COLEMAN FOR U.S. SENATE PRESS RELEASE: “FRANKEN FILING ENSURES CLEAR CHOICE FOR MINNESOTANS IN SENATE ELECTION”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 10, 2008

St. Paul – The Coleman for Senate campaign today issued the following statement regarding Al Franken’s official filing for candidacy this afternoon:

“Al Franken’s filing today ensures Minnesotans will have a crystal clear choice in this election,” said Cullen Sheehan, campaign manager.  “They will have a choice between Norm Coleman’s thirty-year record of working together to get things done for Minnesotans and Al Franken’s thirty-year record of vulgar humor, partisan attacks and no accomplishments for the people of this state. We look forward to highlighting that contrast from now through Election Day.”

If it indeed ensures such a clear choice, then perhaps Pat Kessler wasn’t as clear last night as you apparently are today.

  2. Mike Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 6:18 AM

And of course there is also the option of a real fiscal conservitive, Jesse Ventura.

Once a Demorat always a Democrat, sorry Norm.

  3. jay Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 8:29 AM

Jesse is no fiscal conservative. Norm is a fairly conservative Democrat. Al is a far out, big spending, whack job, socialist.

  4. Tommy Johnson Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 8:31 AM

Jesse is a “fiscal conservative” when the fiscal has to do with issues that affect him.

He had a chance to really strengthen a third party, and he blew it.

  5. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 8:41 AM

And Sheehan’s claims of a career of major accomplishments would work better if he had ONE example to point to where his work made the lives of the people he represented any better.

  6. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 9:10 AM

Oh Leroy, don’t get mad. LOL.

  7. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 9:14 AM

… I’m pretty sure the millions in Saint Paul, whether they like it or not, know that their lives and their city is better thanks to Norm’s leadership.

Norm’s also got an exemplary record working for people and this state in the Senate, whether a dip like you recognizes it or not.

But speaking of achievements that have affected others’ lives, here are a few of Al Frankens:
    - Bilked nearly a million dollars from a children’s charity
    - Denied workers comp. coverage to his employees
    - Humiliated a student at Carleton College
    - Spewed hate on the public airwaves
    - Cheated 18 states of taxes owed them
    - Degraded women with his obsession for telling jokes about drugging and raping them.

Yeah, your candidate has quite the resume.

  8. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 9:16 AM

Oh yeah, I forgot… Franken also:
    - Threw his accountant under the bus
    - Threw his doorman under the bus

Yeah, Al Franken is a “helper.”

  9. Tommy Johnson Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 9:39 AM

Kyle, if normie wasn’t such a wuss, he’d be leading the charge against Franken himself.

But normie IS a wuss, and he’s hiding behind republiCon Ron.

So, let’s look at republiCon Ron’s “record” – republiCon Ron’s “stewardship” of money donated by hard-working Minnesotans to the Republican Party of Minnesota (“RPM”):

As “Treasurer”, republiCon Ron’s “sewership” resulted in a $16,000 fine by the Federal Elections Commission

Way to go, Ron. And, oh, Ron? Make sure you hold Franken to standards you have not and cannot meet yourself.

I could go on here, but I already have elsewhere.

The simple fact is normie is a wuss who is using others to fight his battles for him, so he can claim “I’m not looking backwards; and I’m a uniter not a divider.”

It’s complete BS, but that’s what the electorate has come to expect from the GreedOverPrinciples party.

  10. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 9:47 AM

Oh Tommy, and here I thought this post was about comments directly from Norm’s campaign and NOT the GOP.

Of course, I have an easier time with reality than you do, so we’ll just continue to forgive you for making it up as you go along.

I couldn’t give two shits about Ron Carey. I know you have a hard-on for him, but the rest of us are focused on the candidates.

  11. jay Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 9:54 AM

Norm is a RINO and is trying to run as a moderate. Trying to paint him as a rubber stamp for the President is complete BS.

But what do you expect from the Darn Fornicating Liars party?

