PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW: “PALIN GETS PRIME CHANCE TO PROVE MCCAIN RIGHT”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 3, 2008

“Some conservatives say she could do both by reprising, in part, her introduction speech Friday, when she paid homage to her blue-collar roots.
‘She needs to tell her story — how she came to be governor and the successes and setbacks that have built her into the person that she is today,’ said Minnesota delegate Michael Brodkorb, 34, of Eagan.
‘I want her to talk about her record of reform, what worked and what did not. You can tell a lot about someone if they can pinpoint what their challenges were.’” Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, September 3, 2008

It’s also a primte-time chance to prove McCain WRONG.
She’s got a lot ridin’ on her shoulders tonight.
September 3rd, 2008 at 10:38 am
Seriously, can McCain vet at all? So much for trying your Obama has a crazy church argument against Obama. And, kiss goodbye the Jewish vote.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13098.html
“Palin’s pastor, Larry Kroon, introduced Brickner on Aug. 17, according to a transcript of the sermon on the church’s website. “He’s a leader of Jews for Jesus, a ministry that is out on the leading edge in a pressing, demanding area of witnessing and evangelism,” Kroon said. Brickner then explained that Jesus and his disciples were themselves Jewish “The Jewish community, in particular, has a difficult time understanding this reality,” he said. Brickner’s mission has drawn wide criticism from the organized Jewish community, and the Anti-Defamation League accused them in a report of “targeting Jews for conversion with subterfuge and deception.” Brickner also described terrorist attacks on Israelis as God’s “judgment of unbelief” of Jews who haven’t embraced Christianity. “Judgment is very real and we see it played out on the pages of the newspapers and on the television. It’s very real. When [Brickner's son] was in Jerusalem he was there to witness some of that judgment, some of that conflict, when a Palestinian from East Jerusalem took a bulldozer and went plowing through a score of cars, killing numbers of people. Judgment — you can’t miss it.” Palin was in church that day, Kroon said, though he cautioned against attributing Brickner’s views to her.”
September 3rd, 2008 at 10:48 am
Well, as we all know, if she was in the same church as someone saying such things, she not only endorses the views, but they are the foundation on which her faith is built.
In related news, CNN is reporting that NASA just announced that in addition to the great wall of China and the Egyptian pyramids, a new man made object is visible to astronauts in space. It is Michael Brodkorb’s ego-inflated HEAD.

I wonder how Governor Moose Meat is gonna explain away her love of pork?

Leroy, you really are an idiot aren’t you. A guest speaker comes in for one day and you equat that to sitting in the church pew for years listening to the resident pastor spew hate against America. It is fun seeing the radical left shit their pants because of McCain’s VP pick. The more lies you and your ilk spew the better the pick looks to me. To bad your candidate can’t run on issues - is it really so bad that you have to do this type of thing in order to have any hope to win?
September 3rd, 2008 at 11:18 am
Tommy, keep trying. Loser. HA HA HA

