USA TODAY: “POLL: CONVENTION LIFTS MCCAIN OVER OBAMA”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 8, 2008

“WASHINGTON — The Republican National Convention has given John McCain and his party a significant boost, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken over the weekend shows, as running mate Sarah Palin helps close an ‘enthusiasm gap’ that has dogged the GOP all year.

McCain leads Democrat Barack Obama by 50%-46% among registered voters, the Republican’s biggest advantage since January and a turnaround from the USA TODAY poll taken just before the convention opened in St. Paul. Then, he lagged by 7 percentage points.” Source: USA Today, September 8, 2008

Let’s leave the presidential until Wed. Today, should be totally devoted to defeating Franken!

I think by Wednesday, plenty of people will have read about Governor Moose Meat’s hockey rink problems in The Wall Street Journal.

Governor Moose Meat really likes pork!

Four points? From Gallup? Among REGISTERED voters? That’s probably 15 points in any other poll of LIKELY voters. My faith in the intelligence of American voters is restored. Well, partly. When it gets to 70-30 McCain, I’ll believe we’re cured of our collective insanity.

  4. C.I.L.A Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 10:19 AM

Good point Tommy. What Palin should have done was become friends with Tony Rezko and have him give her the land for pennies on the dollar.

  5. Swiftee Says:

Nobama has seen the tail end of his bid for the White House. You can see defeat in his eyes already.

Porn-O-Rama has led with his “tail end” from the very beginning…we only hope he sticks around after Norm slaps him down long enough for us to deliver our well deserved guffaws.

Madia hasn’t got a chance and Sarvi is sputtering.

From what the rabid left guaranteed to be a GOP drubbing, rises the sanity and common sense of the American people.

  6. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 10:37 AM

    “…common sense…’

    COMMON SENSE??!?

This, from a guy that posted a link to full frontal male nudity, here on MDE??!?

    ROFLMAO!!!

The guy that posted a link to full frontal male nudity on MDE is talking about “common sense”!!!!

    Thanks for the laugh, Scrotee!!!

  7. Swiftee Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 10:52 AM

I’m happy to see that some Democrats can keep their sense of humor while their slate of candidates, national and state, receives the back hand of the common sense public!

McCain leads Democrat Barack Obama by 50%-46% SMACK!!

  8. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 10:58 AM

Scrotee, there’s a serious can o’ whupass that’s gonna be opened up on you republiCons.

You can ignore The Wall Street Journal talking about Palin’s incompetence, but their readers aren’t.

Then again, those that read The Wall Street Journal are a might bit smarter than you.

Well, most people are, but that’s a tangent….

  9. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 11:06 AM

    Oh, and C.I.L.A?

If Obama wanted a real deal on some real estate, he shoulda done what McCain did, and talk to Chucky Keating!

Not only coulda Obama gotten a SWEET! deal on his house, Keating coulda steered him into some shopping center stuff, just like Keating did for McCain!

  10. Swiftee Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 12:43 PM

I’m guessing that a serious can of anything would be immediately consumed when opened if you are anywhere in the vacinity, cheeto boy!

  11. Chestnut Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 1:21 PM

Yeah, the hockey arena’s going to be a real problem… LOL!…

    Especially this part:

“”At the time, with the information she had, [Ms. Palin] made the right decision,” Mr. Leonard said…”

    And this part:

“All I can say about the sports complex is that it was done on time and under budget,” said Donald Moore, a Palin ally who managed the construction. “It was done legally, and for someone else to say it could have been done differently in a better way, that’s strictly their opinion.”"

Keep throwing shit at the wall, Tommy. I’m sure something will stick eventually.

Your EEOC candidate’s record is going to get aired eventually. And in addition to everyone understanding that Obama has not accomplished anything of significance in his entire career, they’ll learn that he hasn’t taken any of his responsibilities all that seriously either.

His stint at the Harvard Law Review is notable for the lower standards Obama applied to the quality of submissions and the publication. It’s the least cited and least authoritative HLR since records are available.

And, it turns out, he was just a “token” candidate for that job too. In the context of great racial problems at Harvard, the HLR decided to send a message instead of appoint the best qualified person for the job.

Every other HLR EIC had the highest grade and rank in their class. To get Obama into the job, they changed the process for picking the EIC…. how convenient.

As a “community organizer” he’s got no real achievements to point to. As an Illinois legislature, he’s got no achievements to point to. As a U.S. Senator, he’s got no real achievements to point to.

    He’s a true EEOC candidate.

  12. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 2:20 PM

I think America’s free pass will end when Palin has to finally quit hiding from the press and answer some of these questions that are bubbling up over her apparently total inability to tell the truth.

I mean, what are women thinking of this pick now when she isn’t being allowed to campaign outside of McCain’s shadow? Really shows how much respect he has for her resume and her mental capacity to answer the softballs tossed up by the nation’s impotent media.

  13. Chestnut Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 2:39 PM

    Hey Leroy,
What lies? The only lies regarding Palin are coming from shit bag liberals like you.