  12. Tommy Johnson Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 9:57 AM

Why, Kyle, you nasty old toe-tapper. You’re the base!

  13. el presidente Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 10:01 AM

Kyle Christensen: I am pretty sure that the MILLIONS in Saint Paul …
    ——————————————–
Millions? Where are you writing from?

  14. el presidente Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 10:10 AM

Kyle Christensen: Norm’s got an EXEMPLARY record working for people …
    ———————————————–
    EXEMPLARY record?

It seems you mean EXEMPTING himself out the USA MILITARY SERVICE and letting someone else in his community serve INSTEAD OF HIM.

  15. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 10:13 AM

El P, which branch of the service did Franken and Ceresi serve in?

  16. Swiftee Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 10:26 AM

When Tommy “johnson” Johnson is presented with a clear choice, he chooses Cheeto’s!

    Right, Cheeto boy?

Suuuure. Go ahead, boy. Open a fresh bag…you know you want ‘em.

Ahahahahaaa…nice gut, cheeto boy! You got Angry Al in there somewhere?…hahahahaaaaa

  17. el presidente Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 10:35 AM

Perhaps the same USA MILITARY branch in which

    Tim Pawlenty
    Rush Limbaugh
    Dick Cheney
    Jack Kemp
    Michele Bachmann, served.

Dick Cheney had a series of student deferments and then had “other prioritites” [pregnant wife, then daughter].

Rush Limbaugh had a medical exemption for a cyst on or near his rear end.

Jack Kemp had a medical exemption for bad knees, so he PLAYED PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL INSTEAD.

I don’t think that Norm has an EXEMPLARY RECORD.

  18. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 10:42 AM

El P, I don’t care what you think about Norm’s record. … and by the way, you’re the abject idiot raising questions about Norm’s service record. So it makes sense to wonder what the unique service qualifications are of your candidates. The answer is that they have none.

It’s about time you drop that line of bullshit, because that’s all it is, and adds nothing to the conversation.

Unless, that is, you believe that those without military service are unqualified from making national security decisions. If so, then Obama can drop out of the race right now.

  19. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 10:45 AM

Bottom line is, it’s true: Norm, Franken and Cireci are all equally undistinguished for their military service.

Now lets look at their professional records: Coleman and Cireci have long track records of accomplishment professionally and for the public.

Franken, uniquely, has done nothing for anyone. But that’s who the DFL chose. Sad, but true.

  20. Tommy Johnson Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 10:48 AM

    ***
When Tom “Scrotee” Swift is presented with a clear choice, he chooses full-frontal male nudity!

    Right, Scrotee?

Suuuure. Go ahead, boy. Open a fresh link…you know you like ‘em.

Ahahahahaaa…you’re toe-tappin’ with BOTH feet, Scrotee! You got Larry Craig in there somewhere?…hahahahaaaaa
    ***

  21. Tommy Johnson Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 10:53 AM

Kyle, it’s Coleman’s record in the senate that demonstrates he does NOT deserve a second term.

  22. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 11:08 AM

My favorite part of this whole thread is, when given the chance to suggest Norm Coleman accomplishments in public life, Kyle responds with attacks on Al Franken.

Nothing could better prove my point than his response.

  23. Swiftee Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 11:09 AM

    Say, Cheeto Boy?

It’s 10:48 now, and you’re still,/i> sitting there contemplating male genetalia..you’re wasting time, boy; you got work to do.

What’s going on with your hard-hitting “blo&go” expose? I’m sure that Leslie Stahl is on pins and needles with anticipation at your in depth report!

We know you’ve been really busy with Homesteadgate, but don’t get distracted….the “blo&go” story needs to be told!

Put down the Cheetos, and stop whatever else it is you’re doing (we don’t really want to know, boy) and start pumping out the scandals!

  24. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 11:35 AM

If you say so Tommy. But you’re not convincing me… particularly with that pile of shit candidate the DFL endorsed.

  25. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 11:36 AM

    Hey Leroy,
My favorite part of this whole thread is, when given the chance to suggest Al Franken’s accomplishments in public life, Leroy and Tommy respond with attacks on Norm Coleman and Ron Carey.

