NEW POLL SHOWS COLEMAN WITH 10-POINT LEAD OVER FRANKEN
By Michael Brodkorb | June 26, 2008
According to a new poll released today by Quinnipiac University and the Washington Post, Senator Coleman is leading Al Franken, 51% – 41%. The poll was conducted June 17 – 24. Coleman has a 20-point lead with men and a 20-point lead with independents. Coleman is tied with Franken among women and with union household.
I’m sure the poll results on the presidential race will be widely promoted on liberal blogs, without a mention of the U.S. Senate poll results.
The poll showed Senator Obama with a 17-point lead over Senator McCain in Minnesota. Franken is losing to Coleman by 10-points, but Obama is beating McCain by 17 points. This is terrible news for Team Franken and it shows how radioactive Franken will be to Obama’s campaign in Minnesota.
Franken was noticeably absent from Obam’s rally last month, while he his rival for the endorsement, Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer, was in attendence. We’ll see how the two campaigns interact here in Minnesota during the remaing months of the election.

This is terrible news for Team Franken and it shows how radioactive Franken will be to Obama’s campaign.
So if Coleman were running against Ciresi, Obama would be ahead by 30 points in MN?
June 26th, 2008 at 10:11 AM
yes
June 26th, 2008 at 10:13 AM
Well, everybody knows Boy Blunder is radioactive for ol’ Smokescreen; Darth Cheney, too. Now, Bushy McSame is gettin’ stomped on, up here on the tundra.
So who is ol’ Smokescreen gonna turn to, for help? Even though the GOPers won’t admit it, the reality is that only bein’ at 51% at this stage of the game is BIG TIME trouble for Coleman.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:27 AM
Last time I checked, 51 percent at any stage of the game is a win.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:34 AM
Well, when the PlayGroundLady says recess is over, Chestnut, check again.
At this stage, 51% is anything but a win.
June 26th, 2008 at 10:51 AM
If you say so. But that’s about as well grounded as the rest of your bullshit, Tommy.
June 26th, 2008 at 11:03 AM
It’s actually – as usual – well grounded, Chestnut.
From the June 13th, 2008 Rassmussen Report:
“Any incumbent senator who polls below 50% is considered vulnerable. In addition to Coleman, many Republican Senators currently fall into that category. In fact, At least eight other Republican Senate seats are potentially in play for Democrats including seats in Alaska, New Hampshire, Oregon, New Mexico, Colorado, Mississippi, Virginia, and Kentucky. In Texas, Cornyn was below 50% a month ago. Like Dole, he has gained ground in more recent polling.
So, congratulations to Team Gumby – they went from “vulnerable” to merely “BIG TROUBLE”.
And Chestnut, as usual, is proven wrong AGAIN.
June 26th, 2008 at 11:11 AM
Yeah, what does it say about a hate-monger who only gets 40 percent, and hasn’t improved, even following his party’s endorsement?
What’s it say about the odds of some asshole with 40 percent?
You ought to know, you’ve been the asshole with less support than that, right?
June 26th, 2008 at 11:12 AM
I guess what I’m saying, Tommy, you f’n retard, is at any point, 51 percent is better than 40 percent.
If you think you can win with 40 percent, good luck.
June 26th, 2008 at 11:13 AM
Oops, spoke too soon. Bill Clinton won with about 40 percent…. but I don’t see Ross Perot running for Minnesota Senator.
June 26th, 2008 at 11:13 AM
Last time I looked 51% is greater than 50%. I guess it depends on if your using DFL or real math.
June 26th, 2008 at 11:18 AM
Michael, you often over-reach to contortionist proportions, but seriously, how exactly is a 17 point lead an indicator that Franken is “radioactive”?
This appears to be a new record, even for you.
I admit, I would like to see the lead stretch to 100 points, you know, just to reassure my faith in human intelligence, but I would certainly settle for a 17 point victory in November.
June 26th, 2008 at 11:23 AM
On the other hand, that 17 point lead for Obama is only in Minnesota…
Actually, the idea of Minnesota as a “battle ground” state in a Presidential election is rather funny. This is the state where drooling liberal idiots will vote for a dead dog who has a Wellstone sticker on his ass.
June 26th, 2008 at 11:26 AM
Chestnut, if you don’t understand how the numbers work, especially at this stage in the game, just say so.
Oh, you DID!!!
Damn, you’re dense. Which, of course, explains why you ride the shortbus, Chestnut.
June 26th, 2008 at 11:30 AM
I love all the sexual tension lately between Tommy and Chestnut.
