MN PUBLIUS BLOGGER SHOCK: PUSHING “AMAZING” RUMOR ABOUT PALIN’S SON
By Michael B. Brodkorb | August 31, 2008

Team Franken’s embedded blogger at MN Publius, Aaron Landry, is pushing the disgusting rumor that Governor Sarah Palin’s is lying about being the mother of her fifth child.  Landry calls the rumor “amazing.” MN Publius and Landry should be embarrassed.

Your site gets more traffic than my Twitter feed. I’m not trying to push a rumor: it was on DAILY KOS. I doubt my Twitter feed makes much difference in that department. In fact, by saying “catching up” implies that many of the people I communicate with already knew about it.
I’m not surprised you’re trying to push this rumor though.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:42 AM
How the hell is that pushing the rumor? He says it’s “super sad” and “amazing” could just as easily be read that it is completely ridiculous.
August 31st, 2008 at 9:55 AM
Oh, looks like you were pushing your 51 followers to the rumor too.
Again, I’m not surprised you care about pushing this one around about Palin.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:08 AM
Aaron: You should be embarrassed and I’m highlighting your disgusting “tweet.” You are pushing this disgusting rumor. You have no shame. You are attacking a mother and her child. If you keep this crap up in my comment section Aaron, I will ban you from commenting. This is your only warning.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:10 AM
daily kos or one of the other left-wing radical websites was showing a photo of palin in february and contending her figure had no ballooned enough for her to be pregnant.
first the photo they showed was a “long shot”; second, the baby was born early.
i hope kos and friends continue this; mccain might actually win.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:12 AM
ansel: Landry and the rest of his kind in the liberal blogosphere should be embarrassed. This is disgusting.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:14 AM
now that we have all had a few days to digest this news, i think the best thing that comes out of the palin addition is that rino’s can see what happens when you put true conservatism on the ballot.
i went from probably voting for mccain while holding my nose to sending him a check last friday when he announced palin and listening to her speech. if she can hold her own against biden, she will become a political force, not only for this election, but coming elections.
if she flops against biden she will be relegated back to alaska which would also be okay because she is a drill now, drill here person. the one thing i would like to hear is why the press thinks biden is such a great debater? i certainly never have seen that and the libs have not seen it based on their votes for his presidential aspirations.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:26 AM
Because I twittered about something millions of people are talking about, and then say that it’s “super sad,” doesn’t mean I’m disgusting, lacking shame or attacking a mother and her child.
You’re using this as an excuse to ban me from commenting here.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:29 AM
Aaron,
The fact that millions of people are pushing a disgusting and mean spirited “rumor” about Gov. Palin’s child is appalling. What’s worse is that you’re participating in spreading the “rumor.” Mnpublius should be above board not in the gutter with the daily kooks.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:30 AM
I’m not using this as an excuse to ban you from commenting here. I haven’t banned you from commenting. But you are not going to use my comment section to lie about me.
You are pushing this rumor and you should be embarrassed. You are attacking a mother and her child. You called the rumor “amazing”…you really should be embarrassed. Just because a million people are talking about it, doesn’t make it right.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:41 AM
Aaron,
So by calling the rumor “Super Sad”, are you saying that those who spread the rumor are a bunch of sad sacks? Or are you sad about the notion that Governor Palin (supposedly) lied about the baby?
Would it be “sad” if she DID raise the kid? I think it’d be a sign of character, if it WERE true.
Oh, and did the crack journos at the Kos get any photos of any pregnant Palin daughters or sons’ girlfriends? Because I dunno if have kids, Aaron, but that’s kinda a prerequisite.
August 31st, 2008 at 10:50 AM
A couple auxiliary notes:
What I say on my personal Twitter account has nothing to do with MNpublius. I wear a lot of hats.
What is the real intent of this thread? Does this needs topic need such a spotlight for MDE’s readers?
August 31st, 2008 at 10:51 AM
Oh my. Again a story of total theory of complete and utter nonsense.
So lets assume this ruse was going on. The ‘evidence’ Daily Kos delivers is the family photo and the daughter looking preggers.
If this was to be kept under wraps there are far more concealing shirts to have the daughter wear to hide the baby bump than that one that enhances it and have her suck in the gut. Look at the other family photo and the daughter has a little extra in the tummy as well. For an elaborate conspiracy and shame to the Catholic school they went about hiding it poorly.
Ask the photographer, where is he? He spent time taking the photo and makeup people? The depths and dirty nature of this and that back in April or even 9 months prior to that was this junior politician have it in the grand plans to hide this for the VP run?
Of course on the other side, McCain and the GOP just randomly pick someone with no research and background digging to ensure that skeletons like this one don’t exist before making the decision… instead of the Left way of doing things and pointing out one thing and making it fact I would like people to look at the whole picture and timeline and there is no way this is nothing more than a smear.
……
So let’s look at it that if it was.
So what? Like thousands of American families this situation happens. She is a devout family woman who loves her family very much and stood by her morals and standards. She could have aborted this in total secret and swept it under the rug and no one would be the wiser. But no. She brought a life into this world, one with a defect, and is throwing herself in the front to protect both the new baby and her little girl. She acted as a loving mother, a loving human and showed more character and strength by doing this than anyone in Washington today.
Good for her if this is the case! Make me pull the lever harder and faster than before for her!
God bless!
August 31st, 2008 at 11:07 AM
What Joe said.
If it WERE true – absurd as that’d be – it’ll resonate with a hell of a lot people from the “my life has thrown me a zillion curveballs” constituency – which crosses all age, gender, race and economic classes.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:58 AM
To follow up on MBerg, if it IS true, wouldn’t she have to step aside?
In her first national press conference, she lied to the American people. Y’all impeached Clinton for that. Seems to me, the easiest case for McCain would be to cut his losses and go with plan B.
August 31st, 2008 at 11:58 AM
Here is a link to Sarah Palin pregnancy photos in February and March which shoot down the Daily Kos and MN Publius atrocious character assasination attempt.

