If Pawlenty wants to run, Ramstad won’t be allowed to. Not by any existing rule or law, but by a republican party which does everything it can to eliminate choice for the voters, so as not to confuse them. That is why this year, Jack Shepard is your only alternative to do-nothing Norm. I have to believe there are plenty of republicans, real republicans, who would have like to have a different option on the ballot come Tuesday.

Tommy is correct – Gov. Pawlenty was the only GOP candidate to win statewide. Without Hatch and Dutcher’s meltdowns, it would have been a clean sweep for the DFL.

So, does the GOP recognize the writing on the wall, clean house, dump party leadership, and begin reaching out to those inclined to lean conservative?

Of course not.

If Ramstad doesn’t run, the GOP will be shut out in 2010.

But when Biden finally graduated… at the bottom of his law school class, and after nearly having been thrown out for plagiarism… he miraculously was rejected for having asthma.

Interesting that his asthma never kept him from playing football, being a lifeguard or having a rough and active childhood…. Amazing he discovered his childhood asthma in 1968.

I agree. There is nothing to gain politically for a young, up-and-comer to do a cabinet post instead of remain Governor. That, and I think being a Governor would be a heck of a lot more fun.

I don’t think any of the names you mentioned above make a dent on Pawlenty. Kelliher is the only one who has good name recognition, and I frankly think she will turn people off once they hear her on the stump. She has a style that doesn’t sit well — can’t put my finger on it.

I will say this — as a moderate, I’d like to see Pawlenty switch out Leutenants. Molnau is not the person I want in charge when T-Paw is nominated for the Presidency in 2012. That is when McCain will not see re-election because he has had such a productive 4-year term. I think a T-Paw, Geoff Michel ticket would go over well.
