MDE EXCLUSIVE: DFL LEGISLATIVE CANDIDATE PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR SMOKING DOPE IN PARKED CAR NEAR PLAYGROUND

    By Michael B. Brodkorb | August 26, 2008

DFL legislative candidate Shawn Hamilton boasts on his campaign website that he “is a candidate who shares the traditional and progressive Minnesotan values of the people of Blaine and Spring Lake Park.”  But I doubt the people of Blaine know about Hamilton’s past legal problems.

According to public records obtained by Minnesota Democrats Exposed, Hamilton was previously cited by the Blaine police for smoking marijuana in a parked car.  Hamilton’s “pipe” was confiscated and taken into evidence.  Sources familiar with area were Hamilton was cited, described the location as a parking lot “overlooking the children’s playground.” Classy.

But also disturbing is that according to public records, Hamilton’s car was involved in a potential gasoline theft from a Holiday station in April of this year. Records indicate that police left a voice-message with Hamilton about the gasoline theft.  Specifics of the alleged incident, which occurred one week after Hamilton was endorsed by the DFL, could not be confirmed with management of the gas station this morning.

Other minor incidents like a one-car accident and locking his keys out of his car near the “children’s playground” described above also appear on his public record.  Multiple calls placed to Hamiltion seeking comment were not returned before this post was published.

Please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed for more information on this developing story.

So the House DFL is running a convicted drug user and a convicted drunk driver (Linda Pfeilsticker).

      Classy bunch.

    2. The Truth Seeker Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 1:55 pm

Yikes. I thought this guy just had a simple petty theft or something when he was a teenager. Smoking dope by a kids’ playground?! Is there confirmation he drove off without paying for gas?! If this happened in the last few years, chalk up +1 for the Republicans. This is embarrassing.

    3. Swiftee Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 1:57 pm

      A children’s playground?

      Was Cheeto boy involved??

    4. loris Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 1:59 pm

Yeah, when did it happen? Maybe he just didn’t want to pay the DFL gas tax increase.

The Senate GOP was firm in coming out and saying they would not welcome lawbreaker Mark Olson into their caucus. The House DFL should hold itself to the same standard and disown this candidate immediately.

      But they won’t.

    5. DJZ Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 2:05 pm

Well, Brodkorb, you really are a creep aren’t you?
The dope and drive off are fair game.

The insinuation with the emphasis on the playground and children is out of line. You got anything behind that?

You’ve gotten disgusting in your attempt.

    6. Chestnut Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 2:15 pm

Ziggy dog shit, the police records, apparently, say the crimes took place near a playground.

Do you have similar documentation for your libel and smears, you worthless fuck.

    7. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 2:15 pm

Well, DJZ – that’s what ya should expect from the “Family Values” party, that covered up for Mark “What’s Your IM Name, Little Page?” Foley for years.

    8. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 2:17 pm

ChinNuts, don’t be in such a foul-mouthed mood; you republiCons will come up with a new “Jeff Gannon” real soon.

    9. bowhuntdude Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 2:38 pm

Reading through these comments, I just ask that we keep the profanities thrown at each other to a minimum. Seriously, name calling isn’t mature nor professional.

Shawn shouldn’t have been endorsed if the DFL knew about his past.

    10. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 2:41 pm

Tommy/Swiftee: Please don’t use my comment section to battle. Please e-mail each other.

    11. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 2:47 pm

      Michael, I don’t have swift’s email – and I don’t want it.

    12. CherylP Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 2:52 pm

If these are true, then I would not welcome this person in my DFL. I have the same attitude toward these type of allegations as the GOP has against Mark Olson. Slime isn’t wanted. Period.

    13. Swiftee Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 3:07 pm

Hell, Cheeto boy, or anyone else for that matter, can contact me anytime.

      I’m in the book.

We’ll see CP. But if history is any judge, you’ll just have to make room for Hamilton.

When the Democrat party says it’s a “big tent” it means “anything goes”, and that’s a fact.

    14. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 3:21 pm

If the voters in Mark Olson’s district want him to represent them in Saint Paul, bully for them. Anyone that doesn’t like their neighbors and who their neighbors elected can move. It’s a free country (for now).

And if Shawn Hamilton is elected, same thing.

