FRANKEN PRIMARY CHALLENGER IS NO LIGHTWEIGHT; FEMALE DFLER MAY HIGHLIGHT FRANKEN’S SEXIST COMEDY ROUTINES

By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 14, 2008

Priscilla Lord Faris is the first legitimate DFL primary challenger to Al Franken.  Before Team Franken starts thinking she’s a slouch, folks ought to remember her DFL lineage.  Her father, Miles Lord, is a long-time DFL figure in Minnesota.  His connections go back to the early days of the DFL and he previously served as attorney general. Lord Faris’ brother, the late Jim Lord, was a DFL state senator and also serced as state treasurer

With a strong female DFL candidate whose resume focuses on her efforts with M.A.D.D. and women athletics, Franken’s going to have an interesting time debating her with his past history of sexist joke…yes, like the one about drugging and raping a women.

It won’t be so funny for Team Franken when Franken has to sit across from an articulate DFL woman who isn’t afraid of his bullying or celebrity persona.

UPDATE: Doug Grow of MinnPost has new story about Lord Faris’ candidacy. According to Grow’s story,  Priscilla is a leader with M.A.D.D. and has been personally impacted by drunk driving.

For those of you who may not be aware of it, Franken’s made no secret of his dislike of groups like M.A.D.D.  He was once quoted, according to the website, http://www.alcoholfacts.org/ReputationOfMADD.html, as saying, “MADD ‘has turned into the new ‘Women’s Christian Temperance Union.’” I am sure Team Franken will claim that Franken was just being satirical.

I gotta think this will raise the level of debate for everyone involved. Even if Franken still wins it will force him to at least attempt to intelligently articulate his positions and views. That will force Colman to do the same and how he differs from Franken.

    Win-Win.

Miles Lord, while quite a statesman in his time, is pushing 90, and anyone who remembers him has probably already attended their OWN 40th birthday party.

Skip Humphrey proved that daddy’s name isn’t enough to get you elected, and his dad was VP and a Presidential candidate. To believe that the daughter of a man who was AG in the 50′s will get any sort of traction with the name is to believe in aliens and boogey men.

This woman is little more than a speed bump in Al Franken’s march to Washington.

    Leroy Jenkins Said,

“This woman is little more than a speed bump in Al Franken’s march to Washington.”

Must be a requirement for all franken supporterd to see women as objects.

    HYPE shoots…He scores!

Yeah, MADD and women’s athletics. That’s right at the top of Minnesotans’ concerns these days. But we all know that Norm has a high opinion of the (many) women in his life, don’t we?

Sad that it takes someone filing to run against him for the Democrats to finally call Angry Al out on the carpet for his dispicable views.

  7. D Says:

    “…Al Franken’s march to Washington.”

More accurate would be Angry Al’s “march” out of Minnesota with his tail between his legs after being defeated as a carpetbagging loser.

“Franken’s going to have an interesting time debating her”

Really, you think Franken will debate her? I have a feeling they’ll try to lump her in with Dick Franson and ole Savior as a nuisance candidate.

Franken won’t debate Coleman, so why would eh bother with any of the three other dwarves?

    Leroy:

The fact that her name isn’t Franken is enough to do the job. Keep in mind Obama is the Democrat nominee today because he became the candidate who wasn’t Clinton.

Also I didn’t know that Al was walking to Washington. He’s going to need to be doing something for the next six years since he won’t be elected Senator from Minnesota.

Coleman is the one ducking debates, not Franken.

Franken would wipe the floor with Norm, and both candidates know it.

  12. Walter Says:
    July 14th, 2008 at 8:38 PM

    Leroy:

It’s my understanding that Al kept ducking debates during the Democrat party fight. Usually you don’t have any debates between a Republican and a Democrat until after the September primary.

Not to mention Al never seems to go on radio shows where he might be asked hostile questions like the Patriot and Jason Lewis.

Leroy, which debate has been proposed that Coleman has “ducked.”

Please also cite your source for the comment that Al Franken knows how to wipe a floor. I don’t believe it.

  14. Kyle Christensen Says:
    July 14th, 2008 at 10:26 PM

And speaking of ducking debates: Barak Obama challenged John McCain to debate him on foreign policy. John accepted and proposed a format. Barak Obama has been ducking the issue ever since.

Obama is just another liberal bimbo. Unfortunately, he’s the best Democrats can do.

  15. Brix Smith Says:

The fact that Faris has linked to this site is reason enough for me to start doorknocking for Franken.
