MN GOP PRESS RELEASE: “SEN. SENJEM & REP. SEIFERT: FRANKEN DEMOCRATS NEED TO CONDEMN FRANKEN’S VITRIOLIC RECORD”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 22, 2008

St. Paul – Senator David Senjem (Rochester) and Representative Marty Seifert (Marshall) today outlined Franken Democrats who have benefitted from Franken’s largesse and those who have embraced Franken as the leader of their party.

“These Franken Democrats have sent the message that they think writings that degrade women, so-called jokes that use X-rated language, and calling your opponents four-letter words are OK if you want to be our Senator. They have not only refused to condemn Franken’s demeaning comments and offensive writings, but they have welcomed his patronage with open arms,” Rep. Seifert said.  “I am calling on all DFL candidates to donate his contributions to charity and condemn his hateful remarks.”

At least 26 DFL legislative candidates have received contributions from Franken or his PAC since 2006, and he has been endorsed by the leaders in both DFL caucuses, as well as many other DFL legislators.

“With the DFL convention in my hometown, I watched with dismay as the Democrat party that once was led by the happy warrior cheered excitedly for a candidate best described as an angry attack dog.  Franken Democrats are willing to accept this as their standard bearer.  Some have even praised his ‘articulate wit,’ his ‘sense of humor’ and have said his writings represent a ‘thoughtful approach to politics.’  Voters will have a clear choice between candidates who embrace this out-of-touch message and Republicans who will fight for hard-working Minnesotans,” Sen. Senjem said.

The Facts About Franken’s So-Called Midwest Values PAC:

Star Tribune: Franken’s Midwest Values PAC “Has Raised More Than $1.1 Million Since It Was Formed In 2005.” (Kevin Diaz, “The Billion-Dollar Campaign; Leadership PACs Help Politicians Help Selves,” Star Tribune, May 27, 2008)

“Franken’s PAC Has Given Other Candidates And Political Organizations About $381,500…” (Kevin Diaz, “The Billion-Dollar Campaign; Leadership PACs help politicians help selves,” Star Tribune, May 27, 2008)

That’s quite a nice list of people that stand behind a future U.S. Senator even though he’s not a career politician. Sure you didn’t repost a DFL press release?

    What about the issues?

I’m sure Senjem and Seifert’s constituents are way better off after the last five years under Coleman-Bush.

My favorite part was all the media coverage that the press conference and release created.

It appears Ron Carey has cried wolf 100 too many times.
