VIDEO: COLLEGE REPUBLICANS ASK PEOPLE IF AL FRANKEN’S JOKE ABOUT RAPE IS FUNNY

    By Michael B. Brodkorb | August 27, 2008

This video from the University of Minnesota College Republicans poped up on YouTube of people being asked if Al Franken’s joke about drugging and raping Lesley Stahl was funny.

As you can see from the video, Franken’s rape joke doesn’t go over very well.

Did they ask people if they thought McCain’s joke about putting his wife in the “Miss Buffalo Chip” contest?

If you’d like, I could put a link to what the “contestants” in the “beauty pageant” McCain jokes about putting his wife in, looks like.

You wouldn’t believe what those “contestants” do with a banana…..but, that’s different, “right”?

Way to go, Michael - republiCon hypocrisy at it’s lowest“finest”.

    2. Aaron Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 9:11 am

Yet for some reason, Michael Brodkorb finds exploiting an eight-year-old girl “hilarious.”

    3. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 9:12 am

Aaron, go to YouTube, and enter “Bikini Beauty Pageant at the Buffalo Chip” into the search field.

Check out the “beauty contest” McCain joked about entering Wife Numero Dos into….it’s a real hoot.

    4. Aaron Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 9:26 am

Tommy- I don’t care, honestly. I know the difference between a joke and where someone stands. Coleman’s ad having an eight-year-girl lie in an attack ad was never meant to be a joke. It doesn’t even compare to off-color humor.

    5. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 9:34 am

      Well, Aaron, I do care.

republiCons think Franken discussing off-color jokes in a writing session is terrible - and this is a joke that never made it to TV; but Serial Adulterer John McCain joking about putting Wife Numeros Dos into a sleazy stripper contest is just fine.

The hypocrisy of the GreedOverPrinciples party is simply astounding.

    6. Swiftee Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 9:35 am

Watching Aaron the Aairhead and his pet pot bellied pig, Cheeto boy flap around on the floor while Mike slapps the crap out of their idiot candidates really makes a morning cup o’ coffee that much more enjoyable!

      Slapp! Smack!

      HAHAHAHAHAHA!

    7. ansel Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 9:47 am

i think the 8-year old ad must of been most effective or we would not be hearing the bellicose objections of the libs.

    8. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 9:54 am

So, ansel - you think McCain jokin’ about Wife Numeros Dos in a sleazy striper contest is funny?

    9. Discontented DFLer Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 10:08 am

      Wait, wait, wait…

First, EXPLOITING an 8 year old girl? Was she forced to do the ad? Were her parents forced to put her in it? Was someone (the kid or her parents) paid to do the ad? I don’t know if that counts as exploitation.

And the girl didn’t lie- Did Franken not pay his taxes? Did Franken say that he didn’t pay because he wasn’t told to? I’m not seeing any lies in that ad.

Level the playing field- saying that Sen. Coleman exploited that girl is the same as claiming the Franken exploited that aged teacher for his ad. Or saying that anyone exploits anyone else they use in any ad.

So why aren’t there any comments about the actual subject of this post? Here’s one- rape jokes aren’t funny, and that one doesn’t even try to be funny.

On a side- the whole republiCon/democRat thing? Grow up, boys; that’s not even clever, and you’re not helping/changing anything.

    10. Stonewall Jackson Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 10:10 am

      Ansel makes a good point.

It reminds me of, back in 2002, when the DFL was all worked up about the TV ad that featured Norm Coleman’s daughter. That ad, like the current one with the eight-year-old (”Al Franken is, like, 100″) was very effective.

    11. ansel Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 10:11 am

excellent point discontented dfler. if the 8 year old is being exploited, then i guess franken exploits senior citizens by taking advantage of his old school teacher.

as you read through most of the blog postings it is quite evident the libs prefer to try diversion to actually providing an intellectual disagreement.

    12. Left is RIGHT Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 10:12 am

They forgot to ask about this one. Is this joke funny?

