COLEMAN CAMPAIGN E-MAIL: “IT’S OFFICIAL. AL FRANKEN HAS LAUNCHED THE FIRST TELEVISION ATTACK AD OF 2008…”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 22, 2008
In an e-mail sent out late yesterday, Coleman’s campaign manager Cullen Sheehan noted that Franken’s campaign aired the first negative TV ad of the 2008 general election campaign.
“It’s official.
Al Franken has launched the first television attack ad of 2008 and is going negative in a big way against Senator Coleman.” Source: Coleman for U.S. Senate e-mail, July 21, 2008
The Star Tribune noted that the same e-mail from Coleman’s campaign labeled Franken “vulgar” and “dishonest.”

When Norm Coleman failed the USA Military Draft Physical do most Minnesotans lean toward:
~1. a DISHONEST skinny Norm, or
~2. an HONEST skinny Norm.

How desperate must liberals be when they try to make being “too skinny” into a negative campaign issue?

The Coleman campaign is desperate. Instead of being able to counter a comparison ad that simply uses Coleman’s record (which Minnesotans should expect him to stand behind), they’ll just label it as “negative” as a distraction.
Minnesotans are smarter than this.

Yeah, Aaron—”Minnesotans are smarter than this.”
That’s why they’ve sent Wellstone and Dayton to Washington to embarrass the state.
That’s why they’ve endorsed Al Franken of all people to challenge Norm Coleman.
(For the record, I’m no Coleman supporter, despite my chosen screen name.)
That’s why at a time of $4 per gallon gas, they vote (twice: SF 2521 & override) to increase taxes of all sorts (sales, gas, license tabs) that hits their [alleged] lower-income and middle-class voting base the hardest.
That’s why they stand idly by and will re-elect James Oberstar after he proposes a 5 cent increase in the Federal gas tax.
The same people that are voting for Obama and Franken are on the same intelligence level as the average Maury Povich audience.
Aaron, you’d like to think that “Minnesotans are smarter than this”—-but if they were, your party of despotism and defeatism wouldn’t dare to run half of the brain dead candidates that you do.
Good grief.
At this point in American culture, elections (and endorsing conventions for that matter) are becoming entirely too important to be left up to voters.
And criminal trials are way too important to be left up to juries.
Nice try.

At what point is the GOP going to realize how small a proportion the gas tax increase has had on the actual increase in gas prices?
A 2, 5, or even 30 cent increase in the gas tax dwarfs the almost $1.50 increase caused by speculation and “market” increases in the price of gas.

Also, Christ, who the hell cares if Norm failed his draft physical? I would have failed it too (eye sight). Why does that make him more or less qualified for the Senate?
That’s even worse than saying Al is unqualified for Senate because he once was a satirist.
July 22nd, 2008 at 10:21 am
Yeah. Since when does using someone’s voting record in the Senate make it an attack ad?
Those Rasmussen numbers must really have Norm Inc. scared, because they are making all sorts of uncharacteristic mistakes in an effort to right the ship.

Okay, I’ll bite. If this qualifies as an attack ad, exactly what IS up for discussion?
The Coleman campaign’s hysteria over one of the most mundane ads I’ve ever seen is proof of how terrified they are to discuss the issues.

I guess Coleman’s most recent bowling ad isn’t a negative ad?

”Minnesotans are smarter than this.”
They don’t have to be smarter; they just have to remember which party ‘No’ Coleman is running with in the present election cycle. He’s almost out of choices. He’ll do anything to get elected.
