COMPARE SENATOR SCHUMER’S FULL HOUSE TO SENATOR COLEMAN’S SMALL BEDROOM
By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 1, 2008

The picture on the left from the New York Times, is of a home rented by DSCC Chairman Senator Chuck Schumer. For $750 per month, Senator Schumer has access to the entire home, which includes access to a full kitchen and living room. The picture on the right from National Journal, is of a home where Senator Coleman rents a small bedroom with a bathroom in the basement for $600 per month.
Senator Schumer has access to the entire home for $750 per month, while Senator Coleman only has access to a small basement bedroom for $600 per month. I look forward to reading the news about CREW complaint against Senator Schumer. I won’t hold my breath, because CREW’s executive director once worked for Schumer. Let’s be clear: CREW is a Team Franken front-group.

Schumer’s had TV crews in his place; when is Norm opening up for the cameras?
I might be able to clear my calendar, next week. Have your peeps get back to mine, will ya, Michael?
July 1st, 2008 at 3:50 pm
Again, Dems grasping at straws. I believe voters will vote for the guy who rents a small bedroom over a guy who doesn’t pay his taxes any day and who thinks rape is funny any day of the week.
July 1st, 2008 at 3:50 pm
Schumer shares his pad with several well-known roomies.
Who is Norm sharing his place with?
July 1st, 2008 at 3:52 pm
Wow you guys are in full defense mode on this Coleman living issue.
I actually don’t see this as having “legs”
Can we please get back to attacking rather than defending

If CREW barks in the woods and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
CREW… gimme a break.

Schumer: Rents from another congressman
Coleman: Rents from a lobbyist.
Schumer: Pays his rent.
Coleman: Sometimes pays his rent
Schumer: Has three congressional roommates
Coleman: Shares his apartment with a lobbying firm
I could go on…

Who gives a shit were any of the elected live?
The Cost of living in DC is Twice what it is here in Minnesota.
July 1st, 2008 at 4:23 pm
I live in DC. I could find a place to share with roommates for $750 a month each easily. When I rented a 1 bedroom basement apt. on Capitol Hill it cost over $1000 a month - 4 years ago.
Who do I have to give access to to get a deal like Coleman’s?
July 1st, 2008 at 4:31 pm
As I stated in the 1960’s - 1970’s JOHN KERRY lived in the Republic of South Vietnam for FREE at government expense.
Norm Coleman did NOT live in the Republic of South Vietnam in that he was an anti-war protester and did not pass his NEW YORK draft physical.
July 1st, 2008 at 4:33 pm
JOHN KERRY’S living quarters as a military person THEN were a lot smaller than what Norm Coleman has NOW.
July 1st, 2008 at 4:34 pm
StPaulieGirl: I suggest you contact Senator Schumer’s office - he received a great deal.
For $750 per month, Senator Schumer has access to the entire home, which includes access to a full kitchen and living room. Senator Coleman rents a small bedroom with a bathroom in the basement for $600 per month.

stpauliegirl, you’re missing the point. You rented an APARTMENT. You had a kitchen, and may have had a living room. Coleman just has a tiny bedroom and a bathroom.
Leroy Jenkins, Coleman paid rent, even if it was late a couple of months.

Michael, Norm has access to the basement’s media center and oak bar listed in the 2007 real estate ad, right?

Sound the alarm–Norm’s pants are on fire!
Who cares about Schumer? He’s not running for anything in Minnesota is he? And Mikey, we’ll be waiting for your evidence that CREW is a “Team Franken front group.” You have really made a leap here. Scared?

Franken moves on the federal gas tax
Posted at 3:04 PM on July 1, 2008 by Tom Scheck (0 Comments)
MPR’s Mark Zdechlik reports that Al Franken’s website says the DFL candidate for U.S. Senate no longer supports a federal gas tax increase. You can read the report here.
NO SURPRISE!!!!! Why can’t we have a candidate who doesn’t flop all over when opinion polls show him down.

