FRANKEN’S TRADEMARK SEXUAL ASSAULT HUMOR ON DISPLAY AT AIR AMERICA: FRANKEN MOCKS SEXUAL ASSAULT AGAINST PAULA JONES

By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 9, 2008

As Michael Gerson’s “Franken’s satire doesn’t pass the test” column in the Star Tribune today follows the hideous attempt by Michael Kinsley’s effort to excuse Al Franken’s vile history of joking about drugging and raping women, a new video has surfaced that shows another Al Franken trademark sexual assault humor.

This time, it was discovered in a hardly viewed YouTube clip where Al Franken is attacking U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.  While Franken launches into another vitriolic attack against a Republican, he just cannot help himself.  At 2:15 of the YouTube clip, Franken comments:

“The Republicans impeached the President of the United States on a perjury technicality, by her definition now, which by the way I never thought was perjury. The perjury that they said he did was in the Paula Jones deposition. And if you remember the Paula Jones deposition, the Paula Jones attorneys were trying to get cute by defining sex and they defined sex as someone touching another person’s buttocks, breasts or genitals with the intent to arouse or gratify the other person. Now, we know that he touched her breasts for example, but I don’t think that was the intent to arouse her or gratify her. I think that was for balance. That’s what I think.”

Now remember, this is from Franken’s “Air America” show – not his Saturday Night Live days where Franken thought jokes about drugging and raping women were funny.

Instead, this is Franken finding it funny that a man grabbed a woman’s breast without her consent (most people might call that sexual assault) and Franken cracks a joke about it.

What is it about Al Franken and sexually demeaning comedy that is geared at women? How much more of it is out there?

It’s pathetic, at best, for Franken to degrade a woman because he wants to attack a Republican Senator and defend former President Bill Clinton.  But, how much more evidence do Minnesota Democrats need to understand they have endorsed an extremely flawed candidate?

Recent public opinion polls show that Franken’s nose dive is directly related to a growing understanding that Franken’s comedy routines weren’t all fun and games.  There is an exceptionally dark side to a man who feels compelled to make a living off of the vicious attacks he makes against women in his comedy routines.

Excuse me for being so blunt about this, but I appalled at the thought that this man and the party that endorsed him feel so smug that his past career will not be a part of this campaign.

Unfortunately for the Minnesota DFL and every DFL candidate (including Senator Barack Obama) who has to run with the vulgarity of Al Franken on their backs, the burden at the polls for their arrogance of endorsing him as their U.S. Senate candidate will be a heavy price for them to pay in November.

Yes!!!!!! Keep it coming. Thank you Michael.

    Michael-

What side are you on? Do you want Mike Ciresi to jump into the race because you think he’s the weaker candidate or do you want Democratic discord or have you just decided to start attacking Franken before the 15th?

    I’m really curious actually.

Thanks Michael, from all the women in Minnesota who don’t appreciate these kind of remarks. Senator Hutchinson and Paula Jones deserve to be respected not used as fodder for Franken’s benefit. It’s incredulous that the DFL in Minnesota nominated this sexist.

It seems to me that when the MDE & MN Publius LOVE-IN/HAPPENING/TGIWednesday, etc. was first advertised, one of the announced topics of conversation was going to be verbal speculation about Mike Ciresi.

Mike took on Big Tobacco and won. [Just] One of the articles of the settlement was that the State of Minnesota receives $200 MILLION [DOLLARS] each year that the tobacco companies sell tobacco in the State of Minnesota.

Perhaps TPT will be the only media present there today, and then again perhaps not.

One could always call the media to find out if they have received any word from the potential candidates that they are quietly placing [as opposed to throwing] their hat in the ring before the deadline in a few days.

Minnesotans may tire of seeing two NEW YORK NATIVES throwing stuff at each other, while playing “PICKLE” in the game of “PICKLE in the middle.”

There is NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY, NEW MEXICO, etc.

This is MINNESOTA; it is not NEW MINNESOTA.

Candidates for Governor swim in pools. Perhaps they’ll have a special on a drink called a Grunseth today. It heard that it is chlorinated water with two cherries.

I THINK WE SHOULD KEEP SPECULATING ABOUT MIKE CIRESI.

As Franken’s campaign goes from worse to worser, from deep in the hole to deeper in the hole, it is more likely that Ciresi will jump back in.

VENTURA IS INTERESTING BUT NOT AS INTERESTING AS CIRESI.

If Ventura enters the race, he will stay to the end. Ciresi would run as a democrat. If Ciresi beats Franken in the primary fight, well, then bye bye Al. Unlike Ventura, who would really have no affect on Franken in the primary, Ciresi could do fatal damage to Franken’s campaign.