“I have a wife who genuinely loves to fish. I mean, she will take the lead and ask me to go out fishing, and joyfully comes here. She loves football, she’ll go to hockey games and, I jokingly say, ‘Now, if I could only get her to have sex with me.’”

    13. Swiftee Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 10:30 am

      “Is this joke funny?”

Not to a Porn-O-Rama supporter….no rape punchline and no beastiality at all.

    14. Swiftee Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 10:34 am

      Say, Cheeto boy?

Dance faster, boy. You’ve got some makeup work to do after the public slap down I delivered to your daddy Al last Sunday!

      Slapp! “Haven’t I, I, I have already answered that” “Not truthfully”…Smack…Slapp!

      Hahahahaha

    15. Chestnut Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 10:34 am

Yes, it is kinda funny, Left is Stupid. What’s not funny, is a 30 year history of making humor out of violent sexual attacks on women.

Andrew Dice Clay, Al Franken and Howard Stern have a lot in common. None of them should be Senator from Minnesota.

    16. Greg Lang Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 10:57 am

That was brilliant. Next week interview the publicity hungry protesters and slip this in. It should be “choice” especially with feminist protesters.

    17. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 11:34 am

Say, Greg? You think those “feminist protesters” are really gonna vote for Bushy McSame for prez knowing that would make “Miss Buffalo Chip” ‘First Stripper Lady’?

    18. Average Joe Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 11:41 am

      Well, Aaron, I do care.

You’re a fricken liar. You don’t care, you’re trying to score idiotic political points shooting a gun without bullets.

There’s a difference to normal people between a mistake about not knowing it’s a strip contest and one who knowingly does rape jokes.

The idea that ANY person with a conscience could not only support that but defend it is sick, pathetic and despicable. But you are one sick, pathetic, despicable person so what else should we expect.

    19. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 11:53 am

      ROFLMAO!!!!

      You’re quite the bootlicker, AJ!!!!

    20. Chestnut Says:

      Let’s compare:

You give a pass to a potty mouthed, tax cheating, porn-writing guy who jokes about raping women.

And you call me the “bootlicker”.

      Pathetic.

      It’s a sick world, Scrotee - and you’re a happy guy.

    31. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 1:38 pm

AJ, Serial Adulterer John McCain is very familiar with strippers; he know exactly what the “Miss Fuffalo Chip” contest was.

The fact that you want to give him a pass on it, and excuse him as simply being ignorant, only shows what a (cheney)in’ bootlicker you are.

McCain takes the endorsement of a radical, extremist bigot pastor, and you bootlickers let him off the hook ’cause he had an “I didn’t know” moment; now you’re doin’ the same thing when he joked about his wife doin’ stuff with a banana in front of bikers at a biker bar to win the “Miss Buffalo Chip” contest.

You’re a sorry and pathetic lot, and it’s no surprise your hypocritical Small Tent Party keeps gettin’ smaller.

    32. Chestnut Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 1:54 pm

Tommy, Anti-American Democrat Barak Obama is very familiar with terrorists; he know exactly what who Bill Ayers is, what he did and Barak supports his bombing of the U.S. Capitol.

The fact that you want to give him a pass on it, and excuse him as simply being ignorant, only shows what a fascist bootlicker you are.

Obama takes the endorsement of a radical, anti-American extremist bigot pastor, and you bootlickers let him off the hook ’cause he had an “I didn’t know” moment.

You’re a sorry and pathetic lot, and it’s no surprise your hypocritical Small Tent Party keeps gettin’ smaller. (according to Rassmusen reports anyway — the number of people who identify themselves as Democrats dropped 3 percent in July.)

Keep posting your lies, Tommy. You’re getting the message out that Democrats are the most insane, stupid bunch out there.

    33. Dash Riprock Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 2:03 pm

      Hey Flounder,

Why do you waste so much time dodging the real questions and trying to deflect from Franken’s history?