Although it must be noted that what Hamilton is alleged to have done is NO WHERE NEAR as serious as what Olson was convicted of. Here’s what a quick google search turned up:

      ***
Petty Misdemeanor. Possession of a small amount of marijuana (1.5 ounces) is a petty misdemeanor. though petty misdemeanors are not considered “crimes”, it is punishable by a fine of up to $200 and attendance at an approved drug education program. A second conviction within two years under this section would be enhanced to a misdemeanor which is a crime and carries with it potential jail time.
      ***

Can someone actually be arrested, for smokin’ a joint in a parked car? I doubt it.

    15. Pete Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 3:35 pm

Whats the matter with that? Obama is an admitted drug user so why not the rest of the Democrat party? I have always assumed that drug use was a requirement for membership…

    16. ranger Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 3:45 pm

      Don’t forget Cocaine Al—-

    17. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 3:52 pm

Or Goerge aWol Bush, who had to flee to ‘Bama ’cause he flunked his flight physical ’cause he was all coked up.

Dumbya was born with a silver coke-spoon shoved up his nose.

Good thing his daddy was “connected”, otherwise Dumbya woulda been shipped off to the rice-paddies.

Hey – you ever see the “ChickenHawks” stuff Franken wrote, about all the rightwingnuts and what might have happened if their sorry asses had been in ‘Nam?

    18. Chestnut Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 3:58 pm

So Tommy just proved that all the debunked lies about GWB never really do die amongst the retarded Democrat Party members.

Good to know Democrats aren’t just stupid, they’re insane. Though, that was really unexpected either.

    19. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 4:09 pm

ChinNuts, just because some republiCon told you they’re “lies”, doesn’t mean they are. Because, they aren’t.

Dumbya flunked his flight physical, and transferred to ‘Bama – where he was never seen.

That’s the facts, and the fact you don’t believe those facts only goes to show what a (cheney)in’ bootlicker you are.

    20. Swiftee Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 4:10 pm

“what Hamilton is alleged to have done is NO WHERE NEAR as serious as what Olson was convicted of..”

Not surprising that Cheeto boy feels this way, coming, as it does, from a fat turd that received the “To Catch a Predator series as a gift set.

“Anyone that doesn’t like their neighbors and who their neighbors elected can move.”

I’m guessing that’s the same thing Cheeto boy says at community meetings being held to announce the arrival of a level III offender.

    21. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 4:16 pm

“I’m guessing that’s the same thing Cheeto boy says at community meetings being held to announce the arrival of a level III offender.”

Why don’t you move to this city and we’ll find out, Scrotee?

      Ya (cheney)in’ pervert.

    22. DJZ Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 4:17 pm

So now he’s a predator and sex offender?

Good job Brodkorb. Dope smoking scofflaw wasn’t enough, you had to go and add the salacious. i’m just amazed that you think this is ok. You seem normal and sane in person.

So how far is your kitchen table where you blog from the nearest school? Or, better yet, how far are you away from ol’ ChinNuts? His language and actions certainly can’t be appropriate.

Calm down, Cheeto boy. I’m waaay past the age of your “target audience”.

Ol’ Ziegler is floppin’ in the pan, i’nt he?

    25. Swiftee Says:

They should play that theme song whenever Hamilton shows up to meet the voters!

    26. Leroy Jenkins Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 4:42 pm

I agree with DJZ. A debate could be had over his apparent drug arrest, but when you reach one rung too far, and suggest that he is some sort of pedophile pushing drugs on kids, well, that is where your credibility goes out the window, and this story goes from being of interest to being unbelievable.

    27. Don Juan De la Noche Says:

I nominate Jays rap as the best MDE comment ever.

    28. ansel Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 4:54 pm

think we ought to wait and see if hamilton responds to press or mde inquiries.

my thoughts on the playground thing is that if someone was to smoke a couple of joints at a park, it probably does overlook a playground. the bigger question seems to be that it looks like he may have somewhat of a drug habit if he is smoking weed and driving, having to steal(?) gas. the playground thing may be nothing, but i think if you draw an analogy of someone that was drinking next to a playground, that would not be the kind of person you want serving in the mn leg.

    29. bowhuntdude Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 4:59 pm

      DJZ and Leroy,

I don’t think Michael insinuated anything other than smoking weed next to a children’s playground is more offensive than smoking it in your backyard.

If you are thinking he insinuated something about a pedophile or sexual predator that’s either from someone in this comments or your own mind. Michael posted nothing of the sort.

    30. The Audacity of HYPE Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 5:02 pm

I don’t think he was implying anything sexual about smoking near the playground. But if thats how you saw it, that says something about you.

The fact that it was near a playground makes it worse.

Unless you think doing drugs around kids is a good thing.