I wonder if the Daily Kos attack was done to fight back the current Zogby poll results showing McCain / Palin leading over Obama / Biden.
Of course, the latest comparison of Palin to Obama is not helping the Obama team.

Governor Palin has run a state and a town and a commercial fishing operation, whereas Senator Obama ain’t run nothin’ but his mouth.
And the photo comparisons don’t help a bit, either:

not to mention that both rasmussen and gallup leads are starting to fade. rasmussen spread down 1 point (bho now leads by 3) and gallup down by 2 (bho now leads by 6). i believe both of these tracking polls use a three day moving average so i expect mccain to continue to gain over next two days to probably a breakeven point.
what the polls tell us at this point in time is not necessarily who will win, but that the race is up for grabs. two months ago it was expected to be a landslide for bho. job well done mccain!
August 31st, 2008 at 12:32 PM
Landry’s twitter feed has as much to do with MNPublius as MDE’s blog has to do with his work on the GOP’s dime.
If you are going to associate everything a blogger does, even when not publishing for said blog, then should we say that Erik Paulson’s spokesperson wrote this post?
August 31st, 2008 at 12:35 PM
Aaron says: “I wear a lot of hats.” What a great defense. Do any of these liberal hats have humanity in them? I guess when you don’t believe in God, this is what you get.

Andy: I am not Erik Paulsen’s spokesman – that was a temporary assignment. I am a part-time research consultant to Paulsen’s congressional campaign. I shouldn’t be surprised that a “reporter” for MN Indy can’t get their facts straight.
August 31st, 2008 at 12:39 PM
The misogynistic, racist Democrat Party is showing its true colors.

“Andy: I am not Erik Paulsen’s spokesman – that was a temporary assignment. I am a part-time research consultant to Paulsen’s congressional campaign. I shouldn’t be surprised that a “reporter†for MN Indy can’t get their facts straight.”
Speaking of Paulsen, is he even still running for Congress? Not attending events, not even a press release since early August despite there being a reporting period and a debate since then.
I know he got beat in both fund-raising and the debate but I would have thought he would at least try and spin.
August 31st, 2008 at 1:15 PM
I applaud your accepting such a paltry position as a part time researcher for Erik Paulsen, Michael. I must admit I didn’t quite realize that it was such a well paying position. The latest FEC report shows that this part time assignment has netted you $9k in 6 weeks. What precisely did you do for that paltry sum?
August 31st, 2008 at 1:17 PM
How is it mysoginistic to question the paternity of a child that is being used as a campaign prop?
You all throw out allagations against Franken and then demand that he present his accountant to disprove your theories. Why is asking for a paternity test on the miracle baby any different?

Ha. No wonder he’s blowing through his money without doing a thing.