Wow, could you be any more hypocritical? “This type of thing” is exactly what the GOP has been trying to hit Obama with all campaign long. McCain was out there saying “you can pick your church” yet now when the exact same charge can be leveled against Palin it’s suddenly “ilk?”
She sat there in the pew and listened to this whack job. Did she condemn his statement? Did she divorce herself from them? Does she even disagree with them?
September 3rd, 2008 at 11:40 am
Tommy and Leroy must be getting pretty tired.
All that running around like chickens with thier heads cut off trying to throw anything they can find against the new VP.
And failing miserably at it.
September 3rd, 2008 at 11:52 am
Reformer?
She supported the Bridge to Nowhere.
Hired a big DC lobbying firm to win her small town millions in earmarks.
Currently under investigation for abuse of power.
Left her job as Mayor with her city in debt that wasn’t there before she became Mayor.
Sounds like more of the same from the Republicans, or should I say McSame?
(que the Swiftee laugh) Bawahahahahahahahah!
September 3rd, 2008 at 11:54 am
…oh and not to mention her pissing on McCain-Feingold, by running a money laundering 527 for indicted Alaska Senator Ted Stevens.
(now que the Swiftee laugh) Bawahahahahahahahah!
September 3rd, 2008 at 12:04 pm
I saw that PETA had two people dressed in pig suits walking around the Landmark Center last night. Must have been Tommy and Leroy and their plot to investigate whether Michael is, indeed, a seated national delegate. Desperation. Desperation.
September 3rd, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Leroy, Obama = week after week, year after year listening to an anti-American racist pastor. Palin - one Sunday in church listening to an invited guest. A guest by the way who was interesting is saving souls - not condemning “whitey”.
September 3rd, 2008 at 12:53 pm
Ziggy dog shit, spouts more lies… the biggest lie, was the lead off: “She supported the Bridge to Nowhere.”
No, she killed it, Ziggy. You dumb, pile of crap.
September 3rd, 2008 at 1:05 pm
According to her states newspaper The Anchorage Daily News,
http://www.adn.com/sarahpalin/story/511471.html
The Alaska governor campaigned in 2006 on a build-the-bridge platform, telling Ketchikan residents she felt their pain when politicians called them “nowhere.” They’re still feeling pain today in Ketchikan, over Palin’s subsequent decision to use the bridge funds for other projects — and over the timing of her announcement, which they say came in a pre-dawn press release that seemed aimed at national news deadlines.
“I think that’s when the campaign for national office began,” said Ketchikan Mayor Bob Weinstein on Saturday.
So she was for it before she was against?
How about some quotes?
“We need to come to the defense of Southeast Alaska when proposals are on the table like the bridge, and not allow the spinmeisters to turn this project or any other into something that’s so negative,” Palin said in August 2006, according to the Ketchikan Daily News.
The Anchorage Daily News quoted her in October 2006 as saying she would continue state funding for the bridge. “The window is now, while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist,” she said.
Unlike McCain and ChinNuts, I can do basic research. We(Dems) got plenty on her that apparently you all will try to spin as being sexist when its really corruption and abusive.
Speak some more.
September 3rd, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Once against Chestnut is handed his ass.
September 3rd, 2008 at 1:29 pm
I read it and it clearly says she killed it. In fact Ketchikan Mayor Bob Weinstein is clearly angry that she killed it. Stupid liberals…
September 3rd, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Michael Brodkorb is as big a joke as Sarah Palin. Sorry, Mikey, but your endorsement of this joke makes yourself one too. I thought you were smarter than that. But then again, Republicans have always put winning elections ahead of the good of the country.

We’re not so stupid. You and the other phoney conservatives are telling half the story. She campaigned for it while running for governor. She got elected as a supporter of the Bridge to Nowhere. I repeat, she got elected as a supporter of the Bridge to Nowhere.
September 3rd, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Audacity, spin all you want. But, Reality Check clearly states:
“ST. PAUL (WCCO) ― John McCain chose Gov. Sarah Palin in part because of her maverick status in Alaska, including her willingness to oppose earmarks, but Palin worked the system as well as anyone when she was a mayor AND a governor.
“I didn’t get into government to do the safe and easy things,” Palin said.
It’s TRUE. Palin requested $198 million in earmarks for Alaska in next year’s federal budget, which includes $25 million for Coastal Salmon Recovery and $3.2 million for sea lion biological research.
As a mayor, Palin also struck Yukon gold in Washington.
IN FACT, according to the watchdog group Taxpayers for Common Sense, Palin hired a Washington lobbyist to secure earmarks for tiny Wasilla, Alaska when she was mayor. The town of 6,715 received nearly $27 million in federal dollars from 2000 to 2003. That includes $1.9 million for public transit and $15 million for a rail line connecting Wasilla to the hometown of Alaska Senator Ted Stevens.
And there’s MORE. Palin gained fame, and notoriety, for taking on the Republican establishment, opposing in Alaska the infamous bridge to nowhere — a symbol of wasteful Washington spending.
But when she was running for governor in 2006, she supported it. “
Rest of story, here
“Facts are stupid things.”
Uncle Ronnie said it; Audacity, rePete, Walter, and Chestnut live it.
September 3rd, 2008 at 2:21 pm
McCain actually attacked Palin for all of her efforts to nab earmarks:

Pat Kessler clearly knows all, sees all, understands all, and is the unimpeachable arbitor of The Truth.
Why are we not electing him and/or erecting temples to worship him? I mean, we are talking about the (sometime) second ranked news broadcast in the fifteenth largest market in the country!

PlymouthDem,
When did “vetting” become synonymous with “passes muster with crackpot left-wing commenters”.
September 3rd, 2008 at 2:36 pm
What?!?!
The conservatives at Politico, WCCO, ADN, and the L.A. Times didn’t get a say in the VP selection process? I am shocked.

“When did “vetting” become synonymous with “passes muster with crackpot left-wing commenters”.”
About the same time McCain’s gamble on his VP starting paying off big time… except, for the wrong party.
Either McCain is dumb for introducing this much controversy into the race, or, he can’t vet which doesn’t speak volumes for his ability to build a cabinet around him.
September 3rd, 2008 at 3:08 pm
I look for results. She killed the bridge and that is what matters. Unlike Obama who can’t admit he was wrong on the troop surge she is willing to evaluate her position and do what is right.

First Pete, you’re noting a distinct difference in what you wrote and what ChinNuts wrote.
You do know that the bridge wasn’t killed don’t you? Those funds were used for other programs. I know not the point.
So if its OK to change one’s mind without being a flipflopper, how can Barack Obama be criticized for accepting a compromise on a comprehensive energy plan that now includes drilling?
He’d also like all of the oil drilled in America, to be sold only to Americans. Yet Republicans are against that. You know who isn’t against that? Yep, the well-vetted Sara Palin. Alaska would die if the natural resources were sold off to the highest bidder without anyone money set aside for her state. She also admitted to liking Obama’s plan for natural gas.
September 3rd, 2008 at 3:26 pm
“Pat Kessler clearly knows all, sees all, understands all, and is the unimpeachable arbitor of The Truth.”
Well, according to Michael, in a post….wait - scratch that; that post was rippin’ Franken.
republiCons only trust “Fact Check” when “Fact Check” works their way.
“Fact Check” catches Franken, “HALLELUJAH!!!” sing the GOPer Faithful; “Fact Check” catches a GOPer, “Can’t trust the librul EmEssEm!!!” hiss the bootlickers.
Which is only but one reason why GOP now stands for GreedOverPrinciples.
September 3rd, 2008 at 4:06 pm
After a segment with NBC’s Chuck Todd ended today, Republican consultant Mike Murphy and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan were caught on a live mike ridiculing the choice of Sarah Palin.
“It’s over,” said Noonan, and then responded to a question of whether Palin is the most qualified Republican woman McCain could have chosen.
“The most qualified? No. I think they went for this — excuse me — political bullsh** about narratives,” she said. “Every time Republicans do that — because that’s not where they live and it’s not what they’re good at — they blow it.”
Murphy chimed in:
“The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical.”

I thought you’d admire it, Audacity - I learned the technique from Gingrich. Hell, even Dumbya figured it out:

Palin has pulled together the base for McCain and MSM/Left-wing shit4brains are sending it into overdrive.
When you think about it, is that what you really want to do, provide something to energize your opponents base. Stupidity yes, Smart Politics No.
Palin and the Foam-at-the-mouth reaction is doing more to help McCain than anybody else would. When Obama has to argue he has more experience than Palin, you are in trouble. What the hell has Obama ever done? Name it?????
After McCain wins, the winners will point to Palin, and the losers to everyone else but themselves.
September 3rd, 2008 at 4:24 pm
rePete, that’s NOT what he’s saying; maybe the nice Play Ground Lady will explain it to you during your next recess.
September 3rd, 2008 at 4:30 pm
There’s only one slight problem with your analysis, Jeffrey - the base (for either party) isn’t enough to win. And the undecideds aren’t gonna like Governor Moose Meat’s appetite for pork.
September 3rd, 2008 at 4:32 pm

You do realize, party aside, that Obama would fail the same vetting standards that you claim should have been applied to Palin?

