Typical Republicans, twist everything around and attack what we say because you cant stand behind what you say yourselves.

Furthermore, the entire point of Obama making this point is that Americans simply need to be educated on saving energy. Little fixes here and there dont make a huge impact but they certainly help. But like I said, Republicans have to twist that around and turn it into something that it isnt because they cant win on actual substance, especially this year when 6 years of complete Republican rule has devastated our country with another 2 years of blocking progress.

i might agree except that obama did not say it would help; he said it would replace all oil that would be obtained by drilling in the 85% of the acres currently off limits to oil companies. he is now trying to back-off, but then says all experts agree with him–that is absolutely more nonsense. all experts might agree checking your tires would save energy, but no that checking your tires would replace all new drilling.
i say let bho keep talking–he will lose the election; mccain cannot win it, but bho can lose it.

“you cant stand behind what you say yourselves”
Stop hamstringing ourselves by refusing to make use of our own resources (oil, coal, nuclear, wind/solar/fairy dust – I don’t care). You want to be more like enlightened Europe? Ask France how they produce power. Ask the Scandinavians where they get their oil (hint: they *gasp* DRILL OFFSHORE!).
And yes, conserve and use common sense when it comes to things like maintaining your car. Which brings up an interesting point; why are the biggest pieces of shit you see rolling down the freeway – obviously ill-maintained and inevitably foreign made – always the ones with the most Wellstone!!!! bumper stickers?
There you go Andrew. I’ll stand behind that.

“We could save all the oil that they’re talking about getting off drilling if everybody was just inflating their tires and getting regular tune-ups. You’d actually save just as much.â€

thank you bowhuntdude!
not to mention a couple of other issues bho has neglected: only 25% of oil is used for cars; he assumes no one in usa currently has their tires at proper inflation (thank you for the condescension); you still need to drill for natural gas or does he want heating bills to skyrocket which is already going to happen this coming winter.
this may well be the willie horton moment in this race. he just cannot admit he is wrong or he misspoke. it was the same with when he left the church in chicago–was it that he disagree with the pastors? no, it was so that the elderly would not be bothered by the press.
this man makes john kerry look like margaret thatcher. when he should be ahead by 15+ points, he is tied at best with registered voters and somewhat behind with likely voters.
the tire gauge thing actually has gotten me revved up for mccain where before i was going to hold my nose and vote for him. i even sent him $25 to get my own personal tire gauge.

before i head off for some much needed rest, i checked intrade betting site. norm has now moved to 70/30 advantage today. guess they must of heard of the farm fest debate.
incidentally, bho numbers have been trending down, although he is still up 60/40; he was ahead 65/35 a week ago.
