LTE: “RURAL HEALTH CARE NOT ‘SMALL-BORE STUFF’”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 18, 2008

“As mayor of Walker, I was appalled when I read in the Bemidji Pioneer that Al Franken referred to the new hospital for our community as ‘small-bore stuff.’ I know that Al Franken has made a career out of slinging mud and ridiculing those he disagrees with, but to belittle the importance of this hospital, which just happens to be a top priority of our community for years, shows how out of touch he is with the needs or people in this area.” Source: Bemidji Pioneer, June 18, 2008

I realize Al Franken has only lived in Minnesota for a couple years of his adult life, but if he doesn’t understand the importance of a hospital to communities like Walker, he is completely out of touch with the values of those of us in rural Minnesota. I would think twice about supporting someone who thinks rural health care is ‘small-bore stuff.’” Source: Bemidji Pioneer, June 18, 2008

Angry Al’s handlers keep him from talking to the Media. Maybe they should have him stop talking with elected officials too! Pretty soon, all he’ll do is move his lips and let the handlers stand behind him and talk.

Well, it is “small bore stuff” compared to Al’s agenda of destroying the entire healthcare system and ruining the American economy through his retarded socialist policies.

It’s no news that Al Franken is out of touch. His life-time of self-service, snorting coke and telling fart jokes is no way to remain “connected” with the needs of anyone.

Franken has had his photo taken with cows; they help contribute to the methane gas in the atmosphere.

Heart stents [and some other stents] are SMALL BORE medical devices.

Drug-coated heart stents are SMALL BORE medical devices with DRUGS.

Perhaps I have more familiarity with them than you might think.

GWB has RUINED the Reserves and the National Guard.

Would you he ready for your 3rd or 4th trip overseas to Iraq or Afghanistan?

The American economy is ruined by overspending in areas of WAR, WAR, WAR and then pretending that we don’t have to pay for those WAR, WAR, WAR policies.

Let’s be real, if you’re like me and 99.9% of Minnesota, you dont live in Walker. In the grand scheme of things it is ‘small’. However, a national healthcare system (thats accessible and affordable to more people then those with large amounts of money, and those in Walker)is a much bigger deal.

Having grown up in Walker and watched Mayor Walhof’s career as mayor, I can say that his letter does not surprise me. Mayor Walhof takes every opportunity he can to parrot Repub talking points, never mind that his “friends” in the legislature have so severely cut LGA payments to cities like Walker that at one point they were not sure if they could keep their library open.

Mayor Walhof has used (some would say abused) his position to engage in partisan activities that detract from his work as mayor.

Perhaps if he would concentrate on the issues facing his city of 1000 people, like their ever-increasing utility costs, he would have less time to meddle in senate elections.

P.S., this is my first comment on MDE, so fire away :-)

Indeed, let us be real. I am sure that everyone in Minnesota really appreciates the way Al Franken has shown disdain for Minnesota’s smaller communities.

I can rest assured now that, as long as I am part of the majority, Al Franken will be there to make sure that my “large-bore stuff” is attended to. With trusty “new” big government programs, he will fix what is wrong with America…as long as it aligns well with a majority of other Americans.

I wonder how many Americans will get the shaft? And who will do the choosing? Well, we now know Al Franken doesn’t care. That’s “small-bore stuff”.
