USA TODAY: “GAINS FOR MCCAIN IN LATEST USA TODAY/GALLUP POLL”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 28, 2008
“Republican presidential candidate John McCain moved from being behind by 6 points among ‘likely’ voters a month ago to a 4-point lead over Democrat Barack Obama among that group in the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll. McCain still trails slightly among the broader universe of ‘registered’ voters. By both measures, the race is tight.” Source: USA Today, July 28, 2008

what apparently seems to be distressing to the dems is that obama cannot get above 50%. of course mccain cannot either and generally trails obama in most polls.
frankly these polls do not mean much until late september when most people really start paying attention. that is probably good for obama because if he continues changing his position every other day mccain will win easily since most voters do not want wishy/washy leaders. if people doubt this go back and look at the reagan-mondale polls. majority of voters agreed with mondale’s major positions, but reagan won in a landslide.
many voters, and i am not saying this is good, vote for the most likeable candidate, probably one of the reasons bush won in 2004. the big question will then be is obama likeable, or will he come across as an elitist (which in my opinion he is)? if he comes across as likeable he will win; otherwise, mccain will back into the presidency because he has been consistent and has core values which will trump the doubts about obama’s leadership.

My dad used to have a joke posted in his barber shop. It was a definition of “Stress.” It read something to the line of: “Stress: The confusion created by the minds refusal to let the body choke the living shit out of some asshole who desperately needs it.”
Which leads me to this quote from ansel: “
what apparently seems to be distressing to the dems is that obama cannot get above 50%.
In this case, Democrats are the assholes who desperately need to be choked. But what’s causing the stress is the FACT that their Obamessiah can’t muster a majority, in spite of their ridiculously high level of adulation for that non-accomplished buffoon and the non-stop media mantra about the “unstoppable” momentum behind their candidate.
In fact, the momentum isn’t that great. A lot of folks aren’t that impressed with Obamessiah. And his constant track record of lies, old-school politics and distortion aren’t getting him anywhere.
The more people examine Barak Obama, the more they’re going to wonder what has this man ever accomplished to deserve the acclaim? He’s never accomplished anything. Not one, single legislative accomplishment. And not one example of working across party lines.
His campaign has managed a good image for Obamessiah. But in the end, that’s all he is — image. No substance. None.
What saddens me is that McCain can’t crush that flea.

i was thinking about obamamessiah and i thought of the story the “pied piper”.
i cannot think of a more fitting storyline to describe obamamania.

In thinking about McShame, for some reason I think of my senile great grandfather.
He hasn’t had a good idea in years, either.

McCain may have a whole list of legislative accomplishments Chestnut, but that wont help the fact that Americans are sick of Republican ideology and it’s horrible effects on all of our wellbeings.

I’m amazed that you can combine “Republican ideology” and “McCain” in the same sentence. If the former is your concern, the latter is your solution.