    31. Leroy Jenkins Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 5:06 pm

Michael is the king of implying things he can’t prove, and for you to look at anything he posts without looking through that lens, you are the one with the educational deficiency.

    32. C.I.L.A. Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 5:24 pm

I think the point being made about the playground isn’t that he is pushing drugs on kids, it’s that he is smoking pot and driving a car while around an area where children play. That’s shows a huge lack of judgement on Hamilton’s part. And a one car accident? Was he under the influence while this accident happened? Did he get high at the park and lock his keys in his car? Great judgement.

    33. Swiftee Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 5:29 pm

Let’s not kid ourselves. Hamilton has cemented his place as the next DFL candidate for Governor.

    34. Average Joe Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 5:51 pm

Michael is the king of implying things he can’t prove

You mean like that clown that says Angry Al has “paid every cent” of taxes but can’t prove it? You mean like that?

    35. DJZ Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 5:58 pm

      Thanks C.I.L.A.
I gathered that not from just the copy of the report but the parts that Brodkorb chose to the highlight:
      “pipe”
      “overlooking the children’s playground.”
      “children’s playground”

It certainly gives the story star a ‘lurker’ aura. More so than a stoner about to drive.

    36. surly Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 6:23 pm

      1) “pipe”
      2) “overlooking the children’s playground.”
      3) “children’s playground”
      4) (insert delusional fantasy here)
      5) See!! Brodkorb called him a pedo!! It’s right there in black and white!

    37. Chestnut Says:

“just because some republiCon told you they’re “lies”, doesn’t mean they are. Because, they aren’t.”

Yes they are. They’ve been debunked many, many times. Just because the voices in your head are yelling, doesn’t mean they’re telling the truth.

      “Dumbya flunked his flight physical”

      Prove it.

“and transferred to ‘Bama – where he was never seen.”

      Prove it.

Prove anything, Tommy, you dumb shit.

    38. Chestnut Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 6:34 pm

“but when you reach one rung too far, and suggest that he is some sort of pedophile pushing drugs on kids,”

MDE NEVER suggested pedophilia. DJZ did. And now Leroy did.

Kinda like nobody ever questioned that dumb fuck Nancy Pelosi’s patriotism… they questioned her JUDGEMENT… she brought her “patriotism” into it.

MDE called out the fact that the Democrat piece of trash in question was smoking dope near children.

    39. Chestnut Says:
      August 26th, 2008 at 6:36 pm

      Ziggy,
You’re too fucking stupid to comprehend the simplest of concepts. The idea that you would read something unspoken into this story is not unexpected, but it illustrates what a retarded pile of dog shit you are.

michael, how long ago did this happen? i think that makes a difference.

john mccain and obama both used drugs in their heyday, yet they are both seen by many as respectable politicians. and then there is W. his past drug use didn’t seem to hinder his ability to lead the country (or did it…?).

      Serious question out of curiosity:

What level of drug usage is generally attributed to Obama and McCain?

As I understand it, Obama openly admits to both marijuana and cocaine.

      What has McCain acknowledged?

    44. Yoni C. Says:

I have yet to see anyone with any credibility show that John McCain ever cheated on his spouse. Yes, he’s in a second marriage, but that’s not the same thing.

Like I said earlier: It’s interesting to see the same liberal assholes who’ve complained endlessly about an alleged whisper campaign in 2000 derailing McCain’s nomination then, turn around and yell far worse allegations against his character.

Interesting, but not unexpected from Democrats, who are the most dishonest bastards around.

John McCain is also a guy who actually has a track record of bi-partisanship and for getting things done.

Link here to watch a YouTube of Hannity ‘n Colmes that discusses McCain’s adultery; that discusses the book McCain wrote that discusses McCain’s adultery, and how McCain’s adultery is no problemo, but Edward’s adultery is.

And it’s the last part that’s most telling; it’s a major reason why GOP now stands for GreedOverPrinciples: when a GOPer does something slimy it’s no problemo; when a democrat does something slimy it’s a BIG problemo.

Oh – say, RamseyRep? It’s HYPOCRISY I’m pointing out, but you’re too stupid to figure that out – even when told. But, look at the bright side; you’re a prime example of why The Small Tent Party keeps getting smaller!

How about then trying to cover it up by KNOWINGLY lying on his subsequent official reports for which he was found guilty of a Gross Misdemeanor the same week Mark Olson was convicted of a simple misdemeanor? Google Sen. Mike Jungbauer with model airplanes. You folks are such hypocrites and you are scared because the party is almost over. There is a new sheriff coming to town.
