TEAM FRANKEN MELTDOWN: AFTER MDE POST ON PAULA JONES, TEAM FRANKEN HASTILY CALLS PRESS CONFERENCE TO UNVEIL “WOMEN FOR FRANKEN”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 9, 2008
I am rushing to a hastily called press conference by Team Franken. I can’t miss this event. Apparently they are going to unveil “Women for Franken” and have the Minnesota DFL Feminist Caucus remind people why they endorsed a guy who made jokes about drugging and raping a woman. This is the same group whose president stepped down instead of trying to defend the DFL Feminist Caucus endorsement of Franken.
This is a total meltdown that I am sure has been spurred on by the Star Tribune publishing the Michael Gerson article about Franken’s sexist comedy routines and the Paula Jones post I put up on Minnesota Democrats Exposed earlier today. Team Franken’s hastily called press event is stepping all over their launch of new their TV ad.
Please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed for more information on this developing story.
UPDATE: MN Publius is reporting that Team Franken notified the press about this event two hours before my post went up. I have serious doubts about their claims. According to my sources, the Associated Press Daybook wasn’t updated with details about this event until around 11:30 A.M., which was after I published my post.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAahahahahahaaaaaa!

This is not an election, this is like some TV show on NBC that fails after the first week.

How again is calling a press conference a “total melt down?”
July 9th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
Say, PlyDem?
BWAHAHahahahahahaaaaa!

Didnt Bill Clinton like to unveil women too?
July 9th, 2008 at 2:32 pm
Has anyone asked Katherine Lanpher what she thinks of the rape jokes?
July 9th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
Michael, where did you get the idea this was a “hastily call(ed) press conference”?
July 9th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
Not too “hastily” called….I received the invite over 2 weeks ago - only the location was up in the air. Day and time had been fixed long before.
I didn’t see you there, Michael. I did see Ron Carey, the GOP tracker and the unpleasant woman in the front row taking notes for the GOP……just exactly where were you?
I was in the 2nd row…..
July 9th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
CherylP,
Why exactly was the woman taking notes unpleasant?
Did she have bad odor? Did she heckel? Did she hit everyone in the room with her purse?
Or do you always personally attack anyone who has a different viewpoint than you do?
July 9th, 2008 at 3:54 pm
“Or do you always personally attack anyone who has a different viewpoint than you do?”
Doncha just hate it, when Democrats act like republiCons?
July 9th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Not at all, audacity. She sat in the front row with her mouth pursed, a scowl on her face looking like she was sucking lemons. I personally call that “unpleasant”…..
I don’t at all always call people “names” when I don’t agree with them. I actually do know Michael and think he’s a fine family man - one with whom I can share a pleasant conversation but disagree on issues.

So, two weeks ago, the Franken campaign became so convinced that the Star Tribune was going to run an opinion piece that is likely to cause more insomnia than public debate, that they called a press conference to refute it’s findings?
How exactly can you call two weeks notice hasty, or see it as an indicator of melt down mode? Just because they didn’t personally invite MDE doesn’t mean they didn’t invite the legitimate media.
And I don’t know about you, but I like the idea of having a senator like Al Franken who sees problems coming, rather than a guy like Norm Coleman, who won’t even admit to mistakes once they have occurred.
To wit:
Q: “Based on what you know now, was your support for the war then wrong?”
A: “Um, No”
July 9th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Or, in the alternative, the Franken campaign saw MDE’s post this morning, quickly created the Women for Franken materials (videos, website, press releases, etc.) and an hour later called a press conference to announce the initiative to counter the devastating MDE piece. That’s quite impressive work considering the campaign was in melt-down mode.

I don’t at all always call people “names” when I don’t agree with them.
No, you just make judgments about people based on your perception of a “scowl”, a “mouth pursed” (whatever that is), or a face that looks like “sucking lemons”. That’s so much better.

Yeah, Cheryl, she was just super ugly, that’s all. Come on, be cool about this.
July 9th, 2008 at 9:24 pm
You know, I used to think that Al Franken was running for office, but now I realize that for the last few years he’s actually been writing scripts for future episodes of a weekly unreality show called Minnesota’s Strangest Campaign Bloopers. What’s ironic is that his show gets more attention as his ratings go down.

Is Swiftee looking in a mirror while he’s at the keyboard or what?
July 10th, 2008 at 10:42 am
You know, Dude, she wasn’t ugly at all. That’s what was so sad. She looked so unhappy and her demeanor was unpleasant. Most people were chatting, smiling, enjoying the gorgeous day and she was just so unpleasant and scowling. It was incongruous to the occasion. If she smiled and actually made eye contact with anyone, she might have found that Democrats aren’t devils.

“If she smiled and actually made eye contact with anyone, she might have found that Democrats aren’t devils.”
LOL! It was an Al Franken event! It was inherently pure BS.
A bunch of disingenious, power hungry Democrat women selling out their ilk to protect their spot on the ladder.
The cold-hearted, power hungry justifications those Democrat women must have spun for themselves to enable them to keep their gorges in place as they sang Al “Porn-O-Rama” Franken’s praises is beyond comprehension.
You say a woman had a sour look on her face? Well dear, maybe that’s because she hadn’t forgotten she was a woman.
Devils? No. That doesn’t quite describe them, does it?
July 10th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Honestly, swiftee, I know lots of Republicans. I am friends with many. I just don’t understand the vehemence that I find on Michael’s blog. Michael, himself, isn’t unpleasant and can actually hold a conversation with a Democrat without ire.
Disagreeing over policy, over candidates, over views of the world is one thing. Being unable to speak to other human beings because they may not agree with you is altogether another thing.
