ABF: ANYBODY BUT FRANKEN; FRANKEN SUPPORTED BY LESS THAN 75% OF MINNESOTA DEMOCRATS IN NEW POLL
By Michael B. Brodkorb | August 17, 2008
Team Franken will have some furious spinning to do tonight after the new Survey USA/KSTP poll was released. In a three-way race, Coleman still holds a statistically significant lead over Franken, while Franken still can’t break 40% of the vote.
Furthermore, Priscilla Lord Faris, who been in the race for just a few weeks and has spent around $100,000, polled at nearly 30% of the vote against Coleman. Franken, who has spent millions and has been in the race for nearly two years – can’t even break 40% or gain the support of even 75% of the Minnesota Democrats.
The fact that Coleman has nearly a 20-point edge over Franken with independents is just devastating. Also, the change in Franken’s poll number since Ventura left the race is very interesting.
In last month’s Survey USA/KSTP poll, Ventura had 26% of the vote – Franken had 27%. This new poll shows Franken at 39% of the vote, while there is 11% for “other” (basically, the stand-in for the Ventura Candidate). The 12 points that Franken picked up were likely ticked-off Democrats that didn’t want to support him in the first place.
This means that Ventura was stealing significant votes from Franken and that even with those Democrats now returning to the DFL fold, Franken STILL can’t get 75% of the vote of the Minnesota Democrats.
It’s possible that Franken may lose additional support among these Democrats (who jumped over from Ventura) once the Independence Party primary election is over and there is an official IP candidate.
These are sad and desperate times for Team Franken and I suspect the dirt, the mud and the slime thrown by them is going to increase.

Michael,
talk about spin, way to spin an article with the headline: “Coleman’s lead on Franken shrinking”
into whatever you call this most recent blog post of yours.
keep it up, you may spin me to the right!

[...] related news, I laughed and laughed and laughed at a late-night post on Minnesota Democrats Exposed. Republican shill/press-release-poster Michael Brodkorb, spinning like crazy, wrote: Team Franken [...]

Coleman’s lead on Franken shrinking
Republican Norm Coleman still leads Al Franken in the U.S. Senate race, but his lead is shrinking.
That’s the headline from the 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS exclusive “SurveyUSA” poll Sunday.
And you got the cajones to state, and again I quote:
“Franken will have some furious spinning to do…”
ROFLMAO!!!!
Michael, you’re the champ!!!

Gotta love Brodkorb/Carey/Craig for their desperate efforts to spin here.
Let’s see…In less than a month, Coleman’s lead drops from 13 points to 7. This is after Lord Faris entered the race and Coleman has been rebroadcasting her commercial as much as he can.
And, yet again Coleman can’t break 50% of the vote despite being a sitting U.S. Senator.
I think Lord Faris’ numbers speak more to the failings of Coleman than anything. She’s been in the race a short time and is already polling at over 25 percent. Good lord. A sitting U.S. Senator can’t even break 50% over a woman who just entered the race!!
These are sad and desperate times for Team Coleman and I suspect the dirt, the mud and the slime thrown by them is going to increase.

Lets see if Franken can’t get 40% how does he win? The lead shrunk because because Coleman’s numbers went down (wow negative and false advertising works apparently). Look I’ll take 45% Coleman 40% Franken and 15% Barkley for the general.

Love these liberal clowns drunk on Franken Kool-aid. Nothing like trying to spin less than 40% into a good thing.
August 18th, 2008 at 8:35 am
Love them republiCon bootlickers drunk on Smokescreen’s kool-aid. Nothing like trying to spin “Coleman’s Lead Shrinking” into “Team Franken will have some furious spinning to do”
But, hey – Uncle Ronnie said “Facts are stupid things”, and today’s republiCons are doin’ their damndest to prove it.

Does anyone ask Al whether he ever voted in MN? Or whether he ever paid income taxes in MN. Or wether he ever really ever lived in MN? Or whether Frannie ever really spent any time in MN?
I think he is a fraud and just commutes from NYC to MN and is trying to fake us all out.

Love them republiCon bootlickers drunk on Smokescreen’s kool-aid.
The real “bootlickers” are people like Tommy who try to spin less than 40% into a negative for the guy who’s still kicking their guys butt. No amount of idiot namecalling changes the fact that Angry Al’s act can’t get him past 40% of the vote in a state full of DFL’ers. Even most of them know he’s a losing porn writer tax cheat.
August 18th, 2008 at 9:31 am
Well, kids…I’m an independent and I wouldn’t vote for either of the Brooklyn Boy carpetbaggers. How the DFLers ever got the idea that Franken was qualified to be a Senator is beyond me. As for Norm, he’d switch parties in a minute if he thought it would benefit him. You can have ‘em both.
August 18th, 2008 at 9:42 am
So, Norm is sliding backwards, heading into the state fair, where his greasy New York shtick does not sell, and as such, he spends as little time as possible there.
Al Franken, on the other hands, is climbing in the polls, and is headed to an event where he is certain to be worshiped by throngs of celebrity seekers and others who came for the novelty and stay for the message.
I’ve been down on Al, but when even KSTP can’t give Norm any positive news, well, that is a sign that good things are to come for this state as Norm Coleman is set for regime change.

