REMINDER: MDE AND MN PUBLIUS BI-PARTISAN HAPPY HOUR TONIGHT

By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 9, 2008

This is a reminder that the first Minnesota Democrats Exposed & MN Publius Bi-Partisan Happy Hour is tonight at Billy’s on Grand in St. Paul. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. This isn’t just a blogger event, although free Wi-Fi is available if you wish to blog. This event is an opportunity for people of differing political parties to get together and have fun for a few hours.

The response to the event has been overwhelmingly positive. TPT’s TV crew will be in attendance, so make sure you behave.

Bloggers, non-bloggers, Republicans, Democrats, Independents, reporters, and candidates for office are all invited. If you can read this post, you’re invited.

UPDATE: Tonight’s event was a smashing success!  Click here for pictures.  I want to thank everyone for attending.  I’ll have more on this event tomorrow.

I thought it was being moved to Kincaid’s in Bloomington?

  2. el presidente Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 2:30 PM

When this was first announced on June 18, 2008 in the lower left hand corner was:

    “Topics: Mike Ciresi, Uncategorized”

Jesse was supposed to have said something today about being in a dark alley and who would you the safest with [Coleman, Franken, or Ventura].

That might be starters for “uncategorized.”

Mike Ciresi fought Big Tobacco and one (1) of the features of the settlement was that the State of Minnesota receives $200 MILLION [dollars] annually, as long as the tobacco companies in Minnesota.

Ventura would probably want a TRI-partisan happy hour label: DFL, GOP, IND.

Mike Ciresi would probably ask, “What were Norm, Al & Jesse up to in a dark alley?”

  3. Patrick Black Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 2:41 PM

I’ll say it again: I THINK WE SHOULD KEEP SPECULATING ABOUT MIKE CIRESI.

As Franken’s campaign goes from worse to worser, from deep in the hole to deeper in the hole, it is more likely that Ciresi will jump back in.

VENTURA IS INTERESTING BUT NOT AS INTERESTING AS CIRESI.

If Ventura enters the race, he will stay to the end. Ciresi would run as a democrat. If Ciresi beats Franken in the primary fight, well, then bye bye Al. Unlike Ventura, who would really have no affect on Franken in the primary, Ciresi could do fatal damage to Franken’s campaign.

AS THINGS get worse for Franken, and he gets further behind in public supportm, Ciresi will be itching to get back in. And don’t think others won’t want him in.

all DFLers who are now thinking about voting for Coleman would far rather vote for Ciresi than Coleman–that’s not debatable.

Republicans thinking about voting DFL would much rather vote Ciresi than Franken–that not debatable.

So Ciresi gains those unhappy Dems and Republicans, and those Independents for when he scares off Jesse. More than enough to beat Franken in a primary.

  4. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 4:06 PM

Minnesotans would much rather vote for Jesse Ventura than Norm Coleman.

    We have already established that.

Can’t wait to bring the point home with y’all in person tonight…

  5. Patrick Black Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 4:45 PM

    Leroy,

That may be true, but in an election of Franken V Jesse V Coleman, Jesse and Franken will split democrats, and Jesse and Coleman will split Republicans. Meaning Coleman wins.

  6. Patrick Black Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 4:46 PM

Correction: Jesse and Coleman will split Independents, and Coleman will have most of the Republicans. Meaning Coleman wins.

  7. Troy Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 5:06 PM

I see that some people don’t know why Jesse Ventura didn’t run for a second term as Minnesota Governor.

I think it was something about “no chance of winning”…

  8. The Audacity of HYPE Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 5:38 PM

I voted for Ventura the last time as a message to both parties.

But things have changed. The biggest being that Jesse is now one of the nut-job 9/11 truthers.

Ventura almost as much of a non-factor as Tommy and Leroy are.

Althouhg he would take the some looney left 9/11 truthers from Franken.

  9. Patrick Black Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 5:50 PM

Anyone who is a 9/11 truther is totally screwed up in the head.

  10. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 9:53 PM

    Hey Leroy,
How did the Democrat do against Jesse in that race? You remember Humphry, right? DFL legacy. Years in the AG’s office. Fond memories of his father. It was his election to lose.

    And boy did he ever.

I believe Jesse won with 38 percent. How badly did Humphry do to come in a distant third?

    LOL!

  11. el presidente Says:
    July 9th, 2008 at 10:38 PM

I just noticed that the donkey had four (4) stars and the elephant had three (3) stars. However, the elephant’s stars were somewhat larger than the donkey’s stars. If anyone noticed perhaps it gave the BI-PARTISAN, TRI-PARTISAN, QUAD-PARTISAN, etc. crowd something to talk about.

  12. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    July 10th, 2008 at 1:24 AM

    Kyle-

To quote famous race car driver Reece Bobby, “If you ain’t first, you’re last”.

Norm and Skip were each weak candidates. And they lost. Arguing about percentages of the losers is like betting on a civil war in a leper colony.

  13. Residual Forces » Blog Archive » An RF Update Says:
    July 10th, 2008 at 6:52 AM

[...] Last night was a blast. Thanks to Michael and the Pu+ lads for putting it together. It was nice to get a chance to talk to some old friends after hatchets buried.  [...]

  14. el presidente Says:
    July 10th, 2008 at 8:40 AM

    ……………….On joining the military…

AAA of RF (Residual Forces) states, “One answer was that I exceeded the height to weight ratio for the US Marines.”

Did he also exceed the height to weight ratio for the US Army?

  15. Swiftee Says:
    July 10th, 2008 at 1:59 PM

Nice shot of Cheeto Boy’s bulging gut, Mike.

Any estimates of how many plates of wings our boy went through?

One benefit of meeting asshats like Cheeto Boy face to face is that when his pie hole is full of food he’s quiet.

  16. Eva Young Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 12:03 AM

I’m sorry to have missed it. Hopefully there will be another event later this summer or early fall.

  17. Swiftee Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 10:29 AM

Now *there’s* something I *would* show up to see.

A belly bucking contest between the Dumpster Queen and Cheeto Boy!!

  18. BI-PARTISAN HAPPY HOUR ON “ALMANAC” TONIGHT | Minnesota Democrats Exposed Says:

[...] reporter Mary Lahammer’s story on the MDE-MN Publius Bi-Partisan Happy Hour will air tonight on “Almanac.”  Again, I want to thank everyone who attended.  [...]
