MN GOP & MN COLLEGE REPUBLICANS SUCCESSFULLY “BRACKET” OBAMA’S FUNDRAISING VISIT TO MINNESOTA; DISTRIBUTION OF OBAMA “TIRE GAUGES” DOMINATES NEWS

By Michael B. Brodkorb | August 7, 2008

I’m hearing reports from numerous dedicated readers of Minnesota Democrats Exposed that the MN GOP and the Minnesota College Republicans did an outstanding job of “bracketing” Senator Obama’s visit to Minnesota yesterday.

As noted in this post, the MN GOP distributed Obama “energy plan” tire gauges at their press conference outside Obama’s event.  As seen in the pictures above, the Minnesota College Republicans were on also on hand with huge tire gauges mocking Obama’s solution for solving our growing energy problems.

I’ll update this post with more information on Obama’s visit later this morning.

UPDATE: The Politico has story up about the MN GOP’s press event about Obama’s visit.

Typical Republican gimmicks, I am surprised you weren’t out there in your chicken suit Brodkorb…
Maybe we should have a team that follow around McCain with a gigantic copy of the 10 commandments highlighting McCain’s infidelity…

McCain’s energy plan will do nothing to lower the price of gas for at least seven years (if ever) and will not create energy independence. It’s a plan that benefits the oil interests that have invested heavily in this campaign and his past campaigns throughout the years.

  2. Gobber McGee Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 10:13 AM

That thing looks more like a sex toy, then a tire gauge!

  3. Aaron Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 10:15 AM

Do we need to pull out the full Obama quote about tire pressure again or are we going to continue to spin this into his “energy policy”?

These kids must be really proud of themselves.

  4. PlymouthDem Says:

“”Senator Obama a couple of days ago said that we ought to all inflate our tires, and I don’t disagree with that. The American Automobile Association strongly recommends it”

    - John McCain

“And I’m sorry to tell you that the price of oil — as far as I can tell — is not gonna go down anytime soon until we eliminate our dependency on it.

We can do that as a nation — we can turn out the lights five minutes earlier, we don’t have to drive the extra block.”

    - John McCain

“I agree with the American Automobile Association. We should all inflate our tires.”

    - John McCain

“Yesterday, he suggested we put air in our tires to save on gas. My friends, let’s do that.”

    - John McCain

    Are republicans this stupid?

  5. Tommy Johnson Says:

All those GOPer candidates for Prez, and the only one that was only married once, was the Mormon. Then they give it to a guy that thinks his 2nd wife should be in a topless contest and vie for the title of “Miss Buffalo Chip.”

And since reasonable people can no longer reasonably believe republiCons, they go to cement this fact by trying to claim Obama’s energy policy is a tire guage.

It would be interesting to learn what the GOPer policy is, but the misAdministration says no one can look at what Cheney and The Plunderers discussed. Which is typical, from the party that inflicted these guys on the American Taxpayer.

  6. marked Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 10:33 AM

Look at the picture. Republican protesters with smiles on their faces. They know its a joke, just as Obama’s energy plan is a joke. They are making a serious point, but in a light hearted way.

Compare and contrast to liberal protesters like Code Pink and others. Nasty…Angry… with scows on their faces.

But I guess the libs have every right to be angry. They stand an excellent shot at loosing an election at several levels that they should win by a landslide. If they can’t win this year, they never will.

  7. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 10:38 AM

Obama’s energy plan will do nothing to lower the price of gas ever and will not create energy independence. It’s a plan that benefits the enviro-nazi interests that have invested heavily in this campaign and his past campaigns throughout the years.

  8. Carol W Says:

Might want to check WCCO’s “Good Question” from Tuesday night. It showed if everyone had their tire pressure at the correct rate, the barrels of oil saved per day would equal the amount of oil per day estimated with off shore drilling — and which is easier and less expensive to do?

  9. Lindstrom Larry Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 10:40 AM

I saw a couple of the newscasts at 5 and they showed this stuff — good work by the GOP.

