STAR TRIBUNE REPORTS THAT FRANKEN REFUSES TO DEBATE LORD FARIS

By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 22, 2008

“DFL U.S. Senate candidate Priscilla Lord Faris, who entered the primary race last week, challenged DFL-endorsed candidate Al Franken on Monday to a series of three debates next month.

Franken campaign spokesman Andy Barr said they will decline her invitation, thank you very much. ‘Having debated 17 times en route to winning the DFL endorsement, and with the Farmfest debate just days away, we’re entirely focused on Norm Coleman,’ Barr said.” Source: Star Tribune, July 21, 2008

I think Al has made a mistake here. Does he really think that this will go unnoticed? He should know that the one thing you cannot do is ignore a determined woman. I think he is afraid to be confronted by a female who may challenge him on his anti-female behavior.

I think Franken should have exactly as many debates as Coleman does with Shepard.

Again, stupid. Have to agree with TJ. Why is it a big deal that he won’t debate his primary challenger when Coleman won’t either?

Tommy / Two Putt = NON Factor and Racist PIG

Well, PlymouthDem, it’s that ol’ republiCon Hypocrisy showin’, again.

Remember republiCon Ron, rippin’ Franken over some paperwork problems? That’s republiCon Ron tryin’ to hold a Democrat to standards republiCon Ron hasn’t and can’t meet himself. You know, hypocrisy.

And Michael tryin’ to rip Franken for not debating a nuisance, when you know ol’ Smokescreen won’t debate is own personal nuisance, is the same thing: republiCon Hypocrisy.

But what I find really funny is Dogface, er, ‘scuse me, “Honeydog”, now posting under a new name: “hottip”.

I’m sure the Coleman campaign is willing to agree to debates any of the 16 other candidates running for Senate.

How many DFL debates *already happened*? SEVENTEEN. The endorsement process already completed. She had her opportunity and she didn’t even try. Just because some random astray in the DFL wants to call for a debate and get media attention doesn’t warrant getting it. I think what the Franken campaign is doing is fair.

You can’t run from your past!!

And I have been posting as hottip for a year and only have one posting name. Sorry I am not honey dog and good try to smear someone else to make your Racist self look better.

To all the new posters here Tommy / TWO PUTT / ? He has many other names here and has on several occasions posted racist rants. He doesn’t like people of Middle Eastern dissent.

Go with that, Pat – it makes reality that much easier for you to ignore.

Tommy “Cheeto Boy” Johnson…posting at 2:47 am and 7:52 am.

Say what you will about Porn-O-Rama Franken, he really knows how to pick dedicated butt boys.

Nobody’ll notice the lack of “debates”. Do you think the Star Sickle and Pioneer Puss will harp on it?

Who is Pat your and rogens’ sister

  12. Leroy Jenkins Says:

The Lord had more than a dozen chances to debate, and she skipped out on each and every one of them as she let the endorsement process go on unchallenged.

And anyone who saw her on Almanac this week knows that she is not a person who has cultivated a number of position points and ideas that will differentiate herself from the candidate that has been running for two years, and faced the scrutiny that that entails.

Bottom line. If Lord Farris were a legitimate candidate who had a ton of new ideas, fresh energy and a vision for the state that trumped Al Franken’s, I think you would see some traction for her campaign. But it isn’t there.

Most people in this state, democrat or republican, recognize that Al Franken stands the best chance to defeat Norm Coleman this fall. So while democrats are yawning over Lord Farris, republicans are desperate to find anyone but Al to face in November.

  13. Swiftee Says:

“Most people in this state, democrat or republican, recognize that Al Franken stands the best chance to defeat Norm Coleman this fall.”

Right. And that best chance is an ice cube’s chance in hell, which is why everyone recognizes it’s gonna be a big GOP win.

  14. Steph Says:
    July 22nd, 2008 at 11:06 AM

If Franken continues to have these kinds of troubles with the very liberal, feminist DFL types, how is he ever going to sell himself to mainstream women voters in this state?

Rape jokes, objectification, belittling a very strong woman primary challenger.

    What’s next with this guy?

  15. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    July 22nd, 2008 at 11:40 AM

    Steph-

The DFL Femenist Caucus has endorsed Al Franken.

I don’t know how I can make it any more clear to you that the problems Al faces with women come primarily from republican women who wouldn’t vote for their own gynecologist/spiritual leader/mother wrapped into one candidate if said uber candidate were running as a democrat.

  16. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    July 22nd, 2008 at 11:41 AM

And for the record, Lord Farris is about as stong a candidate as Dick Franson.

Did you see her on Almanac last week? Lets not confuse different with strong.

  17. Swiftee Says:
    July 22nd, 2008 at 2:57 PM

“the problems Al faces with women come primarily from republican women..”

    Right. Republican women.

Like Betty McCollum, Mari Urness Pokornowski and the 18% of the DFL Femist Caucus that voted not to endorse Porn-O-Rama.

  18. DFL Monkey Says:
    July 22nd, 2008 at 3:58 PM

Al would like to argue his point into an Air America microphone where no one will realize he is a complete moron. He can’t debate a real person, that would be far too much to ask of angry Al. He might end up looking like an even larger ass in a real debate.

  19. BigB Says:
    July 22nd, 2008 at 6:55 PM

Bottom line. If Lord Farris were a legitimate candidate who had a ton of new ideas, fresh energy and a vision for the state that trumped Al Franken’s,

Ok, just an aside here…What exactly are Al Franken’s ‘new ideas’ and ‘vision’ for Minnesota other than Raise Taxes, redistribute wealth, ‘sock it to Big Oil’ and George Bush and Dick Cheney should be tried for war crimes??? She’s not going to ‘trump’ Franken on far left, whackbag talking points. That’s how he’s made his living for the last 15 years. Al’s brand of derangement cannot be trumped.

  20. Coleman Exposer Says:
    July 23rd, 2008 at 8:57 AM

Why would anyone listen to Betty McCollum talk about Franken’s treatment of women? Maybe someone should start asking Betty McCollum about her treatment of her husband when she got elected.

  21. WILL LORD FARIS BE INVITED TO FARM FEST? | Minnesota Democrats Exposed Says:
    July 23rd, 2008 at 1:08 PM

[...] Senator Norm Coleman would be appearing together at a candidates’ forum next month at Farm Fest. The Star Tribune also reported that Franken refuses to debate Priscilla Lord Faris.  I know that Franken hasn’t lived in [...]

  22. D J Ostman Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 3:39 PM

Democratic party take notice. I am completely tired of Republicans but I will not vote for Franken! I really want to hear what Priscilla Lord Faris has to say. Are there any Independent cadidates?