Wow Leroy, you’ve been feasting on stupidity all weekend, haven’t you.
August 31st, 2008 at 1:31 PM
Wow, 9k in 6 weeks. not bad for a part time gig.
not sure what your research netted though, things seem pretty good for Captain Madia right now.
August 31st, 2008 at 1:32 PM
But i do agree with you those rumors about Palin are pretty disgusting, the troopergate thing is pretty compelling though.
August 31st, 2008 at 2:33 PM
the best that the libs have been able to muster against palin is the trooper-gate investigation. the way i read the case is that the best evidence they have at the moment is that one of palin’s aides called monegan (a political appointee she fired) saying the governor thought her ex-brother in-law represented a bad image for alaska highway patrol. monegan stated he “felt pressure” to fire the guy, never mind that it would be virtually impossible to do so under civil service/union rules. monegan acknowledged no one specifically asked him to fire the trooper.
what puts a damper on this story is that the conversation of the aide was recorded by the state patrol, but how did it get released? by palin’s office.
making the assumption (based on what is out there now) that palin wanted a better image of the alaska highway patrol and she probably despises the ex-brother in-law, how could any reasonable person disagree when you know the brother in-law acknowledged using a taser on his step-son, drinking in a squad car and threatening his spouse?
August 31st, 2008 at 2:41 PM
I don’t think trooper gate is all Dems hasve on Pailn. Her lack of experience is what is getting play — specifically, her lack of knowledge of what she’ll do if she’s elected and the fact she just recently got her passport.
Few are going to latch on to trooper gate. Many, however, will take notice of her far right social beliefs (teaching creationism, for example) and her less than two years of any relevant experience.
August 31st, 2008 at 2:49 PM
pd, i agree with you. obviously i have a different take on her qualifications, but you may well be correct. i, of course, think that bho’s positions will be more offensive to more voters than palin’s, but then guess we will get to see when on nov. 5.

Let’s see how long it takes for the “She was wearing a pregger suit”
Maybe the guys over at the Daily Kos watch Desperate Housewives too…. Didn’t the hot red head do the fake pregger thing to protect her daughter who was really pregnant?
……
Let’s start a new one for the other side…
Obama Lied… He was seen buying a case of shoe polish!!!

Even some comments on Daily Kos aren’t as lame as Aarons “one of the most amazing but super sad political rumors ever”:
“Let the tabloids haul this manure.”
August 31st, 2008 at 3:12 PM
Well the Democrat party can be ashamed its true colors that have been shown since Friday. First was Obama’s unbelievably callous disrespect for Sarah Palin (of course he abruptly changed his course). Then they started pounding their chests about the hurricane (which they have shamelessly and unconsciounably used to promote themselves since 2005, much like they use the 35W bridge collapse) and now this.
The only question is whether or not their over-the-top Hollywood glitz from Obama’s sermon will overshadow the true character of their party that has now been exposed.
August 31st, 2008 at 3:16 PM
This blog post makes a great point: Suppose this “rumor” is actually true, is that worse than Obama saying he wouldn’t want to “punish” his daughters with a baby?
http://michellemalkin.com/2008/08/31/palin-attacks-counterproductive-as-well-as-moronic/
More of the Democrats’ true character exposed.
August 31st, 2008 at 3:54 PM
“the troopergate thing is pretty compelling though.”
How so? Shouldn’t a wife beater who tasers his son with state equipment and threatens to kill his ex-wife’s family be fired?
There’s nothing compelling about it. It’s not even curious.
August 31st, 2008 at 3:57 PM
“Her lack of experience is what is getting play…”
As opposed to the EEOC internship the head of your ticket has? … Palin is far more qualified than Barak Obama. Good luck hypocritically playing the “experience” card. LOL!
August 31st, 2008 at 3:59 PM
Joe, that’s hillarious…. “Barak Obama, son of a black MAN from Kenya and a white MAN from Kansas…”
LMAO!!!
August 31st, 2008 at 7:33 PM
Not being discussed enough-
I think the biggest points in Palin’s
favor is what she is not:
*not a good ol’ boy corrupt politician
*not a DC senator
*not a DC congresswoman
*not a stale, white-bread male
and especially-
*NOT A LAWYER

Ya know Leroy, I don’t agree with your positions on, well everything, but I never had anything personal against you. Until now.
I can’t believe that you would equate sujecting an infant to a paternity test to Franken releasing his tax records.

Where’s Aaron now and his Amazing claims? Looks like all those facts and evidence that he and liberal bloggers used were a tad off…
Wait… they dont use fact and evidence, just loose connections and BS rhetoric to meet their agenda.
I’d continue but I will just sit back and watch the Dems and their ‘supporters’ in the blog world keep pushing the crap to the main stream media and destroy themselves into losing the election… again.
Keep it up Demmys! Keep it up!

Looks like Obama sees the danger –
Obama on Palin
Politico’s Carrie Budoff Brown reports: At a press avail in Monroe, Mich., Barack Obama on Palin: “Back off these kinds of stories.”
“I have said before and I will repeat again: People’s families are off limits,” Obama said. “And people’s children are especially off-limits. This shouldn’t be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin’s performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be a topic of our politics.”
On charges that his campaign has stoked the story via liberal blogs:
“I am offended by that statement. There is no evidence at all that any of this involved us,” he said. “Our people were not involved in any way in this, and they will not be. And if I thought there was somebody in my campaign who was involved in something like that, they would be fired.”
September 1st, 2008 at 2:58 PM
“white-bread?” Think about that term.
Most 17-year-olds are “minors,” and are treated as such.