The Obama spokesman was out of his league….had a difficult time making any points.

  10. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 10:41 AM

Yes Aaron, let’s review the FULL Obama quote:

“We could save all the oil that they’re talking about getting off drilling, if everybody was just inflating their tires and getting regular tune-ups.”

    What a fucking joke.

  11. Tommy Johnson Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 10:41 AM

    “…enviro-nazi…”

A new low, which for you is saying a lot.

  12. St. Paul Red Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 10:42 AM

how come we haven’t heard more about Obama’s vote for the Cheney energy bill in 2005?

I read an article the other day that said Obama voted for the Cheney bill with all these “giveaways” that Obama is now criticizing. Only ten senators voted against the Cheney bill and McCain was one of them.

  13. Tommy Johnson Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 10:43 AM

Chstnut said: “What a fucking joke.”

Now, there’s the Chestnut regular readers have come to know; a real “Family Values” guy.

  14. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 10:45 AM

Here’s better analysis of Obama’s ass talking than the lies WCCO based its commentary on:

“Properly inflating your tires can improve gas mileage by 3%. Of course, many people already keep their tires properly inflated, and many more are at least close to being properly inflated. Let’s be generous and assume that one-half of the total possible savings would be realized if we all inflated our tires properly; that’s a net gain of 1.5% fuel efficiency.

Americans drive approximately 2,880 billion miles per year. If we average 24 mpg, we use around 120 billion gallons of gasoline in our vehicles. If, through perfect tire inflation, we improved our collective fuel efficiency by 1.5%, that would be 1.8 billion gallons. A barrel of oil produces around 20 gallons of gasoline, so the total savings available through tire inflation is approximately 90,000,000 barrels of oil annually.

How does this stack up against “all the oil that they’re talking about getting off drilling?”

    ANWR: 10 billion barrels
Outer Continental Shelf: 18 billion barrels (estimated; the actual total is undoubtedly much higher, since exploration has been banned)
    Oil shale: 1 trillion barrels

So, on the above assumptions, it would take only 11,308 years of proper tire inflation to equal “all the oil that they’re talking about getting off drilling.” “

  15. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 10:47 AM

“will do nothing to lower the price of gas for at least seven years (if ever) ”

Question: How many years will it take for the Democrat plan of “doing nothing” lower gas prices?

Will we need gas in 7 years? Or will we use fairy dust for our energy needs?

  16. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 10:50 AM

“Compare and contrast to liberal protesters like Code Pink and others. Nasty…Angry… with scows on their faces.”

… and who throw blood, burn soldiers in effigy, vandalize, etc…

““Compare and contrast to liberal protesters like Code Pink and others. Nasty…Angry… with scows on their faces.”

… and who throw blood, burn soldiers in effigy, vandalize, etc…”

Do I even need to say more than “Rev. Fred Phelps”

  18. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:20 AM

What about Fred Phelps? The guy’s a nut case. He has nothing to do with the GOP or conservative causes. … Versus Code Pink, who get face time with Nancy Pelosi, Diane Fienstein and other Democrat leaders.

  19. Tommy Johnson Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:25 AM

Chestnut – your GreedOverPrinciples party has held most – and sometimes, all – the levers of power in this decade, yet you blame democrats who just took the house a year ago January – only 18 months, for our energy problems.

People are smart enough to figure out that as usual, reasonable people cannot reasonably trust republiCons to tell the truth.

That’s why voters rejected the GreedOverPrinciples party in the 2006 election, and that’s why this November’s election looks to put even more Democratic Party candidates in office.

And that’s a good thing; this decade has proven decisively that republiCons run on a platform that government doesn’t work – then republiCons get elected and prove it.

  20. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:29 AM

What’s funny Tommy, is that I think you actually believe that.

  21. The Left is Nuts Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:31 AM

Fred Phelps is a democrat, and he’s planning on protesting at the GOP Convention.

  22. D Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:32 AM

Congrats, Chestnut. You used logic and facts, and Flounder responses with…NOTHING. Just like Obamessiah’s energy policy. A BIG nothing.

