COLEMAN FOR U.S. SENATE PRESS RELEASE: “COLEMAN INVITES INDEPENDENCE PARTY AND DFL PARTY CANDIDATES FOR U.S. SENATE TO COMMIT TO DEBATES AFTER PRIMARY”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 8, 2008

This press release was sent out on Friday afternoon.  The Star Tribune reported on Coleman’s proposal on Saturday.

###

ST. PAUL – United States Senator Norm Coleman today sent a letter to all Independence and DFL Party candidates for the United States Senate inviting them to commit to a series of debates after the September 9th Primary and prior to November 1, 2008.

Coleman, who has been insistent that Minnesotans should be able to view a substantive discussion of the issues during the campaign, called for four debates, and insisted that some of the debates occur in Greater Minnesota.

“I’m a firm believer in the quality of debates, and I believe the format and structure needs to emphasize an adequate opportunity to discuss and share views on the issues, and be able to challenge one another before Minnesotans,” said Senator Coleman. “That’s why I believe four debates provides for a unique and distinct opportunity for all of the candidates who come through the September Primary from the Independence Party and DFL Party to share their perspectives on the issues and the future of the country.”

Coleman said he is committed to debates occurring after the September Primary, and that his Senate voting duties will be a determinant in the scheduling of debates.

“Whether it’s voting, or needing to be involved in a debate about critical energy issues, such as our need to drill for more oil, rapidly expand the construction of nuclear power plants or aggressively pursuing even more wind and solar energy options, my first priority will remain fighting for Minnesota’s energy needs,” Coleman stated. “It’s important that these debates move forward, but, my first priority is and always has been my official duties for the people of Minnesota.  My voting schedule will be a determining factor in the scheduling of debates.”

Alternate Headline: Becoming desperate as his campaign slides from neutral into reverse, Coleman makes desperate plea for debate.

Is Coleman going to do the MPR debate on November 3, which Franken has agreed to?

Danno: How do you know that Franken has agreed to an MPR debate?

    Leroy:

It seems like coleman is going full speed ahead. He’s also showing that he’s willing to debate all the offical candidates.

Coleman’s INVITES, Coleman’s SCREENS, and Coleman’s TIMING, etc. is interesting.

It is somewhat similar to Sarah Palin saying that she put the Luxury Airliner on e-bay.

It was on e-bay for an extremely short time. It was sold by other means.

    El P,

If you did maybe 3 minutes of looking you woul dknow that the plane was listed TWICE. When it didn’t meet the reserve it was sold through a broker.

She never said it was sold on e-bay, she said she put it on e-bay.

By the way, still waiting for any proof about Norm’s physical that you keep spewing.

And how is you animal porn addiction coming?

Why does the DFL lways complain when Coleman commits himself to debates? This is a guy who got destroyed in just about every debate against Jesse Ventura.
