MN GOP PRESS RELEASE: “WHAT DFL UNITY?; NEW DRAFT CIRESI WEBSITE SHOWS GROWING DEMOCRAT DISSATISFACTION WITH AL FRANKEN”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 12, 2008
St. Paul- Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Ron Carey today issued the following statement regarding news reports that a Draft Mike Ciresi website has been launched on the internet at http://www.draftciresi.blogspot.com.
“The Minnesota DFL delegates in Rochester may have been just fine with a candidate who jokes about drugging and raping women, doesn’t pay his taxes, thinks sex with vomiting women is worthy comedy on his radio program and refuses to come clean about his workers’ compensation fiasco. But with Mike Ciresi again saying he is keeping all options on the table and Rep. Betty McCollum refusing to endorse Al Franken, it’s no surprise a new website (http://www.draftciresi.blogspot.com) has appeared which encourages disaffected Democrats to dump Al Franken. While the DFL tried to pretend they were united this week, it’s clear there is growing dissatisfaction with Al Franken.”

MN GOP Chairperson, Ron Carey, should also add that while at the MN State DFL Convention, the delegates gave him a polite Honorable Mention for his 27th Wedding Anniversary.

Many Dems are concerned about Franken, but are remaining quiet to preserve the appearance of unity. This site may be a signal that the DFL is not going to put up with this Franken candidacy any longer. They may just be realizing that if Franken is on the ticket, they risk losing a senate election in a heavily democrat-favored election year.

According to a report on MN Campaign Reports, Betty McCollum nodded her head and clapped when Al Franken spoke and offered what the reporter thought amounted to an apology.

The ten year old article [October 9, 1988] in the New York Times, LIABILITY LITIGATIOR: Michael Ciresi; WINNING WITH HARD WORK AND HISTRIONICS by Julia Flynn Siler was interesting.

Until someone steps forward and takes credit for the site, I don’t think many people, nor any media outlet, will take it at all seriously.
If some democrat really feels passoionatley about this, why wouldnt they step forward? Methinks it is because Michael played a role in creating it.
Why are you republicans so afraid pogtf Al?

Leroy, you make a really good point. I don’t think it would surprise anyone if we all found out a Republican was behind this site.

If MN GOP Chairperson Ron Carey can attend the MN DFL State Convention on his 27th Wedding Anniversary, it seems to me that perhaps Swiftee-boat COULD come forward and take credit IF he WERE the culprit. [subjunctive tense]