  23. Tommy Johnson Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:35 AM

What’s funny, Chesnut, is foul-mouthed (cheney)s like you, complaining about Franken’s language.

  24. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:37 AM

Let’s see… Democrats who ran Congress in 1974 began blocking the construction of new refineries.

Democrats who ran congress in 1982 banned off shore oil exploration.

Democrats, who comprise the enviro-nazi organizations have prevented development of oil resources in the Alaskan Oil Reserve through frivolous litigation.

Democrats have increased the taxes on energy. Democrats have obstructed the construction of new power plants that provide less expensive energy and use new clean technologies.

Democrats enacted laws forcing refineries to sustain manufacture of over 50 different gasoline formulations, preventing them from achieving any level of scale or cost efficiency in manufacturing.

Democrats closed off the off shore and onshore lands for further development, driving oil companies internationally for our supplies.

… and hey Tommy, it was Nancy Pelosi who said she had a plan to lower energy costs, not me. And it was Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in congress and the senate who for the last 18 months have done not a goddam thing on energy or any other major policy matter.

I hope that witch is having a nice vacation.

  25. PlymouthDem Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:41 AM

“Democrats are all to play for lack of drilling”

Except, you forgot, George H.W. Bush signed the executive order banning off-shore drilling and a number of REPUBLICAN governors will block it now regardless of what Congress and/or the President do.

Democrats, Bush, and the republicans were right. A giant oil slick isn’t worth nominal oil from drilling. Stop F-ing around in the middle east and you’ll have sufficient cheap oil to get you to an alternative energy plan.

  26. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:41 AM

The Democrat plan on energy costs is three-fold:

    1) Do nothing to increase supply
    2) Do nothing to increase capacity
    3) Raise taxes

In 1995, Bill Clinton vetoed legislation to allow exploration in ANWR. Apparently, in 1995 they didn’t think we’d need oil in 2008.

Democrats still haven’t learned the lesson. They seem to think we’re not going to need oil in 2012.

  27. PlymouthDem Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:43 AM

“Fred Phelps? The guy’s a nut case. He has nothing to do with the GOP or conservative causes”

How is an anti-gay agenda not aligned with the party that continues to put gay marriage bans on the dockets around the country?

  28. Hauser Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:43 AM

John McCain should continue to burn thru his campaign money with stupid props. Excellent!
We all know it is McSame who has the same energy plan, that continues Bush’s energy policies gives the big oil companies their record profits.
We can see thru these Republican talking points. The American people want change and they know they will not get it with John McCain.

  29. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:44 AM

“George H.W. Bush signed the executive order banning off-shore drilling and a number of REPUBLICAN governors will block it now regardless of what Congress and/or the President do.”

GHWB’s executive order was meaningless. It followed the ban enacted by Democrats in the 1980s.

GHWB’s executive order has been rescinded.

Congressional Democrats ban remains in place.

Most of the Republican governors are already working within their states to allow exploration if the Democrats lift their congressional ban.

Moreover, those governors have no authority over the outer-continental shelf. But Democrats in Congress can act today… but they’re on vacation.

  30. PlymouthDem Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:45 AM

“n 1995, Bill Clinton vetoed legislation to allow exploration in ANWR”

As he should have. What a shock that he would block legislation that would have given hardly any oil and did so 5 years after Prince William Sound was permanently destroyed by a massive oil slick.

  31. Jeff Rosenberg Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:46 AM

The funny thing is, Obama’s little aside about improving tire pressure will have a greater impact on gas prices than the Republicans’ whole energy plan.

The Bush Administration’s own forecasts say that drilling in ANWR and offshore will lower oil prices by $1 per barrel by 2030!

Here’s an excerpt from the Energy Information Administration’s study of ANWR:
“With respect to the world oil price impact, projected ANWR oil production constitutes between 0.4 and 1.2 percent of total world oil consumption in 2030, based on the low and high resource cases, respectively. Consequently, ANWR oil production is not projected to have a large impact on world oil prices.”