June 26th, 2008 at 11:39 AM
You can always tell when Chestnut had a big ol’ can o’ WhupAss opened up on him, ’cause he starts swearin’ like Cartman.
June 26th, 2008 at 11:49 AM
Chestnut: “This is a state where drooling liberal idiots will vote for a dead dog …”
——————————————–
How did the dead dog manage to file to run?
How did the drooling idiot manage to register to vote?
June 26th, 2008 at 12:03 PM
Tommy,
Re: comment #14, I have a couple questions.
1) Is 51 percent a majority, if not, what is?
2) How much closer to a majority is 40 percent than 51 percent?
I mean, sure, I wish Coleman had closer to 60 percent at this stage of the game. And sure, to some degree he is still vulnerable… but a final question:
3) Polls consistently show Franken wallowing in the low 40s to high 30s in election support. How is this a good thing for a challenger with 100 percent name recognition?
P.s., if you don’t know how math works, just say so. Your warden can probably show you wear the picture books on counting numbers are in the prison library.
You fascist prick.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:10 PM
I’ll repost this, just for you, Chestnut:
****
“Any incumbent senator who polls below 50% is considered vulnerable. In addition to Coleman, many Republican Senators currently fall into that category. In fact, At least eight other Republican Senate seats are potentially in play for Democrats including seats in Alaska, New Hampshire, Oregon, New Mexico, Colorado, Mississippi, Virginia, and Kentucky. In Texas, Cornyn was below 50% a month ago. Like Dole, he has gained ground in more recent polling.
So, congratulations to Team Gumby – they went from “vulnerable†to merely “BIG TROUBLEâ€.
****
Now, what part of the above didn’t you understand? Or don’t you understand any of it? It’s not your fault you’re a few sandwiches short of a full lunch, Chestnut.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:11 PM
Oh, and a fourth question:
Given a) This election year, voter sentiment seems to be heavily weighted toward Democrats;
And b) Minnesota is a predominantly Democrat voting state, confirmed by this poll which gives the Democrat presidential candidate a 17 point lead over the Republican candidate:
What is the upside for the Democrat candidate for Senate, who enjoys nearly 100 percent name recognition, to trail the Republican by 11 points?
Please cite your sources. I look forward to your response.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:14 PM
Yeah, I get that fact Tommy, I never disagreed with it. It would be better for Coleman to have 55 to 60 percent. If you can show me where I disagreed with that analysis, please do.
Still, how is 40 percent better than 51 percent, for a Democrat in a Democrat-leaning state in a Democrat trending election year?
You know, some day you’re going to just have to arrive at a conclusion supported by the information in front of you.
I doubt I’ll be alive when you do, but I figure it’s got to happen some day. After all, a broken clock is right twice a day and even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:15 PM
Tommy “johnson” Johnson has regained his strength and is “manning up” Angry Al with furious intensity…
Someone had better tell Franny not to bother holding dinner.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:17 PM
I’d also be interested to understand how you reached the conclusion that Coleman went from “vulnerable” to “big trouble” given the poll numbers are 1) trending slightly in his favor, and 2) he has achieved support from a majority of polled voters.
Most would conclude that his prospects would have moved from “vulnerable” to “less vulnerable.”
But then again, this is the reasonable man’s interpretation… that the ravings of a psych ward inmate like Tommy, the fascist prick.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:20 PM
“Still, how is 40 percent better than 51 percent, for a Democrat in a Democrat-leaning state in a Democrat trending election year? “
It’s not; any moron – including you – recognizes that.
What flies way above your head, ’cause your elevator don’t go to the top floor, is that even with Franken at 40, COLEMAN IS IN TROUBLE.
And if you knew how to interpret the data, you’d see why. But you can’t, so you don’t. Sucks to be you.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:25 PM
“It’s not; any moron – including you – recognizes that.”
Oh, but I thought you were the one telling us that Franken was in good shape and Coleman was in really bad shape, “Big Trouble” I think were your words.
Good, so we agree that Coleman fairing pretty well at this stage of the game. And here I thought you were completely bananas.
“even with Franken at 40, COLEMAN IS IN TROUBLE.”
That’s simply not supported by the data. He doesn’t have the election locked, but he’s certainly not in “trouble.”
Of one thing I’m certain is you’re the last guy on earth to tell anyone how to interpret anything. I can’t remember the last time you reached a conclusion supported by the information at hand.
I think it would be best for you to just go back to radio silence for a couple weeks and regather your thoughts.