AS THINGS get worse for Franken, and he gets further behind in public supportm, Ciresi will be itching to get back in. And don’t think others won’t want him in.

all DFLers who are now thinking about voting for Coleman would far rather vote for Ciresi than Coleman–that’s not debatable.

Republicans thinking about voting DFL would much rather vote Ciresi than Franken–that not debatable.

So Ciresi gains those unhappy Dems and Republicans, and those Independents for when he scares off Jesse. More than enough to beat Franken in a primary.

Gee, Michael – I can see your outrage at this; after all, vulgarity isn’t ever in any jokes uttered in the Party Of Pawlenty, is it?

What was that that T-Paw joked about his butter, er, ‘scuse me, “better” half? Wasn’t that before T-Paw joked his wife wouldn’t give him any?

But you guys think T-Paw joking about his wife bein’ useful for nothing but sex is fine, doncha?

    As well he should.

  8. Dash Riprock Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 2:24 PM

Flounder – the thread is about Franken not Pawlenty.

  9. Tommy Johnson Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 2:29 PM

The tread is about vulgarity, of which T-Paw has uttered Pawlenty.

Oh, but you guys don’t have a problem when T-Paw jokes about oral sex with his wife, at a press conference, do you?

    WCCO-TV

Hypocrisy is mandatory to belong in the GreedOverPrinciples party.

Which, of course, makes you a bona fide GOPer, Rash Dispstick.

You know people on the left are unhappy with the new and rich contracts that Rush Limbaugh and laura E got. The problem is that if Franken is the best that Air America can produce you can understand why nobody on the Air America side is worth a hundred thousand a year tops.

    Tommy,

I went to the link and watched the video.

Your seriously trying to compare the 2?

    You need help.

  12. Tommy Johnson Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 3:20 PM

So, you don’t think Pawlenty’s sick, oral sex joke was vulgar?

And T-Paw’s sick oral-sex joke was on the evening news; not on a radio station that according to bootlickers, no one listens to.

You GreedOverPrinciples types are hypocrites, which, after all, is what Franken’s discussion was about.

  13. The Audacity of HYPE Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 3:32 PM

    Tommy, are a puritan?

  14. The Audacity of HYPE Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 3:34 PM

So Tommy thinks a joke between a husband and wife, even though it was in public, is the same as mocking a sexual assault.

And he sees no difference in the two.

  15. Tommy Johnson Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 3:59 PM

“And he sees no difference in the two.”

So, you think it’s ok that the Governor makes an oral sex joke at an official event, where there very well could be minor children in attendance.

    Bully for you.

Such “family values” you espouse, pal.

But what really takes the cake, is bootlickers complaining about Franken’s joke, while ignoring Norm Coleman who ignored FORCED PROSTITUTION and FORCED ABORTION on American Territory.

In Colorado, the voters have caught on to the GreedOverPrinciples candidate; ol’ Smokescreen ain’t gonna get away with it here, either.

  16. Swiftee Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 4:20 PM

Folks, a word of caution here.

All this talk about sexual perversion and boot licking is getting cheeto boy all excited. Pretty soon he’ll be typing one handed posts about male organs again and his poor mom will have to come down tonight and clean up the mess.

So, out of respect for poor Mrs. Cheeto Boy, let’s tone it down.

He’s about due to run out of twinkies and chips anyway, so he’ll be gone long enough to hit the SuperAmerica real soon.

  17. The Audacity of HYPE Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 5:33 PM

    Tommy,

    1. He was talking about a BUTTER SCULPTURE.

    2. How many MINORS attend government press conferences?

    3. When EXACTLY do you allege

  18. The Audacity of HYPE Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 5:34 PM

the forced prostitution and forced abortion? Other than at planned parenthood.

  19. Barbarak Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 7:36 PM

Thanks for the link to the youtube clip. For those that watched it all, you saw Franken prove Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison to be a hypocrite. Nice job Al!
Regarding Franken’s remark about Clinton touching Paula Jones “for balance”, I found it funny. We all known Clinton was not trying to provide sexual gratification to Paula Jones, he was only concerned about his own sexual gratification.

  20. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 8:38 PM

    Audacity-

To your question about minors attending press conferences, I guess I would ask you how many minors read Playboy?

There were probably a few hundred subscribers in this state who may have seen that piece in the magazine ten years ago. But since Michael and Ron Carey dug it back up, now most of Minnesota has heard about it.

Who is doing more harm to Minnesota? The guy whose piece is read by a few hundred adults, or the guys who put the info into the hands of a few thousand minors?

  21. The Audacity of HYPE Says:
    July 10th, 2008 at 10:47 AM

    Seriously Leroy?

My guess is that a hell of a lot more minors look at Playboy(reading might be a different story) than attend state government press conferences.

So I guess they should just let it slide that Franken has a an incredible dis-respect for woman, that has been shown time and time again?

I can’t belive libs always try to go to the “It’s for the children” line of bull so often.
