THE BATTLE TO FIND AN IPHONE

    By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 11, 2008

I’m on the hunt for an iPhone today.  My Blackberry died on Wednesday, so I was hoping to have a new phone today.  It appears I might need to wait 5-7 business days.

Regular posting on Minnesota Democrats Exposed will resume later today.

UPDATE: It’s official: my iPhone won’t be in for 5-7 business days.  I will be without a cell phone for 5-7 business days.  I haven’t been without a cell phone for over 10 years.  It should be an interesting 5-7 business days.

UPDATE #2: Thanks to a tip from a dedicated reader of Minnesota Democrats Exposed, I was able to find a location with plenty of new iPhones.

OMG, I saw the news this morning. I mean, whoever does PR for Apple, nice work successfully pitching ANOTHER story of people camping out overnight for these damned things.

Interestingly, these folks are all hopped up to shell out $200 on a freakin’ cell phone and to sign contracts that will, at a minimum cost $840 per year.

That’s $1000 to use the phone for the first year, minimum, and probably a lot more for most.

Yeah, this economy is just terrible. Gimme a break.

I’d laugh if there’s a major political story that breaks in the next 5-7 days.

      Loris: It will happen.

Do they not have Apple stores in/near Eagan?

Seems to me you could wait for the line to die down a bit, stroll into one of the stores, and walk out with a phone later tonight.

Don’t know why I am being so damn helpful, but, well, Merry Christmas!

Get a prepaid cell phone like Page Plus and add more cards if you need it for the next week. Ten to fourteen cents per minute, no contract. Not good for a heavy user but works in a bind.

When you get new I-phone save as backup or give to someone to use as a 9-11 phone.

Although it might not be major, I heard that State Senator Betsy Wergin resigned. She was appointed to a position in the PUC by the Governor. A great conservative lady who is very respected by both side of the aisle. Good luck to her!

I went to upgrade my “old” iPhone software to their new 2.0 version this morning. Horrible. Took an hour to get into the service, 20 minutes on hold, and it still lost all my contacts and setting.

Wergin was appointed to the PUC. That is one seat the minority will retain.

Ooh! It’s my opprutunity to stir up something stupid with out fear of getting sevral dozen phonecalls from you. J/k.
Good luck with your apple thingamobob. Let me know how/if you like it.

Kyle, your reasoning that since people can afford to pay for iPhones, the economy is not as volatile as it is is illogical. (Again, I’m practicing for my LSAT’s and here is a good place to do it, plenty of illogical bullshit running rampant.)