  32. Tommy Johnson Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:46 AM

Chestnut, you really are a gullible GOPer.

Florida has had mostly GOPer Governors (Walkin’ Lawton comes to mind as the exception) since the Arab Oil Embargo, and Florida is decidedly AGAINST drilling off the FLORIDA coast. South Carolina coast? Florida is all for it. Just as South Carolina is agains drilling off it’s coast, but off Florida is fine with them.

It’s a NIMBY issue, but bootlickers like you swallow the big one, because of “truthiness.”

You’re really rather pathetic, Chestnut. It’s a good thing your party is destined for Permanent Minority Status.

  33. Johnny Walker Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:47 AM

“Obama’s energy plan will do nothing to lower the price of gas ever and will not create energy independence. It’s a plan that benefits the enviro-nazi interests that have invested heavily in this campaign and his past campaigns throughout the years.”

So since part of Obama’s plan is an investment in wind, by your logic everyone who supports or invests in the wind business is an “enviro-nazi”. So apparently Governor Pawlenty is an “enviro-nazi” now? Republican legislators who voted for wind tax breaks and development are “enviro nazis”?

Yet another waste of space by Chestnut

  34. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:47 AM

“How is an anti-gay agenda not aligned with the party that continues to put gay marriage bans on the dockets around the country?”

About the same way enviro terrorists who burn car dealerships and who put spikes in trees to kill loggers are aligned with the party that legislates more pollution controls.

I wish those Democrats would end their terrorist tactics.

  35. Molanda Leagins Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:50 AM

Show me someone who has been arrested burning car dealerships or putting spikes in trees that holds a party position in the Democratic party.

  36. The Left is Nuts Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:51 AM

PlymouthDem, Phelps wouldn’t have attended Gore’s inaugural ball if he was a Republican. Phelps has run as a democrat for some political offices in Kansas.

Now that aside, Phelps doesn’t much like today’s Democrats either.

Face it, this guy is just a nut case.

  37. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:51 AM

    Tommy,
If Al Franken can suddenly be against increasing gas taxes in light of $4 gasoline, why can’t those states be more agreeable to extracting the resources they have in light of $120 per barrel oil?

And who cares. The states only have control of waters 1 or 2 miles from the coast. The rest is Federal waters.

Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, Tommy. LOL!

  38. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:52 AM

“Show me someone who has been arrested burning car dealerships or putting spikes in trees that holds a party position in the Democratic party.”

Show me that Fred Phelps has a party position in the GOP.

If you can’t follow along, then go take a nap.

  39. Bill O'no Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:56 AM

I think I saw Chestnut the other day driving on 94… he was driving a ’71 Monte Carlo and giving every car he saw the bird. He had a bumper sticker that said “Pump more gas or kiss my ass”

    He’s quite a classy guy.

  40. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:58 AM

Hey Bill, was that you in the VW sporting the Wellstone bumper sticker?

    You know he’s dead, right?

  41. Molanda Leagins Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:59 AM

I can follow along just find Chestnut, I didn’t mention Fred Phelps or make any claim in regards to him.

You made a statement and I challenged you to prove it, something you apparently can’t do.

  42. Tommy Johnson Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 11:59 AM

“The states only have control of…a whole buncha apparatus that helps decide who is elected to represent the state, W.D.C.

Damn, you got a big case of “stupid” goin’ on today, Chestnut.

Not that today is any different than any other day…..

  43. Jeff Rosenberg Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:00 PM

Chestnut, you wrote: “why can’t those states be more agreeable to extracting the resources they have in light of $120 per barrel oil?”

Because those states won’t reap the profits from $120 per barrel oil — the oil companies will. And the money from extra drilling will go right into their pockets; we’ll only save $1 per barrel by 2030.

  44. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:00 PM

    Monanda,
No, you can’t follow along just fine. If you could, you’d realize that my comment was a sarcastic response to an earlier commenter.

Now go take a nap, or take your meds… or whatever.