  26. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 11:37 AM

    Kyle-

Accuracy never has been your strong point. I called you out, and you blinked.

    Case closed.

  27. Swiftee Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 11:45 AM

    Say, Leroy?

When Norm was mayor of St. Paul, he managed the city without raising property taxes, put together the deal that got the Excel center built which was directly responsible for the revitalization of the 7th St. corridor.

He started the housing 5000 initiative, which Randy Kelly completed. He kept the streets cleaned, the snow plowed and the lights on without once whining about needing more money.

Compare that record with the current crop of liberal incompetants that have taken control…starting with a 23% tax increase over a two year period.

While Norm managed the City of St. Paul over two terms, one of which he ran as a Republican, Al Franken did what?

Wrote pornography; pocketed cash he knew had been filched from a children’s charity; had his tax shelter corporation shut down by the state of California; watched over the mismanagement of his business affairs in 18 other states; avoided being served with dunning notices from the City of NY.

oh, yeah dolt #3….real nice candidate you got there!

    Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa!…belch that, asswipe!

  28. Swiftee Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 11:51 AM

That closed his yap, didn’t it Kyle?

    Hahahahahahaaaaaa!

  29. el presidente Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 1:30 PM

Look Kyle, you wrote about Norm’s EXEMPLARY RECORD.

I pointed out Norm’s RECORD with the SELECTIVE SERVICE OR DRAFT BOARD OF NEW YORK.

I don’t think that his RECORD is exemplary.

You wrote that Norm [candidate Franken, and non-candidate Ciresi] are all equally “undistinguished” for their their military service.

I have no idea if CANDIDATE Franken was required to take a DRAFT physical.

I have no idea if NON-CANDIDATE Ciresi was required to take a DRAFT physical.

However, I do know that current MN Senator Norm Colman FAILED his NEW YORK DRAFT physical, and the person that he ran opposed to for votes, WALTER MONDALE, SERVED TWO YEARS IN THE US ARMY.

  30. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 1:32 PM

el presidente, I don’t care what you think. You’re an f’n idiot.

  31. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 1:35 PM

A good indicator of your legacy is to see how the people vote for you.

When Norm ran for Senate six years ago, how many precincts in St. Paul did he carry?

If people in St. Paul truly credited him with any of the things you listed, one would think he would be able to carry the city easily.

But to fail to carry even ONE precinct in the entire city once you leave the mayor’s office, well, that is rather telling of what people think of Norm after he has been given a chance to lead.

  32. Swiftee Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 1:41 PM

You’ve got a pretty big mouth, Rocket boy.

You make accusations against Coleman for which you have no proof, and then tell us that you’re a RPG goalie and likewise offer no proof.

Then you come to the record of Cheeto boy, who *has been proven* to have lied about his own military service.

What is it with you morons? Is there a hock shop for honor in the feverswamp, or do you all just toss it away with as little regard as John “So there I was” Kerry tosses someone elses medals on the ground?

  33. Swiftee Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 1:51 PM

The majority voters of St. Paul voted Norm into their mayors office *twice*, asswipe. Once after he had switched party’s.

Then they threw a little tantrum because Paul Wellstoned!’s crew made asses of themselves.

Next, they elected a guy who promised to continue Norm’s policies to take Norm’s place…then they threw a little tantrum and elected a complete idiot that has taxed the shit out of them.

    Now they’re whining about *that*.

Adults acting like children…it fits the liberal pattern to a “T”.

Norm has a record of success.

Your candidate has a record of being an ignorant asshole, it’s no mystery why the Democrat party scooped him up.

    Case closed, asswipe.

  34. Tommy Johnson Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 2:42 PM

    You’re a liar, Scrotee.

    And a pervert, too.

Which, of course, makes you the epitome of the widestanced, toe-tappin’ “Family Values” party.

  35. Swiftee Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 2:56 PM

So, are you saying that you cannot, in fact, get a whole “family sized” bag of cheetos into your pie hole at once, cheeto boy?