Yoni,
According to the liberal playbook, chapter 1 one page 2.
“The person who you accuse is presummed guilty.”
July 1st, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Norm does not deny the following charges:
1) He pays way under market price for an apartment.
2) He is renting from a lobbyist
3) He has skipped rent on occasion without consequence.
Seems to me, this is more than an allegation of impropriety, it is a total conviction. And rather than simply admit the lapse in judgment while moving to a less ethically challenged address, Norm is simply denying that there is anything wrong with accepting such gifts from lobbyists.
This is why he is wrong for Minnesota.

what are you blathering about hype?
July 1st, 2008 at 8:43 pm
leroy,
you need to go back and research your facts. at least 2 of the 3 are blatantly wrong.
coleman contends the rents are fmv. there may be others that say it is not, but not coleman.
he is not renting from a lobbyist. he is renting from a gop supporter. you need to be registered to be a lobbyist.
and the final point, i understood based on news reports he had made payment of the delinquent rents, not “skipped” them.
July 1st, 2008 at 10:00 pm
I checked on rents in Washington a few hours ago, and I discovered The Metropolitan, a very nice older apartment building in central D.C., which is offering efficiency apartments for $800. That’s an actual apartment, with privacy and security, a kitchen, above ground, with no one else sharing any part of that. Anyone who says Coleman got a special deal just doesn’t want to know the truth. They just want to have their lynching.

“you need to go back and research your facts. “
Why? the bootlickers were tossin’ misinformation around ’bout Franken, but I don’t you remember complainin’ ’bout that.

Ansel-
For Norm to state that he was paying fair market value, he would have to either be colossally stupid, or believe that the voters are. To wit, I will provide you with the link to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, who tracks fair market values for rent. To save you the time, for 2007, they said that an efficiency apartment, which this does not seem to be, would be $995. That means that Norm is paying roughly 40 percent LESS than fair market value for the cheapest type of housing identified.

You are correct on the second point. He is no longer a registered lobbyist. And in a sign of good taste for the people of Minnesota, he has also apparently divested from the firm that supports rouge nations. I guess you could say he is like the Pat Shortridge of this fiasco. Shortridge, if you recall, was the former Enron lobbyist who came to town to help get Mark Kennedy into the Senate.
And, if making delinquent payments is a defense, then what was all the dust up about Al Franken I heard from your side earlier this year?

There’s obviously one difference between the Republican Party of Minnesota (“RPM”), and C.R.E.W. (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington): when republiCon Ron feels there’s a wrong been done, he files a press release. When C.R.E.W. feels a wrong has been done, they file a complaint.

Leroy, you’re a bloody moron. A bedroom and a bathroom are a lot cheaper than an efficiency apartment. With no kitchen or den/living room, it isn’t as desirable an accommodation. It doesn’t matter that a government agency doesn’t have a category for housing less than an efficiency apartment.

Grasping anything possible is what Democrats in trouble usually do as they continue to lie and cheat their way toward the November election. Only a fool would listen to any of these typing monkey’s. Most of whom still free load off their parents so they don’t understand actually paying rent.

Nobody has answered my question yet: What office is Chuck Schumer running for in Minnesota? Is this website New York Democrats Exposed? WTF?
July 2nd, 2008 at 8:01 am
Gee Coleman Exposer you sure got us all there. We just can’t answer your deep, probing questions so I guess maybe you can tell us. We can’t figure it out even with Google Search. Go ahead because your just dying to spill the beans.
Smart people like you are really great to have around so we can ask you to answer important meaningful questions that stump us common folk. And to prove your brain is bigger and better (even after smoking pot since the 7th grade) it you are going to include a link to your highly rated ranked self published blog that will blow away MDE. Right??

I don’t see an American Flag flying at Chucks moonbat pad, if he has run of the place don’t you think he should fly the Stars and Stripes?

I wonder if NORM would consider it inappropriate for him to fly any VETERANS FOR PEACE BANNER?
What about the CHICKENHAWK BANNER?
