WILL LORD FARIS BE INVITED TO FARM FEST? #2
By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 23, 2008
U.S. Senator Norm Coleman’s campaign manager Cullen Sheehan provided me with a statement about Lord Faris’ participation in the upcoming Farmfest debate:
“We intend to accept debate formats that we believe will add to the discussion of issues, and show the clear differences between all of the candidates for the United States Senate. In that spirit, we intend to hold off on committing to any specific debates until after the September Primary at which time major party candidates will be chosen to run in the November General Election. The one exception to this is an already scheduled Farmfest candidate forum that we are committed to and one in which we have communicated to organizers that we hope they will be inviting all of the major party candidates to participate in the forum.”
From reading their statement, it appears that Coleman would participate in the debate if Lord Faris’ was included. Their statement specifically mentions “…inviting all of the major party candidates to participate in the forum.”
I have e-mails into the campaigns of Barkely, Uldrich, Lord Faris and Franken about the upcoming Farmfest debate. I will update this post, as I receive responses.
UPDATE: I received a very polite and respectful call from Bob Mattson, representing Lord Faris’ campaign. Mattson informed me that Lord Faris’ campaign agreed with the statement from Sheehan that candidates from all of the major party candidates should participate in the forum, but that Lord Faris was told that she could not participate in the Farmfest debate.
Please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed for more information on this developing story.

Does this mean Jack Shepard will also be participating?

I believe he would have to be invited first. Has that happened yet? It is up to the candidate once they are invited to accept and then attend. But first there must be an invitation. I’m betting Al’s people have done everything they can do to prevent that from happening.

Mikey,
Please provide the communication made by Coleman or his campaign in which they say that they hope all of the major party candidates would be invited.
Also, Coleman or his campaign needs to explain what it considers the major parties to be.
I am assuming that we can infer from this so-called communication to the Farmfest organizers that Coleman will not be participating in this event if his expectation that “all of the major party candidates” be invited is not met.

So, what you are saying is, Norm Coleman will be using this as an excuse to skip FarmFest this year?
Interesting strategy. I am quite certain that any farmers who may have supported him in the past will see this as exactly what it is, which is a sign of cowardice from an incumbent who has done nothing for one of the state’s more vital industries.

So, I guess we now know that the organizers of Farm Fest are sexist and demeaning to women since they have told Lord Faris that she could not participate in the event. The question for Norm now is whether he is going to take a stand against a clearly sexist organization or if he is going to support their sexist views and participate in the event.
Norm, are you sexist or not? We are waiting to hear how you weight in on this.
Has Jack Shepard been told that could not participate in the debate?

Stop reading every other word!!
The one exception to this is an already scheduled Farmfest candidate forum that we are committed to…
Stop making things up to satisfy you inflated ego.

Norm should be careful what he wishes for… in his bid for Governor he made a famous quote about how family farms are a thing of the past at FarmFest.
Judging by the PAC contributions he has received from big agri business, I guess we know who’s side he’s on.

I guess that means that Al is on the side of the Hollywood elite then right Brent? Using your logic (weak as it is) that would stand to reason. Just what we need - Hollywood nutcases having another open door to the US Senate.

Everyone here already knows how sexist Al Franken is so there isn’t much doubt that he will go forward with the debate. We will know soon whether Coleman is as sexist as Franken.
Doesn’t matter if the invitation was accepted awhile ago. We just learned Farm Fest is a sexist organization. It would be like justifying accepting an invitation three years ago to an upcoming Senator Craig event. Circumstances change.
What will Coleman do?

[...] a post over at MDE where Michael is trying desperately to get anyone and everyone to help Coleman throw [...]

What a sad sad day for the Coleman campaign.
For the first time in this race, I think, the new Rasmussen numbers (polling done yesterday!) show Coleman’s unfavorable numbers higher than Franken’s, 39-37. Franken’s favorable numbers are now also higher than Coleman’s, 60-57.
With leaners, Franken is up 49-46!
Keep up the good work Mikey! You too, Carey.
I can’t wait for the next bowling commercial.

“Stop reading every other word!! The one exception to this is an already scheduled Farmfest candidate forum that we are committed to… Stop making things up to satisfy you inflated ego.”
Actually, I think the problem originates from Michael and MDE not being able to read. It’s the post that says:
“From reading their statement, it appears that Coleman would participate in the debate if Lord Faris’ was included.”
So, it’s MDE that’s speculating that this statement means he would only participate IF Lord Faris was included. Personally, I think this is just a dumb reading of that statement, or, MDE knows something we don’t… namely that Norm will in fact use this as an excuse to avoid a debate.

Are you all so dense. It clearly states:
“The one exception to this is an already scheduled Farmfest candidate forum that we are committed to”…… The “and” is they think all canidates should be included but it if they are not it will not preclude the Senator from being there.
What is so difficult about this, my 5th grader understood it.

Having a 5th grader read this site is tantamount to child abuse.

Only a moron like you would assume I let her read the whole blog.

Well here is where the bullshit from Michael lies. At the beginning of the statement, it says Coleman will hold off on agreeing to debates until candidates are named by the primary process, the exception being Farmfest. And then, the phrase being major party candidates, is then mentioned again in Michael’s highlighted text to make up a bunch of bullshit.
If we are using the same definition of major party candidates in the second sentence as we are in the third sentence, than it means the candidates that have been named by their party as their nominee after the primary. But, Farmfest comes before that so we make that exception. Nowhere does that mean Lord Faris has to participate. They dont mention her, they dont imply anything about her; you are just making shit up as usual.