I have a good time demolishing your bullshit the past couple days, but I’ve had my fill.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:29 PM
“Oh, but I thought you were the one telling us that Franken was in good shape …”
See, that’s your problem, Son – you don’t think so well, And that’s why you ride the shortbus.
Please demonstrate hich post – by number – where I said Franken was in good shape.
Stop tappin’ your toe to count, boy – you’ll just excite “Swiftee”.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:32 PM
Well, chestnut – ya went an’ done excited “Swiftee”.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:36 PM
Wouldn’t you have to be saying that Franken was in “good shape” if you’re saying that Coleman is in “big trouble”?
I mean, if Coleman is in “big trouble” then the other party in the race must not be in “big trouble”…
Unless you meant to say that Al Franken is sucking wind, but Coleman could still be doing better.
I guess I’d have to agree with that… only, it’s not wind that Al is sucking.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:37 PM
Say, “johnson”?
You never told us that Al was a fat boy chaser.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:38 PM
Chesty, have you seen a picture of “johnson”?
Good shape to him is a full bag of Cheeto’s.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:39 PM
Swiftee is funny.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:40 PM
“Wouldn’t you have to be saying that Franken was in “good shape†if you’re saying that Coleman is in “big troubleâ€? “
No. Clearly he’s not. Chestnut, when you get to a grade that doesn’t include recess, you might be able to figure it out on your own. “Right” now, you can’t. Seek help. Start with your friendly shortbus driver.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:41 PM
I have seen Tommy’s picture. The only thing fatter than his head is his ass… But come to think of it, his head was stuffed in his ass when that photo was taken.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:42 PM
“No. Clearly he’s not. Chestnut”
Al’s “Cheeto bag” is not even half full, eh “johnson”?
Job well done, boy.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:42 PM
LOL,
Usually when Tommy is defeated he starts sputtering stuff about short buses and bootlickers.
Good times.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:43 PM
“Johnson” is the Hopkins VFW’s one man weenie drill team.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:43 PM
Bottom line is, Al Franken’s campaign is going nowhere… and as such, there’s no reason for anyone to conclude that Coleman is in “big trouble.”
Well… no reason to conclude that, unless you’re a half-retarded psych ward inmate with your fat head shoved in your fat ass.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:50 PM
One would think an incumbent senator would be doing much better than a 10 point lead on an accused tax and workers comp cheating vulgarian like Franken.
Seems to me, Norm has peaked. So enjoy this week. The run to November will be a lot rockier.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:51 PM
“Well… no reason to conclude that, unless you’re a half-retarded psych ward inmate with your fat head shoved in your fat ass.”
So, you’ve read “johnson’s” blog and met his fellow bloggers I see.
Seriously though. “johnson”? When Angry Al eats a spicy burrito on Tuesday, do you always get chapped lips on Wednesday?
June 26th, 2008 at 12:52 PM
Go with that, Chestnut. But regular readers know when there’s been a big ol’ can ‘o WhupAss opened on you, you start swearin’ like Cartman.
In just 15 posts, you’ve used the following words, the noted number of times:
“bullshit” – 2
“asshole” – 2
“f-n” – 1
“ass” – 3
“fascist prick” – 2
I guess that means it’s only a small can o’ WhupAss opened on ya, ’cause in actuality you’re not nearly as foul-mouthed on this thread as ya normally are….
June 26th, 2008 at 12:54 PM
OTOH, “swiftee” is at his usual, “Family Values” best….
June 26th, 2008 at 12:56 PM
Hey Flounder,
Quit while your way behind. Scratch that, it’s funny how you constantly get your ass handed to you.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:57 PM
Leroy has nudged an exhausted “johnson” aside and has taken Al’s butt boy duties for the remainder of the afternoon.
Bad day for Team Franken.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:59 PM
Say, “johnson”? Take a knee, boy and have some Cheeto’s.
You’ve earned ‘em.
June 26th, 2008 at 1:00 PM
Don’t ya just love it when a fat little punk writes about cans “O’ WhupAss” as if he’s ever seen such a thing from any other angle than as “receiver of”?
June 26th, 2008 at 1:02 PM
Yeah, when Tommy’s been defeated, he changes the subject. Silence would do just fine, Tommy. In fact, silence from you would be appreciated.
June 26th, 2008 at 1:07 PM
“In fact” is something you’re in short supply, shortbusser.
June 26th, 2008 at 1:09 PM
Say, “johnson”?
Have another Cheeto, boy.
June 26th, 2008 at 1:13 PM
In fact, “johnson”, why not take the whole bag over to your “blog” and write about how Norm Coleman is beating your boy like a bongo.
