BLOGOSPHERE MOCKS TEAM FRANKEN’S ONE PERSON CAMPAIGN EVENT

By Michael B. Brodkorb | August 9, 2008

Team Franken’s one-person campaign event in St. Cloud is being mocked by numerous blogs tonight. Senator Schumer and staff at the DSCC have to be embarrassed at the political operation at Team Franken.

The east-coast transplants and Washington D.C. staffers who have parachuted into Minnesota to try and save Franken’s “foundering” campaign haven’t come close to fixing the problems.

To help repair the public relations damage from this embarrassing situation, look for Team Franken and their allies to release staged pictures (“hey everybody, let’s go in this smaller room”) and videos from “packed” campaign events. It won’t help – Team Franken is the butt of jokes once again.

I can imagine a packed campaign rally from within a phone booth.

This has to be the worst attendance embarrassment since now convicted Symbionese Liberation Army terrorist Kathleen Ann Soliah did her “appearances”. The first was the February 2000 “Ungagged one” where Weather Underground Terrorist Bernadine Dohrn and now Rep Keith Ellison spoke. http://presslord.com/speech.htm

An estimated 50 paid attendees despite a lot of advanced local media publicity.

Next there was the Soliah Cookbook unveiling at the Minneapolis Mayday Cafe. Despite a lot of advanced publicity only ten true members of the “public” attended. A cookbook signing was later held at the Starry Plow bar in Berkeley, CA. It drew three people and a PR wannabee.

Kathleen Ann SoliahSara Jane Olson eventually plead guilty to conspiring to blow up police vehicles and later to a bank robbery where a mother for four, Myrna Opsahl was murdered depositing the church collections. Here is an illustration from the Soliah/Olson cookbook. http://ocrscans.homestead.com/cbmoney.html

got anything original Michael, you’ve use that line in probably over 20 posts now in the last two weeks.

    Yoni,

If Michael uses the line another 250 times, he might be approaching Flounder or Leroy’s numbers. They say the same thing over and over again hoping someone might believe the lies.

The “one person isn’t important” path isn’t one anti-Franken forces want to go down.

the other question i would have is what kind of publicity did he put out? were their radio announcemnents, phone bank calls, newspaper notices?

maybe these east coasters aren’t as competent as schummer thinks they are.

This is pretty stupid. It’s August, most people don’t give a rat’s a** about political events. How many people show up to one event or another is irrelevant.

If we are to be judging elections and campaigns on how many people show up to their campaign events John McCain is going to lose by 90% of the vote.

I wonder what Al Franken is going to do after his loss this November. Seems that his marketability will take a serious hit.

I sure wish people would stop referring to Franken as a transplant. He was born and raised in the Twin Cities.

Norm Coleman, on the other hand, WAS raised on the East Coast. Talk about a TRANSPLANT!

You know ridicule has been remarkably effective tactics for Republicans going back to the Dukakis in a tank days. But it has to be used with care. In this case, Republicans are sneering at Al Franken and possibly the voter for campaigning before one voter, with one vote. Doen’t Norm and his proxies think one voter matters? I certainly do.

You see the same thing with McCain. He is going around the country mocking Obama for talking about tire pressure. Let’s bear in mind that John McCain is a vastly wealthy man who routinely carries in excess of a hundred thousand dollars in credit. In short, he isn’t someone personally concerned with saving a money on gas. But many of the rest of us are. Does it make sense for McCain to use an instance of mockery to remind us how remote his wealthy lifestyle is from that of most Americans?

Ridicule has been standard for all of American politics going back to Boss Tweed in NYC right after the Civil War. More recently Gerald Ford was “clumsy” and Dan Quail used an alternative spelling “potatoe”.

I think you can tell who is a transplant by where they have been paying taxes for the last twenty years (Ok, I realize this is a trick question when applied to Franken).

Porn-O-Rama is exceeding every expectation I’ve ever had for a thoroughly enjoyable campaign season.

He has provided a spectacle of buffoonery that I could have only dreamed….and you just know that the best humiliation is yet to come!

Thank you Democrats, for providing such an entertaining spectacle!

If I were Franken, I would make a commercial out of the one voter rally. I would show him make the same stemwinder speech he makes to large audience, I would show the one voter cheering loudly. I would contrast this with Norm Coleman’s creepy Saturday night fund raisers where no outsiders are allowed, and where Norm auctions off what few pieces remain of his soul.