I could spend hours, if not days, highlighting Democrat’s scandals including: Kennedy, Frank, Pelosi, Clinton, Jefferson, Mauroulres, Spitzer, Berer, Torricelli, Jesse Jackson, Murtha, etc., etc. These are just a few who actually broke laws, which may also be true of Franken.

I saw you brought up the homo and nudity stuff again. You are the only one doing this. Why is that?

    34. John Kotlaba Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 2:08 pm

Chestnut stated that “Barak supports his bombing of the U.S. Capitol.” If you don’t have any proof (and you DON”T) that Obama supports the bombing of the U.S. Capitol, you need to withdraw that baseless assertion.

Maybe I’m in the wrong place for rational discussion.

    35. Average Joe Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 2:24 pm

he know exactly what the “Miss Fuffalo Chip” contest was.

Now the pathetic supporter of the potty-mouthed, tax-cheat’n, porn-write’n, rape-joke-tell’n Angry is a mind-reader, too.

      What an idiot.

    36. Chestnut Says:

      John Kotlaba,
You failed to recognize the sarcasm.

But he (Obama) is a friend and supporter of an avowed terrorist (Ayers) who wishes he would have bombed more… that’s just a fact.

Funny…where’s the Con “outrage” about John McCain’s joke where the gorilla rapes a woman?

I think the polls in this state are making the Cons nervous.

When was the last time you saw them talk about any real issues?

“Be afraid, very afraid,” they say, “bin Laden is still out there.” And the Cons can’t seem to catch him.

Oh, that’s why they won’t run on their record!

    40. Chestnut Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 10:17 pm

Yeah, Yogibear, that would be a great story if it were true. It’s right up there with the tape of Michelle Obama yelling “kill whitey.”

Probably neither of those things ever happened.

Did you miss this part of the story: “”It’s pretty obvious to us that this is a politically motivated sideshow,” Torrie Clarke, McCain’s spokeswoman at the time, said back in 1986. Till this day it has never been proven definitively true or false whether the Senator ever said the line.”

I’ll stand back and wait for you to apologize for continuing the libel against this man…. oh, nevermind.

    41. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 27th, 2008 at 10:47 pm

Apologize to the guy that turned The Straight Talk Express into The WaterBoard Express; the guy that wanted his wife to play with a banana in front of bikers to win the “Miss Buffalo Chip” stripper contest; they guy that was cheatin’ on his wife and bought the marriage license for Wife Numero Dos while still married to Wife Numero Dumped?

      Go (cheney) yourself, bootlicker.

    42. Yogibear Says:
      August 28th, 2008 at 2:31 am

Chestnut - no, I did not miss that part of the article. But apparently you missed this part:

      (quote)
The Huffington Post reached out to the original reporter in that story, Norma Coile (who after talking to multiple sources months after it was told wrote about the response to the rape joke in the Tuscon Citizen) to find out if she thought it was true.

“I’m not sure exactly what the wording was of the joke, but something was said. Some joke involving a rape and ape was said. Enough women repeated it to me at the time and the McCain campaign had a non-denial denial,” said Coile
      (/quote)

The reporter of the original article had multiple sources confirming the story. A politician’s spokesperson giving a non-denial denial doesn’t hold much weight against eyewitness accounts.

      *********************

Tommy Johnson - using that kind of language weakens your credibility. There is no need to lower yourself to their level. Simply stating the plain truth is enough to defeat the neo-con zombies. Let’s be civil, even to the haters.

    43. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 28th, 2008 at 7:43 am

Well, Yogi - back in the day, when it was the Indpendent-Republican Party, I belonged. Then the idiots ideologically-correct began the purge, and ran those that didn’t lick boots out, and changed the name to “Republican Party of Minnesota” (RPM).

So I spent a lot of time with republiCons; and every once in a while I slip and talk like those b@st@rd @ssholes do. Because, those (cheney)in’ dickheads are real pricks, and that’s why The Small Tent Party keeps gettin’ smaller.