Regarding talking to the press: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=5747205&page=1

  14. Pete Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 3:11 PM

I see Obama is now having second thoughts about rolling back the Bush tax cuts because of the harm it will do to the economy. Pretty soon you will see him showing a copy of the Republican Platform with Republican crossed out and NObama wrote in.

This dude is having a real hard time finding anything he stands for besides ‘change’.

Maybe next he wll find a way to change his mind on his VP pick and get Billary into the race.

  15. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 4:06 PM

    Palin Lies:

Her opposition to The Bridge To Nowhere
    Her opposition to earmarks
    Her opposition to Ted Stevens
Her support of special needs kids
Her statement that Obama has done nothing in the Senate
Her statement that Obama will raise taxes on everyone

That’s a pretty healthy list of lies for a person who has been running for the seat for less than a month.

  16. Pete Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 4:18 PM

What has Obama done in the Senate – where someone else wasn’t holding his hands or him jumping up and saying “me too mee too”?

Obama will raise taxes on everyone – unless of course he sticks with his new plan to not roll back the Bush tax cuts.

There is no bridge to nowhere. The money was allocated but not spent on a bridge.

She has clearly stated she does not support Ted Stevens.

You’re saying she doesn’t support her own child? God are you an idiot Leroy.

    She does oppose earmarks.

Obama has NEVER done anything. He has only been a tag along who benefited from political correctness.

Now Obama says he won’t roll back the Bush tax cuts because it could hurt the economy.

He has changed his mind about pulling all troops out of Iraq, he now supports Bush tax cuts, and he does not feel women are capable of being leaders.

Deal with it Leroy, the guy has decided that he can’t win by pullng a cut and run, raising taxes, or being a false Christian. Like most Democrats he will do and say anything to get elected, but like most Democrats who run for President he will lose.

Thank God people are not being fooled about is “change” line of bullshit.

  17. Chestnut Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 4:55 PM

“Her opposition to The Bridge To Nowhere”

    She killed it, finally.

    “Her opposition to earmarks”

    Not a lie

    “Her opposition to Ted Stevens”

She pressured him to “come clean.”

“Her support of special needs kids”

    Not a lie.

“Her statement that Obama has done nothing in the Senate”

Not a lie. He has done nothing.

“Her statement that Obama will raise taxes on everyone”

Not a lie. He will raise taxes on everyone.

  18. Chestnut Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 5:02 PM

“Her support of special needs kids”

Not a lie. Palin increased funding for special needs kids over 175 percent.

  19. FiercelyIndependent Says:

Chestnut, your link has a link to Education Week. Following that link, I found this:

    http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/speced/2008/09/gov_palins_budget_for_special_1.html

“More accurate information about Palin’s education record may be found at the newspapers in her state. The Anchorage Daily News, for example, ran a story in March about her approval of a large spending increase:

Gov. Sarah Palin has quietly signed into law the biggest rewrite of the state’s education funding system in a decade, despite hints that she might veto the package.
Palin had said last week the package was incomplete. Lawmakers responded with a threat to override any veto.

She signed the bill Thursday without ceremony, applauding lawmakers’ efforts in a news release.

The legislation phases in increases to per-pupil spending, increases to students with special needs and adjustments to cost factors that compensate school districts outside Anchorage for their steeper costs. It’s expected to add an extra $180 million to school districts over the next five years.

Therefore, it could be argued that the increase for Special Education was passed over Gov. Palin’s objections, and signed only because Gov. Palin didn’t want here veto overridden.

You hardly made your case. Care to try again?

  20. Chestnut Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 6:19 PM

“Therefore, it could be argued that the increase for Special Education was passed over Gov. Palin’s objections.”

No it can’t. She signed it into law. If she had any objections, they were because it wasn’t enough.

Do you care to try again, idiot.

  21. Chestnut Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 7:03 PM

… and if President Bush wanted even more tax cuts… and if congress passed a few, but not what Bush wanted, then I guess you could argue that Congress passed tax cuts over Bush’s objections.

    In other words, FiercelyIndependent… bullshit.

Or perhaps you can move to the 5th district here in Minnesota and challenge Keith?

  25. DantheMan Says:

With Obama’s rock star status and the way people tend to associate an economy with the sitting President, McCain should be behind by 10 points.

    He is ahead!

This is amazing. McCain and Palin are the new comeback kids!

perhaps the gov’t schools have yet not managed to dumb-down our whole population. some people can still recognize a sociopath when they see one.

  27. sd42webmaster Says:

McCain and Palin both have records of going against their party when they thought they were wrong. McCain and Palin both have records of working with Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.

Now I would like any of you supporters of the ObamaMessiah to name three examples of where your your guy either went against his party or reached across party lines.

Oh — and don’t bother peddling that junk about how he authored ethics legislations or worked on nuclear nonproliferation with Senator Lugar because both of those measures passed with unanimous consent (meaning they were so non-controversial that they didn’t even bother to have a vote).

    Come on — name three.

  28. Chestnut Says:
    September 8th, 2008 at 9:51 PM

“name three examples of where your your guy either went against his party or reached across party lines.”

    Hell, name one.
