BUSTED: NRSC PRESS RELEASE TRIGGERS ADMISSION FROM TEAM FRANKEN ABOUT PAYING BACK TAXES IN PREVIOUSLY UNDISCLOSED STATE

    By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 26, 2008

The NRSC’s press release from earlier today triggered Team Franken to admit this afternoon that Franken paid back-taxes in a previously undisclosed state - Kentucky. After Republicans stated that Franken potentially owed back-taxes in additional states for speeches and appearances, Team Franken disclosed that Franken owed back-taxes in 17 states.  Kentucky was not one of the 17 states disclosed by Team Franken.

According to media reports, Team Franken is reviewing the list to determine if they owe additional taxes.

Get the tape from “At Issue” a few weeks back and you will see Angry Al the Porn Writer lying threw his store-bought teeth. He’s such a liar.

Get the comments from some of the MDE sympathizers from a few hours back, and you will read about BODY PARTS GALORE, that SEEM TO BE A PRETEXT TO “MALE RAPE.”

Writings of “butt boys,” etc. from some very long-time MDE sympathizers.

Say, Michael? Is Team Gumby “reviewing the list” to see if ol’ Smokescreen owes any more rent, in DC?

      Michael,

does Norm have to pay any tax on the basement he rents?

Angry Al - (bad) Porn writer, Tax Cheat, poor employer, liar.

      Sounds like a well-rounded liberal.

      Northeast Eric,

In the link you provided, the author presents one side’s opinion and then gets reaction from the other. She offers no personal opinion on the matter.

It’s a complete misrepresentation to assert that “Rachel Stassen-Berger disagrees with you” based on your link.

Hey Average Joe. With your own candidate’s teeth on the internet, courtesy of the store where he bought his, I don’t think it’s a good idea to bring up the issue of “store-bought teeth.” Just like it’s not the brightest strategy for Norm Coleman to be bringing up marriage and fidelity.

Surly, no it’s not. When republiCon Ron held his last Press Farce concerning Franken’s taxes, this is what Rachel had to say:

GOP: But wait there’s more. Franken campaign: No, there isn’t.
Minnesota GOP Party Chair Ron Carey today held a Capitol news conference about Democratic Senate candidate Al Franken’s business dealings. He claimed that Franken owes taxes beyond the 17 states he disclosed yesterday and offered as proof book signings Franken did in Connecticut and Wisconsin in 2005, which charged admission.

(Update: Mark Drake, spokeman for the state Republican party, said the book signings generated economic activity and therefore should have been reported.)

Um, no, said Jess McIntosh, of the Franken campaign.

“Book signings generally don’t generate taxable income….Book signings aren’t paid events,” said McIntosh. The proceeds from admission charges generally go to the book seller, not the book author. “A swing and a miss,” she said.

The press corps was curiously quiet at Carey’s press conference. We just asked a few questions and those after a long pause during which Carey joked: “You’ve got nothing left? We’ve covered it all.”

Could it be that Carey has just worn us down? By my count, today’s Capitol appearance to talk about Franken’s business dealings was at least Carey’s fifth in the last few weeks.

      TommyJohnson,

Read from the link that Eric provided. It is not the same as the quote you offer. I can’t compare and contrast the two since your attempt at a link only produces an error message.

Either way, my comment was based on a specificly referenced source. I can’t comment on the dead links you provide.

      Surly, try this link:

      http://blogs.twincities.com/politics/2008/04/gop_but_wait_theres_more_frank.html

But, the link doesn’t matter, what matters is what Rachel wrote - and I pasted it verbatim.

I as there at that Press Farce republiCon Ron held, that Rachel is writing about - and I posted here, that the press was not impressed with the crap republiCon Ron was throwing.

That’s why the GOPers tossed this same ol’ crap in W.D.C.; they KNEW the local media was tired of “More Of The Same.”

And Rachel’s blogpost on this latest crap-throwing exercise in W.D.C. is the MSM’s way of saying it was crap.

Last night, Tommy “johnson” Johnson was still tapping out excuses for Angry Al at 12:49, and this morning he’s back at it at 7:24 am.

For such a fat little puke, when does he find the time to stuff his pie hole while he’s doing his online asshat dance literally from dusk to dawn?

We can just picture it; a fat, pasty faced moron, sitting in front of his mothers computer, surrounded by Cheeto bags and ho-ho wrappers cracking himself up and mumbling incoherently.

      Al’s biggest fan…lol!

“But, the link doesn’t matter, what matters is what Rachel wrote - and I pasted it verbatim.”

Well actually, yes. Yes it does.

Eric made an assertion and posted a link. I read his link and posted my response, including the qualifier “BASED ON YOUR LINK”.

You pasted verbatim something other than the link I referenced and then claimed I was wrong in my challenge to Eric. Isn’t that known as “assuming facts not in evidence”?

If you’ve got access to additional information (which you obviously claim to have), then make your case, but don’t start inserting language that just isn’t there into the argument.

Or you could just start throwing out some more “RepubliCon”s, “Cheney”s, and “Team Gumby”s. That’s equally as effective.

    16. TommyJohnson Says:
      June 27th, 2008 at 10:45 am

      “That’s equally as effective.”

Of COURSE it is - and it’s a trick I learned from republiCons!

The best part is it drives bootlickers whack-O! They hate it when what the GreedOverPrinciples party does, is done back to ‘em….

Al did graduate from some sort of school, right? If he did then why does he continue to handle these tax issues like a drooling idiot?

Hey Al, here are a few simple, basic, common sense questions for ya:

Why didn’t you or your team of geniuses hire a crack team of tax auditors at the first mention of this issue and get it all sorted out?

Or better yet, if you had half a brain, you would be attacking the stupid tax code that has you pay in every state you “Entertain” in.

Did you not know where you “Worked”?

I, not a tax guy, and have never worked out of this state, have been fully aware of this law ever since it was first introduced to fleece pro athletes. How can you not be?

As much as I dislike Al I will admit he is getting burned by a stupid tax code. But I do love the irony.

Ahhh but alas, being a good socialist he has to support any and all money grabs even if he does get burned by them.

      Hey peeps,

Can we elevate the level of discourse at this site? Or is this the status quo? I mean, I like me some nasty name calling (and the first amendment) just as much as the next anonymous bloggee, but, honestly, would Thomas Paine approve? Our founding fathers? For instance, why does it matter that Al Franken did not pay his taxes? The man achieved a certain level of success and accumulation of wealth-thus likely rewarded under our current tax structure-and, finding himself overwhelmed by the tax laws, hired out an expertise in the field to keep tabs on all his income and revenue and pay the respective taxes. His intent was pure, if you will, it was the execution that was flawed–an execution that had nothing to do with Franken except his poor choice in accountants. And, as we’ve already proved in this primary election cycle, the company you keep and the advice you choose to listen to has proven quite irrelevant in many (democratic) voters mind. The man broke a statutory law, not natural law–it’s hard to condemn him for that, and that is probalby why this issue will do little to dissuade undecided voters from casting their vote against him.

If Coleman’s gonna win-and I think he has a battle in store for him, more so than most expect (Franken’s got a crackin’ field staff)-he’s got to give me a reason to vote for him.

This tax bs ain’t gonna make me vote against Franken, nor for Coleman.