That’s not what your mom says…and, we’ve seen your gut too (I bet three normal sized adults could camp out in the green tent you’re wearing as a shirt there, cheeto boy).

I’m goin’ with mom on this one.

  36. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 2:58 PM

    Leroy,
I might normally agree with you on examining how your constituents vote for you as an indicator, however, it’s bullshit when considering the 2002 election. Wellstone was popular enough with Democrats, but his death sealed the fact that those no-brain, bleeding heart, lemmings in Saint Paul would opt to give the sympathy vote to a Carter-era fuck-up.

If Wellstone hadn’t hired an unqualified pilot, he probably would have lived… and he probably would NOT have carried 100 percent of Saint Paul.

Either way, that stupid, incompetent crook (I mean Democrat) Al Franken isn’t fit for Senate. But I don’t expend a 2 bit jerk off like you to understand that.

  37. Tommy Johnson Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 3:18 PM

Speaking of incompetent crooks, I wonder when Coleman’s Ethics Hearing will be?

  38. Swiftee Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 3:27 PM

    Say, cheeto boy.

How much would you charge Norm to rent out 400 sqft or so of the tent you wear as a shirt?

  39. Swiftee Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 3:29 PM

Ooo. Just had another look…you’re using every square inch of that baby aren’t you?

    Never mind.

  40. Tommy Johnson Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 3:40 PM

    Scrotee, you’re sick.

    And the base, too.

  41. GR82BinN-MN Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 4:24 PM

Alright boys. Franken can raise money…Can he buy off the voters? With more promoises of “tax money” gifts to those that earn no income? It’s the way of the DEMs. Tax – Spend – Socialism. Give away hard earned tax dollars and make those of us that work pay more than our share. Norm supports the end to the “estate tax” unlike those democrats who have never yet seen a tax that they didn’t like.

  42. Troy Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 4:35 PM

    Tommy Johnson said:

    “You’re a liar”

I see these words under your name all the time, Tommy Johnson, but I rarely (if ever) read exactly what the target of the accusations has lied about.

Is this just “#7″ on the babble track for you, or can you actually back up any of this “liar, liar, pants on fire” stuff you seem so fond of?

  43. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 4:57 PM

    GR*2BinN-MN:

Would you rather vote for the party that taxes and spends, or the party that only spends?

Seems to me, deficit spending is not fiscally conservative in any way, and quite honestly, it is much more disingenuious than the democratic plan to buy what we need with the money we have. Republicans love to talk about tightening the belt, but rather than do it, they spend like drunken sailors, and push the debt off onto others.

I just don’t believe that pretending government is free is a safe way to proceed.

  44. Troy Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 5:50 PM

    Leroy Jenkins said:

“the democratic plan to buy what we need with the money we have”

I find that a bit “disingenuious”, Leroy Jenkins. I must agree that it’s not only Democrat piggies that need to push away from the trough, but characterizing most Democrat representatives as fiscally conservative is a stretch too far.

  45. Tommy Johnson Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 7:36 PM

Troy, don’t even try to claim that today’s GOP Party is “fiscally conservative.”

Then again, go ahead. Nobody believes anything a republiCon says these days, anyway.

  46. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 7:36 PM

“and quite honestly, it is much more disingenuious than the democratic plan to buy what we need with the money we have. ”

What plan is that? Certainly nothing any Democrat has spoken about? Or if they have, they sure as hell haven’t followed through…

Or is that what a “Democrat plan” is? … to say something with no intention of doing it… actually, that sounds about right.

  47. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 8:05 PM

Tommy, is that why the Democrat congress’ approval rate is less than 10 percent?

  48. Troy Says:
    July 11th, 2008 at 10:16 PM

Hi Tommy Johnson! You misread what wrote again, please give it another try.

  49. Tommy Johnson Says:
    July 13th, 2008 at 5:12 PM

    Kyle:

“Facts are stupid things.” Reagan said it, you live it.