“Al Franken, on the other hands, is climbing in the polls, and is headed to an event where he is certain to be worshiped by throngs of celebrity seekers and others who came for the novelty and stay for the message.”
I bet Al Franken’s wet dreams aren’t even this filled with fantasy.
LOL.
August 18th, 2008 at 11:13 am
On the otherhand:
So, Al Franken is consistently far behind in the polls and sliding backwards in key demographics. Heading into the state fair, where his greasy New York shtick does not sell, and as such, he spends as little time as possible there.
Norm Coleman, on the other hand, is holds a comfortable lead in the polls, and is headed to an event where he is certain to be greeted by Minnesotans satisfied to have a moderate voice who supports common sense solutions to the nation’s problems representing them, and by millions who reject Al Franken’s hate-mongering regardless of what decade in which he was last considered “funny.”
August 18th, 2008 at 11:36 am
When a historically right tilting poll like KSTP has Franken cutting his deficit in half over the course of a single month, it is hard not to stand up and take notice.
It’s o.k. to be afraid, Chestnut. I would be too, if I saw my candidate’s political career swirling down the drain.
Norm’s had a good run, but once the polls even up, this race is going to see a huge influx of democratic support, and in a blink of an eye, Norm Coleman will be telling his grandkids about the time he almost beat Al Franken in the senate race of ought eight.
August 18th, 2008 at 11:38 am
Leroy,
Franken’s cut nothing. He still garners the same high 30s support he always has. That said, it’s disconcerting to see Coleman’s numbers slip.
Nice to see that nobody is gathering to support Franken though.
It’ll probably be fairly close in November, but Franken will be heading back to full time occupation of his Manhattan apartment. … I wonder if they have a new doorman by now.
August 18th, 2008 at 11:47 am
Norm might just be the luckiest politician MN has ever seen.
DFL shot themselves in the foot with the Wellstone funeral service 6 years ago and now they shoot themselves in the foot again with Franken.
August 18th, 2008 at 11:56 am
Which candidate would you rather have in a hypothetical situation?
1) A candidate who is losing ground.
2) A candidate who is holding their ground.
Lets face it. Norm has peaked. It is all downhill for him now, and not in a good way.
August 18th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
Which team would you bet on Leroy? The one up by 20 points in the last quarter or the one down by 20?
August 18th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
jay, last quarter’s score doesn’t count, when there’s a fresh score on the board.
And the title of the “fresh score”, in the link Michael provides, is Coleman’s Lead Shrinking.
Coleman, a noted RINO, has locked up about as many GOPer votes as he likely will – it’s not as if he’s universally liked by many conservatives, as has been discussed.
Franken, OTOH, has no where to go but up in garnering DFL votes.
And if you think Coleman’s rent and utilities scandal is costing him now, wait until the Abramoff-Coleman linkage is hammered.
August 18th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
hammer away tommy. With all of your verbal might. If your intellect is representative of Frankin supporters Angry Al is in serious trouble.
August 18th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
jay, your lack of intellect indicates ol’ Smokescreen is in serious trouble.
But here’s the best thing, about the senate race between Franken and ol’ Smokescreen: no matter who wins, a democrat will be elected.
That’s gotta drive you bootlickers nuts (well, “nuttier”): Norm’s a RINO and you know it.
August 18th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
“And if you think Coleman’s rent and utilities scandal is costing him now, wait until the Abramoff-Coleman linkage is hammered.”
LMAO!!! Tommy’s still peddling that whopper? Neither of these lies will do anything for Franken.
Go back to your game of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, Tommy!

Say, ChinNuts? It’s 2008, and your party is headed for Permanent Minority Status, so you can come out now, and tell everyone about your favorite movie….
August 18th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Tommy, I agree Norm is a RINO. Franken though is a disgrace.
August 18th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Assuming other stays at 11 that 7 point lead is a lot bigger then it looks. Bigger still when you consider that you can disallow a guy who at best does not know how to pay taxes (and thus is very clearly not qualified to vote on detailed legislation) a vote without awarding your vote to Coleman. Franken needs to see Dean Barkley at 4-6% because i can gurentee in the last two weeks at least 5% of Franken supporters will be tempted to leave him because of his tax situation.
August 18th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
“LMAO!!! Tommy’s still peddling that whopper? ”
Cheeto boy doesn’t peddle whoppers, he stuffs ‘em into that fat, greasy gob that sits atop the pile of goo he calls a body.
Exxxtra cheese, right Cheeto boy?
Hhahahahahahahahaha!
August 18th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
When Cheeto boy tells you he can “press 250″, he’s talking about how many extra value meals he can press into his pie hole at once!
Hahahahahaaa!
August 18th, 2008 at 6:17 pm
When Scrotee says he can “press 250″, that’s how many links to full-frontal male nudity Scrotee can open in one minute.
Scrotee’s got them short-cuts down!!!@
It’s a sick world, and Scrotee’s a happy guy.
August 18th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Say Cheeto boy?
Are you going to be making appearances with Porn-O-Rama at the fair? I hope so, ’cause that would make me real happy!!
I’ll ask your mom if it’s OK for you to come out and play, as soon as the boys are through with her.
HAhahahahaha!
August 18th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
not to worry–the real dirt has not yet been released about franken. wait until after he wins the nomination, then the “meat and potatoes” will show what an idiot franken is. norm will just need to recycle lord faris commericals/comments and put his name on them. no need to spend any money developing new commercials.
does anyone really think franken can out-debate norm?
rasmussen also shows norm has an approval rating of 53% which generally means he would receive that number of votes.
i will say in the end i expect norm to win by 4-6 points which is essentially a blow-out for a gop candidate in mn.