  45. Bill O'no Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:04 PM

No, unfortunately it was Rudy Boschwitz who drove his shitty VW bus across the state. Come to think of it that was yet another failed gimmick of the Republican Party.

  46. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:04 PM

Yeah Jeff, you’re right. The states don’t get any royalties from the extraction of oil in their states. Alaska just hands out those $5,000 oil royalty payments to every one of its citizens as part of the grand facade. … and Florida and California aren’t already doing analysis of how billions in oil royalties will improve their state budgets.

Yeah, they get nothing from allowing more drilling. You’re right.

You are one stupid m.f., Jeff.

  47. Tommy Johnson Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:05 PM

That’s “m.(c).”, Chestnut – and you sure are.

  48. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:06 PM

I like how the first president to suggest the tire pressure method of saving oil was George HW Bush, and how a number of scientists have chimed in to say that doing this will save as much oil as we would get from off shore drilling.

I know the tire gauge industry probably doesn’t donate nearly as much to the republicans as the oil industry does, but the instant and insane response from republicans really proves who they truly represent.

  49. Jeff Rosenberg Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:07 PM

State royalties will be peanuts compared to ExxonMcCain’s–I mean ExxonMobil’s profits.

Personally, I’d rather have US actually get something out of the energy plan–not Exxon, and not the government. You know, like lower gas prices?

  50. Molanda Leagins Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:09 PM

No, what I realized is that you talk a lot of shit, but can’t back up any of it. If you are right, it should be very easy to prove your point.

  51. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:10 PM

ExxonMobile’s profits are peanuts compared to the government’s taxes on their product.

  52. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:12 PM

    Monanda,
So what you’re saying is that you lack the intellectual capacity to understand the conversation. O.k.

Here’s a recommendation for you: Go put your car in the garage. Close the garage door. Get in the car and start the engine. Take a nap.

Your family will appreciate it. My guess is they have better things to talk about at the dinner table than explaining everything they said to you.

  53. Molanda Leagins Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:27 PM

Thank you for admiting you can’t prove your own rant Chestnut.

I love your debate style of asking someone to kill themselves, because you can’t answer a question.

  54. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:32 PM

Also, Jeff… that’s a cute bit of research you stole from Time magazine and then passed off as your own, but there’s a big problem (other than your plagiarism).

The problem is that the assumptions upon which the EIA report is based were all wrong.

It’s bad enough you stole your research and pawned it off as original, but you were too f’n lazy to look into the actual report.

You’re parents must wish they’d have abandon you at a gas station (irony!) when you were young.

    ——————————-
    Footnote (Source Powerline):
The EIA, writing in early 2007, assumed that oil prices would decline from their 2006 peak; that in 2008, the price of crude oil would be around $60 a barrel; that it would continue to decline until around 2013 to a low of about $50 a barrel; and that the price would then gradually increase to a little under $60 a barrel by 2030. Those were the assumptions on which EIA concluded that it would not be economically profitable to get most OCS oil out of the ground.

… that isn’t what happened. The EIA was wrong. Currently crude oil is at around $120 per barrel, not $60. At the elevated prices we are now experiencing and are expected to experience in the future, vastly greater quantities of OCS oil (or ANWR oil, or shale oil) can profitably be exploited, and those resources can make a vastly greater contribution to our economic well-being.

In other words Jeff… the savings are more than $1 per barrel, you retard.

  55. Tom Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:33 PM

Why do you keep sending the ugly Republicans to these things?

  56. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:33 PM

    Molanda,
I see you still haven’t bothered to read the conversation and understand it for yourself.

Now please, go park the car in the garage.

  57. Molanda Leagins Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:36 PM

    Chestnut,

I see you still you can’t prove your statement. Thank you again for your apology.

  58. St. Paul Red Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:37 PM

Why did Obama vote for Cheney’s energy bill?

No one can seem to answer this for me.

McCain voted ‘nay’ and Obama voter ‘aye’ — what gives?

  59. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:39 PM

Molanda you illustrate that liberalism is the new mad cow disease.

