The problem is Madia being an attorney, was the only pausible arguement for him being qualified to be a Congressmen.

As for Coleman being a carpetbagger, that is ridiculous. He didn’t move into a district and immediately run for public office like Madia. Coleman worked here for quite a while before he ran for office.

I’m starting to sense some buyer’s remorse on the part of you Democrats. You nominated someone who wasn’t ready for the job, and his inexperience is starting to show. Unfortunately you lost a golden opportunity to take over the 3rd district seat this election cylce. You might have a shot at it again in two years if you nominate a decent candidate, but it will be harder because Paulsen will be an incumbent.

Madia is a carpetbagger, but not because he moved into the district from IRAQ, he didn’t. He is a carpetbagger because he moved from Minneapolis to the 3rd District after Ramstad announced his retirement.

Actually, I think I just figured out why Madia kept his parents address on his law license. Last year he probably didn’t know what Congressional seat would open up, so he knew he would be moving in 2008 but he didn’t know where yet. He just decided to use his parents address, and keep all his belonging packed up in his carpetbag, all ready to go for the upcoming election.

The fact of the matter is he was discharged from active duty in July of 2006, and he even paid last year bill that was sent to his parents in June of 2007. So my question for Madia is why didn’t you change your address last year when you renewed your law license? I don’t understand why it would take two years to change your address. Especially since Madia was (and now is again) a lawyer, he should have know about rule 4.

I have a single daughter who lives out of state. She still names our home as her permanent home of record.

Anyone who has spent time in the military understands. Maybe the rest of you should enlist and learn.

Ashwin’s license was suspended after he failed to pay a fee by July 1. He practiced until he left his job and moved to the 3rd district last fall.

To say that he was in Iraq during this period, is utter nonsense.

The better question might be: Why is he still getting such important mail at his PARENT’S HOUSE?

They will accuse him of being a carpetbagger who just moved back here to run for an open congressional seat.

Just re-read all of the comments. I don’t see one place where anyone defended Madia by saying he doesn’t need it. I see people asking IF he needed it since he’s not practicing law. Different kettle of fish. Please read the last few comments – those reported by MPR and the AP – Madia’s mail was misplaced while serving in Iraq. License fee is paid. Penalty is paid. Issue moot.

I know how easy it was to let this slip. When we were a military family and had to declare a permanent home of record, mail got sent there long after we returned to the states. It just happens. And we were married with kids! We did not change our home of record until we actually left the military.

Gee Michael, if you had ever served our country then you would understand things like that and would not make a mountain out of a molehill.

Let’s see….Madia was serving our country in Iraq and didn’t get the renewal notice. Doesn’t have quite that sensational a ring, does it?

So…..on the issue of Iraq. Madia knows where it is. He’s served in the US Marines there. He has a well thought out policy for ending that war. What’s Paulsen’s position on Iraq? Anyone found that? Or….did he misplace it? It’s not on his website.

as a cpa, mn board of accountancy requires that if you let your license lapse you may still call yourself a cpa, but you must put “inactive” after the designation. as an example many cpa’s go into some other type of business and don’t want to keep up their license due to all the b.s. required such as continuing ed. so if madia is not practicing no big deal–if he is practicing he probably has committed a crime.

Caveat….not an attorney. Bean counter who would never pay for a license I didn’t need.

Yeah, if I were a cab driver or one who depended on my car as my sole source of income I’d forget my tabs, too.