June 26th, 2008 at 1:18 PM
There seems to be a consistent history of sexual-type writing on MDE that involves RAPE.
The writing is pervasive. Two-Putt Tommy has quantified some of it.
Watch Hollywood “make-believe” movies, or watch news-type documentaries about prisons. This type of [sexual] banter/talk/writing is pervasive in the prisons and on MDE.
June 26th, 2008 at 1:24 PM
El P, it’s the “Family Values” guys here that are obsessed with homosexual activities, including homosexual rape; I’m just pointin’ out that ol’ Chestnut ain’t the sharpest knive in the drawer with the shortbus comments I’ve been directin’ his way.
Well, he’s a bootlicker, too.
June 26th, 2008 at 1:25 PM
“How did the drooling idiot manage to register to vote?”
ACORN helps them, and pays with crack cocaine too!
June 26th, 2008 at 1:43 PM
Yeah, go with that Tommy, if it helps you feel better about yourself.
You have yet to prove me wrong on any subject. You seem to change the subject a lot, but your idiocy is still on full display.
June 26th, 2008 at 1:57 PM
Say “johnson”?
Did you finish that bag o’ Cheeto’s already, fat boy?
Go ahead and get ya another, you earned it.
June 26th, 2008 at 1:59 PM
I feel fine, bootlicker. And I’m confident that once the votes are counted this November, the GreedOverPrinciples party will be in Permanent Minority Status, because the base is filled with whackjobs like you and “Swiftee”.
That’s a mighty small tent you got there, boy – and guys like you and “Swiftee” cause it to get smaller by the day.
June 26th, 2008 at 2:25 PM
Damn it, now I’m back to thinking Tommy is really just Chestnut lampooning Lefties.
There is no real person that out of touch with reality…is there?
One of countless giveaway lines: “Greed over principles partyâ€
What is more greedy then demanding money that you didn’t earn from those that did?
June 26th, 2008 at 2:38 PM
“What is more greedy then demanding money that you didn’t earn from those that did?”
How “right” you are! It was down”right” disgusting, the way DeLay and the republiCons shook down lobbying firms on K-Street! And Abramoff – well, he’s been discussed enough for now, but it’s a fact Abramoff is a GreedOverPrinciples party’s scandal; that’s a fact. Why, Roy Blunt loves lobbyists so much, he ditched his wife to marry one!
June 26th, 2008 at 3:00 PM
“johnson” must have found a box of Ho-ho’s somewhere. He’s back and he’s vigorously battling “Leroy” for the title of Angry Al’s #1 butt boy.
You’re a realy gooooood boy, “johnson”. Have another doughnut.
June 26th, 2008 at 3:07 PM
“And Abramoff – well, he’s been discussed enough for now”
Translation: “Abramof — well, nearly all of my assertions about that guy and his impact on the Minnesota race have been proven false.”
June 26th, 2008 at 4:16 PM
Only where you live, bootlicker – Planet Denial.
Say, did ol’ Smokescreen ever actually give back that $3000 he got from Abramoff like he said he would?
June 26th, 2008 at 8:12 PM
I have no reason to beleive otherwise… How’s your investigation going in to the 60+ Democrats who haven’t bothered to say one way or another whether they’d give back their Abramoff-linked cash?
Democrats have no morals whatsoever. Spineless, anti-American, hypocritical pricks…. just like you Tommy, you worthless, fascist prick.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:06 AM
Well, that’s a mighty wide stance you’re takin’ there, bootlicker.
But, to make your position clear, you’re sayin’ ol’ Smokescreen takin’ cash from Abramoff is ok, because other people did, too?
Quit tappin’ yer toe while ya think, boy – you’re gettin’ “Swiftee” excited….
June 27th, 2008 at 10:39 AM
Tommy,
Norm never took any cash from Abramoff. You admitted as much yesterday, you idiot.
June 27th, 2008 at 10:52 AM
Just tryin’ to see if you’ve woken up after your nap at recess, boy!
But, if Norm didn’t think there was a problem with that Abramoff-related dough, why did he claim he was gonna return it, or donate it to charity?
June 27th, 2008 at 11:59 AM
Hey Tommy,
How’s your research going into what those 60+ Democrats are doing with the Abramoff money?
June 27th, 2008 at 2:01 PM
Hey, Chestnut – the research on ol’ Smokescreen is goin’ slow; for instance: for some reason, Mark Drake hasn’t called back.
June 27th, 2008 at 11:13 PM
