MN GOP PRESS RELEASE: “FRANKEN’S ANGRY RHETORIC WOULD HURT MINNESOTA VETERANS”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | August 19, 2008

St. Paul – Republican Party of Minnesota Chair Ron Carey today released the following statement regarding Al Franken’s inability to work effectively on the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs.  Al Franken earlier said he would like to work on the Veterans Affairs committee.

“Al Franken is incapable of working with those with whom he disagrees.  Minnesotans will not undermine their voice in the Senate with a man who simply attacks his political opponents personally when he disagrees with them.  One area where Franken’s inability to control himself will prove a liability is on issues related to Veterans.  Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), a senior Republican on the committee and a frequent target of Franken’s personal attacks, is just another example of someone Franken has attacked throughout his 30 year career.  He’s called her a ‘hypocrite,’ ‘shameless shill,’ and ‘a profile in cowardice, shamelessness, hackery.’ Franken’s past rhetoric puts his ability to get things done in jeopardy and leaves Minnesota veterans hanging out to dry.”

Franken Today:  “Paul Wellstone Served On The Committee Of Veterans Affairs In The Senate And I Want To Do The Same.” (Al Franken, Press Conference, Hopkins, August 19, 2008)

Franken Flashback:

Franken: “What a hypocrite. You know what? They used to be better at their hypocrisy. [Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison] should be ashamed of herself.”   (Al Franken, “The Al Franken Shows,” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02fraTwEcf8)

Franken: “Kay Bailey Hutchison ladies and gentlemen, a shameless shill for the administration. A profile in cowardice, shamelessness, hackery. Kay Bailey Hutchison .”   (Al Franken, “The Al Franken Shows,” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02fraTwEcf8)

Franken On Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison: “I Could Whip Her (Behind).” “’I could take the president,’ he said, despite a certainty that Bush would ‘fight dirty.’ At about 200 pounds, Franken figures he has about 35 on the commander in chief. ‘You’d just get his legs, and then you’d beat his ears, and then uncle.’ Sen. John McCain of Arizona, whom Franken likes, would fall easily too. ‘That’s only because he can’t lift his shoulders’ because of injuries sustained as a Vietnam POW. Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison? ‘I could whip her (behind).’ Continuing on this feminist tack, Franken counts Maine senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe as sure victims.” (Vic Vogler, “Pin Down This Image: Franken v Bush,” Denver Post, October 10, 2004)

Well this really is the crux of why Franken is unfit for office, isn’t it.

A 15+ year career of fomenting hate and violence against those with whom he disagrees is a dark mark against Al Franken.

His history of hate, insults and degrading language against others will make it impossible for him to advance any agenda anywhere, much less in Washington.

Anyone interested in putting recent division behind us should be uninterested in voting for Al Franken, who has made millions creating and expanding that division.

So, the minority party is worried that a junior MAJORITY PARTY member would have a hard time sitting on said committee?

Seems to me, this would be a much bigger problem if he were in the minority and disliked by the committee chair.

But lets not confuse ourselves here. Sen. Hutchinson is coming back next spring as the ranking MINORITY PARTY member on this committee.

And the MN DFL Veterans Caucus has endorsed Al.

I guess what I am saying is, **YAWN**

“… isworried that a junior MAJORITY PARTY member would have a hard time sitting on said committee?”

Oh, he’s sit on the committee all right. He’d sit on it and fart on it, and punch it… etc.

Al Franken is a major fucking asshole. Everyone knows it. Anyone interested in solving division in Washington will be uninterested in sending that hate mongering piece of shit to Washington.

Senator shouldn’t be a promotion from failed radio show host any more than TSA agent should be a promotion from Cini-bon register operator.

While I agree with yout statement, It’s very funny to hear you talk about “solving division.”

The irony’s not lost on me either!

On the other hand, Patrick, I’m not running for Senate. Moreover, if the DFL had nominated a qualified candidate with anywhere near Minnesota values, who wasn’t a hate-mongering asshole (say perhaps ANYONE), I wouldn’t use this rhetoric.

Al Franken is a one of a kind piece of shit. He should have stayed in New York.

    Well, you have me there.

chestnut, you have it right that franken may well have done better running for the senate in new york. new yorkers are more tolerant of the obnoxious pontificating that franken espouses.

can’t you just see the ads after primary day with snippets of franken doing some of his so-called humor being worked into a political ad? and the franken folks will probably try to pull an obama and say that his prior work record should not be a factor in the election.

  9. Patrick Black Says:
    August 19th, 2008 at 8:34 PM

    Chestnut,

I also agree that Franken does not help the divisiveness. He’s like pouring gasoline on a fire. (not the direction we should be going).

Coleman’s NOT all that great either. What has he done for Minnesota? How has he tried to do things differently than usual? Answer: he hasn’t, not at all.

However, Franken is worse. And, when Obama is elected, Coleman and the Republicans won’t matter. We will have full majorities with no vetoes to override. Coleman can then be a more senior senator who works on bringing money into Minnesota.

In Franken’s campaign ad in New York I can she him sniffing cocaine then looking up at the camera and telling a joke about rape. He then says that while he has no experience whatsoever, he really believes in what he’s doing, so it’s all okay.

    “when Obama is elected”

We’ll see about that. you can always pledge to run to Canada and then not do it if things don’t turn out for you.

“Coleman can then be a more senior senator who works on bringing money into Minnesota.”

Does Coleman know that you’ve determined what he can and can’t do once re-elected?

Typical of a selfish Dem to demand elected officals bring home loads of pork. Despicable.

“Al Franken is a major fucking asshole.”

Remind me about your objections to Franken’s language, ya (cheney)in’ hypocrite.

  13. Quickie Says:

Name calling, dreaming up “facts” and just being jerks is the standard for democrats from here on out. That’s what “Angry Al” does, what he will do in the future and why the Hateful Left supports him. Too bad he and his handlers just don’t understand Minnesota and the people here. I wonder if that’s because he has not been living in Minnesota for the past 30 years and only now has returned because he thinks Minnesota voters a stupid enough to elect him into the US Senate.

What a sorry excuse for a human.

Why isn’t Norm angry about what’s happening to Minnesota veterans?

  15. Beetle Bumper Says:
    August 20th, 2008 at 7:53 AM

Democrats hate George Bush, Norm Coleman and they can’t say it in a public forum but they hate veterans too.
They want to screw veterans just like Elliot Spitzer did to the hooker. This time they won’t be paying as well.

  16. Patrick Black Says:
    August 20th, 2008 at 8:41 AM

    bowhuntdude,

I am assuming Obama will be elected. And, I’m not determining anything for Coleman if he’s elected. If Obama is elected, and Democrats have majorities in both houses, there won’t be much the Republicans can do. Correct me if I’m wrong in my thinking.

Unless, of course, Coleman realizes this truth, and becomes a Democrat.

DINO, RINO – it don’t matter to ol’ Smokescreen, as long as he’s got a government paycheck….