  60. Red Gibrali Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:40 PM

Nice to see the kids found time to protest, inbetween their rounds of golf.

  61. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:46 PM

In fact, Molanda, if you had an ounce of sense, you would realize that I never said that anyone who holds a position in the Democrat party has ever been arrested for burning car dealerships or putting spikes in trees to kill loggers.

Why would I say such a thing? It’s probably false and certainly unprovable at this point in time.

And since I never said that that had ever happened, it’s beyond stupid to ask me to support such a finding with sources.

However, if you have some information on the matter, please bring it forward. I’m sure Tommy, Leroy and the voices in their heads would love to hear it.

In the meantime, please get on with parking the car in the garage. I’m trying to do my part for the cause of world peace. And helping idiots like you find a restful end will go a long way.

So Chestnut, when somebody asks you to prove something you have said all you have in response is to tell them to kill themselves and that they have a disease?

I will even let you quote your crappy Powerline source if you want.

  63. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 12:56 PM

    Molanda,
When someone asks you to prove something you didn’t say, do you go about the work of doing it?

Asking you to off yourself is pretty humane, come to think of it.

    Chestnut,

The problem is you said it and then admitted you can’t prove it. Now you are denying it.

Nice spin machine you got there.

  66. Chestnut Says:
    August 7th, 2008 at 1:58 PM

    Molanda,
Just because you said I said something, doesn’t mean that I did. The record is pretty easy to find. Read the thread. I said no such thing as you accuse me of saying.

And I sure as hell never admitted that I did.

You may not like my tactic of instructing an idiot like you to off themselves, but it’s better than your debate style of lying and asking others to prove your lie.

  67. Chestnut Says:

On a side note Molanda, you really should stop blaming others for your own stupidity and laziness. It’s not going to get you very far in life.

    Molanda,
Chris-I mean- Chestnuts is a liar. He is also delusional. His objective is to through the most foul-mouthed accusations he can think off on the wall here and then box everyone through them.
He’s grounded in nothing but, partisan bickering and couldn’t offer a real solution if Rove asked him for one.

Not worth the time, except to entertain yourself by watching him explode. (Call him ChinNuts, he really likes that.)

Shut up. Nobody told you to take all of the fat ones.
You must be new around here because any picture Mikey puts with any libs present leads to a long line of attacks. This is no place for respectful exchange, go to MN Publius for that.

I could go through the shit you guys have pulled with Obama, the Clintons over 16 years, Rush Limbaugh years of parodies on different democratics appearances and any number of posts on here any day. I won’t because I don’t need to show equivalence for justification. They’re fat. Live with it (which I suspect you do).

Molanda, try reading #27 very slowly and thoroughly. Then when you’ve taken a break, read #34 very slowly and thoroughly. If need be -and most likely will be- please re-read. I think that will help you comprehend that PlymouthDem first tried to link Rev. Phelps to the GOP and Chestnut said that he is linked to the GOP about as much as enviro-terrorists are linked to the Democrats; i.e. they are not.

Since you jumped into wild accusations without correctly reading the previous posts; and continued your accusations in spite of Chestnut’s request for you to read the damn thread, you now have the honor of being the stupidest interweb being I have ever encountered. Congratulations!

Jeff- It`s funny that when you talk about “record Exxon profits” you never talk about record Exxon tax bills, too. They made 11.68 billion in the second quarter, but paid 32 billion in taxes. In other words, for every $1 that Exxon earned, the government raked in $3. And on top of that, “Big Oil”, is of course literally owned by tens of millions of Americans (thru stock, pension plans, mutual funds, ect.) who pay additional personal taxes on capital gains and dividends on top of the 32 billion in corporate taxes. The more they make, the more the shareholders make, and then the more the government makes. Isn`t that what you guys want, more government money? Of course I`m sure you just forgot to mention these pesky facts.

JL, you’re missing the point (on purpose I suppose, I dont know why anyone would purposely be an idiot though). Exxon makes record profits while we all get fucked. Congrats, thats the free market for ya!