“Anchorage Daily News is the paper of record in Alaska”
So that means … you punt, I guess? I read what they chose to put on their editorial pages, and I think I can make my own judgment regarding their “liberal rag” status, thanks.
Please do some more “research”. The one about “she pretended to have a baby, but it’s actually her daughters child” was really funny. *cough*
September 3rd, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Troy,
I used that paper to research old interviews and quotes from Palin. its part of the vetting process. The point about the bridge to nowhere is that she is NOT against earmarks or pork- you know the maverick thing? She took that money and distributed it to other programs.
About the baby and grandchild and being home, I don’t give a crap. Its not my business or yours- you brought it up now put it back.
My opposition lies in her actions in the public roles that she has had- which may give an indication of how she will act a 72 year old heartbeat away.
Surely,
Obama has gone through this- and his wife. They talked to every associate the two of them had for years. They went back to a paper his WIFE wrote in school and even found that he wrote something about being President in third grade. Obama went through hell for his church attended and a person he sat on a board with.
Do we know about Sara’s pastor. Is it front page news? What about her husbands politics? Is he anti-American? What about her college papers? Who are her fundraisers?
it certainly has been a double standard but, we don’t have to go there with Sara Palin. Thanks the excellent judgement by John McCain, we have a candidate who has left a public trail of information from her positions representing the people.
Thank you John.

September 3rd, 2008 at 8:15 pm
Troy,
Consider it admission by omission. I am a partisan that’s not here to change minds.
However, when discussing Sarah Palin, there is enough material from her public life that I don’t have to touch her personal problems.
In other words, this is one debate where i can kick your collective asses because you are trying to defend the indefensible.
Its too easy, for instance I will say Sarah Palin is a FLIP-FLOPPER.
Then ChinNuts will come on here an say ” Ziggy dogshit, you dumb and smell funny she no Philip Phlopper. Shut up shit brain! Me need food now.”
i would say something like:
She appears to oppose windfall taxes on oil companies at the national level but supported them to benefit her state.
She supported Obama’s energy plan, before she was against it.
She flip-flopped on the Bridge to Nowhere.
Then those of you aren’t totally deranged will be smacking yourselves in the forehead and cursing McCain for once again screwing your party.
Gotta go, Romney is on trying to prove that he would have been a better choice than Palin. Can’t wait for Rotten Rudy.

We’re not even saying we don’t like pork- I think its a shame that that’s the only way to fund some of our infrastructure but, that’s another story. Point is, you got nothing and I’m going to bludgeon you with this VP choice.

You’re free to point out any bullshit that I have written on Palin. However, understand you’ll be stepping into an arena of policy and fact, you may want to do some homework first.

Troy: the problem with earmarks is that under GOPer “stewardship”, they were hidden.
The problem with Governor Moose Meat, is she was a big consumer of pork; submitting almost <a href=http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/gop_convention_spin_part_ii.html$198 MILLION in earmark requests for pork just this year.
So if she had an epiphany and sworn off pork, she’s done it recently.
But it’s not surprising; the problem with republiCons is not so much with what they say - it’s that they so often do the exact opposite of what they said they would.
September 5th, 2008 at 12:34 pm
…$198 MILLION…

Your problem, Tommy Johnson and DJZ, is that your solution to this “GOPer-Only Pork Problem” (*snicker*) seems to be “Elect Barack Obama”.
Consequently, I would not be surprised if you suggested “Arm Amputation” to solve the “Cut Finger” problem.
