGHT is apparently as ignorant about video production as about everything else they comment on.

  3. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 3:31 PM

I agree. Also, the message was in poor taste.

If he is going to say that the job is about results, wouldn’t you think he would want to have some results to talk about?

“It’s not about talking, it’s about getting things done.” -Norm Coleman

It’s almost like he is trying to lose.

  4. Chestnut Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 3:49 PM

    Speaking of ignorant… Hi Leroy.

  5. Yoni Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 3:53 PM

I kinda like the commercial. Norm isn’t that bad of a guy.

  6. Tim Harb Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 4:23 PM

I am as big a Coleman fan as you’ll find but this ad is pathetic. I don’t know what is going on but we need to light a spark under him. I know plenty about video production and this is just wrong. Coleman knows better and he better get his act together before doing another commercial. He almost looks like some kind of zombie just going through the motions in this thing. For all of Franken’s shortcomings, he knows how to play for the camera. Coleman can’t come across as shifty and insincere as he does in this ad.

  7. pigpen Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 4:29 PM

No the commercial is just right. Not negative and to the point. If your going to critize than also give solutions.

  8. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 4:43 PM

I gave my solutions. He had best stick to the script of how Al is wrong for Minnesota, because trying to say he is right for Minnesota is obviously not going to work.

  9. Chestnut Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 4:44 PM

Well, on charisma, you may be right Tim. He needs more energy.

On the other hand, Mark Dayton is more articulate and energetic than that boiled retard, Al Franken.

  10. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 5:54 PM

Is it any wonder few take republican complaints about sensitivity seriously?

    Boiled retard?

I dare say the torture of the mentally retarded ranks right up there when it comes to offensive things one can write about.

  11. el presidente Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 5:57 PM

Boiled? Perhaps it was just a warm jacuzzi.

  12. Norm Exposer Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 5:59 PM

The only place Norm Coleman has brought people together is at the funerals for the more than 4,000 soldiers who have died in his oily war.

  13. Aaron Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 6:00 PM

Wow. What exactly did he get done? He worked together to not investigate the privatization of the war? He worked together with the pharmaceutical companies to screw over Minnesotans? He never says what he did. He just says he crosses party lines to get things done. He forgot the part where he shows the impact of what he actually did accomplish.

  14. patriot Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 6:11 PM

Wow, does that expose any Minnesota Democrats?

OH! Why, yes it does, why else would Michael have played it here, only a Democrat would have voted yesterday to TAX the “Windfall” profits of Oil Companies as Norm Coleman did.

Thanks for pointing this out Michael and appropriately “exposing” the RINO Norm on your website.

  15. Cash N. Carey Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 6:13 PM

    Michael,

Thanks for showing this to us? We are truly blessed to have such a great senator working for us.

Can we get back on track exposing the liberals for what they are?

  16. Yoni Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 9:15 PM

    Cash N. Carey,

you are whats wrong w/ the Republican party, all you care about is smearing the competition, not about how your own elected officials perform. your true colors are shining tonight, douche #2

  17. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 9:21 PM

I’m quite certain that Al Franken will welcome this ad as a sign that Norm intends to talk about the issues. During his brief attempt at that, Mark Kennedy was found by the voters to be exactly what he was, a partisan hack who cared more about what President Rove wanted than what Minnesota wanted.

    Norm Coleman is that x10.

  18. Cash N. Carey Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 10:34 PM

    Yoni,

And I care what you think? And namecalling!? I wish I could say it was beneath you. As usual, I won’t sink to your level. If you don’t like the MDE site please leave.

    God bless you Norm!

  19. Chef Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 10:55 PM

Norm’s ads are a waste of money. His votes have already made me decide to pass on a senate vote this November. I wish it wasn’t Franken, but I’ve had enough of Norm.

    Chef – conservative not Republican

  20. Yoni Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 11:02 PM

    Wow Carey,

    you are truly an idiot…..

I wasn’t addressing MDE at all, I was addressing your inability to grasp the idea of something other than smearing the opposition, rather than looking at the issues and promoting your candidate.

If Norm is so great, why would you rather Michael keep smearing Al rather than promoting Norm.

