ANOTHER WEEK, ANOTHER ROUND OF EXPENSES – BUT I’M NOT COMPLAINING
By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 27, 2008

As I wrote last week, it costs money to attend the Republican National Convention – even if you live in Minnesota. The largest expense will be for the hotel.
But I also have to pay a delegate fee – $350 - to the Republican Party of Minnesota (MN GOP). The fee covers expenses incurred by the MN GOP for providing transportation for delegates and their guests to attend convention events. The fee also covers the expense for food and other materials provided at delegation meetings.
I attended the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York as a staffer for the MN GOP. I know the work that goes into coordinating the activities of Minnesota delegates. The $350 fee is very reasonable. In total, attending the Republican National Convention as a delegate will cost me close to $2,000. It’s a once in a life-time event and well worth the cost.

As someone who had the high honor of attending 2 National Conventions, I can guarantee that you will get your 2-large worth out of it. For a Republican activist, it is a wonderful experience, and one you will always remember. I almost feel bad for the Paulbotz who are not and never really were Republicans who got elected. They may end up feeling shortchanged. Delegates to the State Convention and the CD’s might learn something from this; elect Nat’l Delegates who have EARNED it!

Does that 2-large include a tour of the Larry Craig Memorial Stall at MSP?

No, Coleman Exposer, I suppose that’s one thing the two national conventions might not have in common.

Perhaps Jeff Larson has a spare cot in his suite.