So, forgive me for those occasional lapses, when I slip and talk like a (cheney)in’ hypocritical republiCon.

Those @ssholes are makin’ their Small Tent smaller, and pretty soon there won’t be that many of ‘em.

    44. Chestnut Says:
      August 28th, 2008 at 7:50 am

      Oh Yogi,
So you expect anyone to believe rumors and second-hand innuendo published on the PuffingtonHost as a reliable source. O.k. Thanks for clearing that up.

I’ve read a bit on that story. There are at least as many people who don’t really remember well what he said but are certain something was said (credible sources? Hardly.) as there are people with solid memories that it never happened.

Maybe McCain said it. But maybe Michelle Obama screamed “Kill Whitey!!!!”

    45. Gopdude Says:
      August 28th, 2008 at 7:55 am

All of you keep running from the main point. Al Franken wrote this joke. We are talking about the DFL candidate for US Senate from Minnesota. All of you lefties keep switching this to McCain and other Republicans but we are talking about Franken.

Here is the real question. Based on Franken’s view on rape as a joke, how can you truly consider voting for him? Answer that.

    46. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 28th, 2008 at 8:19 am

“Based on Franken’s view on rape as a joke, how can you truly consider voting for him? Answer that.”

Because the alternative, Norm “Smokescreen” Coleman, R=Lapdog, is much worse.

If you don’t agree with Norm today, don’t worry - he’ll change. Always has; always will. If Norm does win, all it’ll take is the promise of a committee chair and Norm will stick a “D” behind his name faster than it takes an out-of-state check to clear.

    47. RamseyRep Says:
      August 28th, 2008 at 8:28 am

Once again Tommy “Smokescreen” Johnson is attempting to
claim a strip contest is the same as a rape just proves he is an unhinged attention grabbing a-hole
      with no grip in reality.

In appreciation to Tommy “Smokescreen Johnson, I would like to throw down the name JOHN EDWARDS. C’mon Tommy, you remember John Edwards having an affair and fathering a child out of wedlock to another woman while his wife is dying of cancer.
I’m waiting for Tommy’s next Al Franken @sslicking post that will try to claim that since John McCain looked at a woman, he’s guilty of having an affair with her.
Tommy, do you also remember a guy named BILL CLINTON who had multiple affairs and even had sexual relations with a woman who was his subordinate? Let me guess.. Clinton was innocent and it was Ken Starr who was the pervert.
Yes, Tommy. We have read enough of your idiotic posts to know you are a tool and retard.

    48. BarbaraK Says:
      August 28th, 2008 at 10:18 am

      RamseyRep, I don’t really believe you want to go down this road, but since you opened the discussion;
You stated that people “claim that since John McCain looked at a woman, he’s guilty of having an affair with her.” John McCain, was a serial adulterer. He had multiple affairs. You can follow Sean Hannity’s lead and attempt to excuse McCain’s behavior by bringing up the fact that he was a POW, but that is not an excuse for this behavior. McCain got a marriage license with Cindy Hensley while he was still married to his first wife. He was “dating” Cindy for nine months before he was divorced, and he married Cindy within about 1 month of being divorced. So don’t try to claim McCain was just looking at women. That dog won’t hunt.

    49. Tommy Johnson Says:
      August 28th, 2008 at 10:38 am

BarbaraK, republiCon bootlickers like RamseyRep are (cheney)in’ hypocrites that repeat lies because they SOUND true.

And they have no problemo rippin’ Clinton for his affair, but give Newt “Is My Wife Well Enough To Divorce Yet?” Gingrich a pass for haulin’ his ass outa some bimbo’s bed, while his wife was in the hospital, to go pass judgement on Clinton doin’ some bimbo.

BOTH gingrich and clinton were WRONG, but republiCon bootlickers like RamseyRep only condemn Clinton - proving, once again, that GOP now stands for GreedOverPrinciples.
