FRANKEN WILL LIKELY GET A BUMP IN POST-ENDORSEMENT POLLS

By Michael Brodkorb | June 11, 2008

I think the Republican response dominated the press about Al Franken’s endorsement by the Minnesota DFL, but Franken will likely get a five to ten point bump in post-endorsement polls. Franken was endorsed on the 1st ballot and this should generate an increase in support with Democrats.

Senator Coleman was receiving support from over 90% of Republicans in the latest polls, while Franken’s support amongst Democrats was in the high 60′s to mid 70′s.

Sounds like somebody has seen some recent poll numbers and is already trying to spin them before they are released to the public! Gotta love it.

Are you talking about a bump in Democrat support, or support of the electorate at large?

Spinning a bit, Michael? You’re probably expecting a very modest gain, if any.

Last I saw, Democrats were nearly evenly split between Franken, JNP and Coleman.

He may get a bump, but will it really be 5 – 10 percent of the electorate? That seems far fetched, especially as so many high-profile Democrats continue to express disbelief and concern about what havoc the Franken train wreck will visit on the November ticket at large.

I don’t recall hearing about any bump Norm got after the republican convention. Did you forget to mention it, or did it forget to occur?

Including the fact that MN GOP Ron Carey spent the day of his 27th Wedding Anniversary at the DFL MN State Convention.

Was that part of a trick so that he could later talk about rape, and have a press conference outside the convention doors?

Perhaps in retrospect Ron Carey would have been better of spending his 27th Wedding Anniversary at home, rather than spending the day with dominate tricks.

    el p,

Why do you find it so odd that someone would on the day of their anniverary?

From what I hear the convention was over around 3:00 or so (I could be mistaken though on the time).

My bet is that she is very supportive of her husband and understands that that is his job.

Maybe you should find out if his wife is as upset about this as you are.

I wonder what the JOB DESCRIPTION of the CHAIRPERSON of the State of Minnesota REPUBLICAN Party, reads about attending the Minnesota State DEMOCRATIC FARMER-LABOR (DFL) Party State Convention.

[Perhaps the Chairperson of the Republican National Convention (RNC) will also attend the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado.]
