Say Leroy? one of the things Dayton ran on during his campaign was how he was not going to take a paycheck from the taxpayers and was going to donate his pay, Can ya remember one of the first things he tried to backtarck on after his election win was?

Did ya miss that typical lib thing?

Teacher's are over-represented in Government, Doctors are under-represented in Government. Teachers get in a vote for their own pay-raises. There are great teachers and terrible teachers, just like any other profession. But unlike other professions they get paid the same no matter how lousy they are.

How many members of the MN Legislature are teachers? A ton.

Tommy, only you would be desperate enough to use Tim Walz's military service as a shield.

Tim Walz is still just an empty semen sack. And worthy of being de-elected.

Republicans do not undervalue teachers. You could say that Democrats "overvalue" them, but that would understate the case.

Most folks who are pulling for teachers lie and say they are pulling for "the children", and for the most part refuse to put a relative value on teaching labor. The status quo is just "not enough".

There is nothing, not even a little bit, wrong with being a history teacher. It is simply not as impressive as being an Oncologist (at a prestigious institution no less) OR being a nuclear engineer. *shrug*

History teacher.

And why do Republicans undervalue being a teacher so much? It's not the most glamorous job or take the most education and in-depth knowledge of something, but we're all certainly a product of them.

I repeat- every conservative should be throwing money at this guy- even if he can't win this time. He's a Mayo Oncologist and a Nuclear Engineer. A fantastic speaker. Walz was a Gym Teacher? Don't remember.

And Dick Day should get out of the way.

Troy - "secret policy discussions" vehemently kept hidden leads to the logical conclusion of a "secret plan."

Here's a tack you should agree with, based on your political philosophy: if they didn't have a secret plan, what are they trying to hide?

Brian Davis threw in $100,000 of his own money on the last day of the quarter to his campaign. Nothing wrong with that. Makes his numbers look good.

The campaign began the quarter with $50,445.50 cash-on-hand and about $10,000 in unpaid bills. During Q2, itemized contributions of $200 or more totaled $238,671.00, while small contributions added up to $29,709.55.

Although the report lists $376,718.72 cash on hand, the Davis campaign owes $19,513.82 to its vendors. So far, Brian Davis has loaned or given $184,614.26 to his campaign in 2008 cycle.

Meanwhile, Tim Walz raised $430,000 from 2,500 contributors in Q2, with no bills owed to vendors, over $1.2 million cash on hand. Over $2 million has been raised since announcing his re-election bid. There is a lot of support for Walz. The fundraising numbers will increase as the Fall election approaches.

Makes me wonder how much the NRCC is going to kick in. Not much I am figuring. The track record of Tom Cole in losing 3 Red Districts in Special Elections this year, this race will not even be close. Tim Walz has over a 40 point lead over Brian Davis at the moment.

Regardless, the poll that came out like a month ago showed Walz beating Davis and whatever the other guy's name is by like 30%. And, Walz raised $430,000.

http://www.bluestemprairie.com/a_bluestem_prairie/2008/07/walz-raises-est.html

Walz is going to win by a pretty solid margin. You guys should focus on at least retaining MN-2, MN-3, and MN-6. Much better shots are getting a Republican elected there than MN-1.

I said I never defended Cheney, FiercelyIndependent, not that I was entirely ignorant of everything Cheney has done while Vice President. You found information on the "secret plan" while googling? All I found was:

1) Cheney had "secret policy discussions" with energy industry leaders (which I already knew)
2) A lot of grousing about #1
3) Some cheap conspiracy theories about #1

Are you proposing that the "secret plan" is revealed on one of the #3 web sites? *shrug*

Who cares about the energy task force?

I think the headline of this story, if it had been written by anyone credible, would be:

"Davis loans his own campaign 1/3 of it's money"

You all ripped Mark Dayton for buying his senate seat (he did). So, where are you when it comes to Brian Davis attempting the same thing in a congressional race?

I think Tommy and Fiercely should sit down and shut up about the "Cheney Secret Energy Task Force". There's no secret about it, and it's the same deal that Harry Reid gets from the Moveon.org crowd.

Those who use Cheney to demonize Davis are doing nothing more than killing their potential valid arguments against Davis's win against an empty semen sack named Tim Walz.

Tommy:

There is no secret plan. It is to drill for oil (which Democrats won't do) to lower prices.

It is to use coal and nuclear (which Democrats won't do) to lower prices.

The secret plan as you refer to is the Democrats driving up the price of energy for people because the Democrats don't care what the price of energy is.

Question away, TommyJohnson, but I don't know if you are qualified to pose the question.

You obviously think you know much more about "Cheney’s secret energy plan" than I, so please elaborate.

Also, I don't remember ever defending Cheney, so please let me know where it is you got that impression.

Well, Troy, I'm questioning yours.

Of course, your not having a clue about Cheney's secret energy plan helps explain your continued support for Boy Blunder.

Wow. This logic is right out of the play book of the Underpants Gnomes:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/dd/Gnomes_plan.png
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underpants_Gnomes

So we have:

1) secret policy discussions
2) ???
3) oil is $140 +/- a barrel, $4 +/- a gallon

where "??? == Secret RepubliCon Plan" in TommyJohnson's world, correct?

Do you really routinely question other folks grasp on reality TommyJohnson?

Leroy, When a majority of Al Franken's money comes from out of Minnesota, is it really accurate to call his campaign a grassroots effort? Certainly given your above argument you'd agree.

When you donate $124,000 to your own campaign, of course it is going to look like there is a groundswell of support.

I find it funny that after giving himself $124,000, that the campaign only has $376,000 on hand.

When 1/3 of your money is coming from the candidate himself, is it really accurate to call it a grassroots effort?

Troy, in 2001, right after taking office, Cheney convened his cronies from enegy companies for a series of secret policy discussions. And now oil is $140 +/- a barrel, $4 +/- a gallon.

So if Davis is running "to finding solutions to gas prices", he's running against Boy Blunder And The Plunderers.

Which is kind of funny, as Davis was just up in Wayzata for a fundraiser with Cheney as the "special guest."

Only a republiCon runs against the policies of a guy who helps raise him dough for his run.

And it sounds like Davis is indeed, a republiCon.

Very impressive numbers. I'm hearing that people now see this race as being seriously in play for Davis.

Walz better watch his own backyard rather than running for Governor like he has been. He is no where near safe in that seat.

There is no way an Obama/Franken Democrat like Walz will ever be totally safe in MN01.

<em>"Voters are responding to our message focused on finding solutions to gas prices, energy, and an out-of-control federal budget.” said Davis."</em>

Someone should remind Davis that he's not running against Gutknecht; Gutknecht lost 2 years ago.