  21. el presidente Says:
    June 11th, 2008 at 11:03 PM

    Q. What were the lobsters last words?
    A. Ah, a jacuzzi!

  22. Chestnut Says:
    June 12th, 2008 at 8:22 AM

Leroy is a believer in myths and fairy tales. He leavens them with his own imagination and adds a sprinkle of lies and libel.

Leroy admires Al Franken, who is as corrupt as he is dishonest. Al Franken is less intelligent than Mark Dayton, the worst Minnesota Senator in history. Al Franken is also less charismatic than Mark Dayton, who often appeared either to be drunk or in mid-seizure.

Al Franken, like the presumptive Democrat nominee for President, has accomplished remarkably little in his boring, pathetic life. Neither he nor Barak Obama have a track record of bringing people together to solve problems… or to do anything for that matter.

Both are unprincipled, self serving liars. Both have track records of lies, distortions and greed.

It is those later characteristics which make them such ideal Democrat candidates. Self-absorption, corruption and dishonesty are hallmarks of the Democrat party.

  23. jay Says:
    June 12th, 2008 at 8:35 AM

All right Norm get something done then. We want ANWR opened up for drilling as well as the coastal waters. We want new refineries. We want cheap electricity, therefore we want coal and nuclear plants built.
We don’t want to burn food for our fuel or a crazy cap and trade scheme which penalizes companies for production.
Unfortunately, you still think your going to get the Sierra clubs blessing.

  24. ManGenius Says:
    June 12th, 2008 at 9:04 AM

Amen, Jay! Norm has a long way to go to get my conservative vote. Just goes to show how out of touch the lefty posters are on this site when they call Norm a Rove or Bush lap dog. Norm is an embarrassment on energy policy by voting with the retarded left. Other then his UN scandal investigations I can’t name anything Norm has done to earn my vote.

Of course what Norm hasn’t done is still better then what socialist Al promises to do.

  25. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    June 12th, 2008 at 9:56 AM

So, would it be safe to say that Norm is as disliked by the republicans as he is by the democrats?

This doesn’t seem to bode well for his re-election chances.

  26. ManGenius Says:
    June 12th, 2008 at 11:33 AM

Well Leroy, I will vote for the most conservative candidate. That is Norm. I have, however, written Norm many times letting him know he may have my vote but not my support. There will be no Norm money, stickers, signs or volunteering from me this time around. Being slightly to the right of an Ultra-Socialist is not good enough.

    YOU HEAR THAT GOP?!?!?!?!

  27. jay Says:
    June 12th, 2008 at 12:10 PM

I too will probably vote for Norm. A RINO is still better than Angry Al. However, no money, no sign, no volunteering from me. My support will go to Reps Bachman and Kline.

  28. The Audacity of HYPE Says:
    June 12th, 2008 at 1:06 PM

    Yoni and Leroy,

You wanted to talk about the merits of the candidate and not the negatives fo the opponent so here is your chance.

Please tell us why Al Franken is your guy.

What has he done for Minnesota?
What has he accomplished in public life?
How is he going to make things better?

Just make sure your answers are about Franken, not about what someone else said or did.

  29. Chestnut Says:
    June 12th, 2008 at 1:18 PM

“What has he done for Minnesota?”

    He left… unfortunately, he returned.

“What has he accomplished in public life?”

He told fart jokes, robbed a children’s charity, and got rich peddling hate to socialists.

“How is he going to make things better?”

He’ll get great healthcare benefits and a pension for life…. oh, you meant how will he make things better for us…

  30. el presidente Says:
    June 12th, 2008 at 3:00 PM

    NorMAN ColeMAN’s Shared Vision?

What about his “SCARED VISION” during the time he failed to pass his Draft Physical during the Vietnam War.

  31. Andrew Says:
    June 12th, 2008 at 5:45 PM

That ad was horrible and I could barely understand him. I’m excited to see what Franken’s first ad will be. I bet you’ll be able to understand him and he’ll be charismatic and make you like him a lot more than this boring dude.

  32. Tyra Says:
    June 12th, 2008 at 10:06 PM

That ad was awesome. Goes right to the women, soccer mom vote. As a women I loved it. Really genuine!

Sorry Guys.. men are from Mars. Women are from Venus. The ad works for all the females I showed it to.
