COLEMAN FOR U.S. SENATE PRESS RELEASE: “COLEMAN FOR SENATE RELEASES ‘ANGRY AL’ CAMPAIGN AD”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 12, 2008
ST. PAUL – In a new ad released today, the Coleman for Senate campaign shows Minnesotans that “Angry Al†does not have the temperament to be a United State Senator. The ad features several video clips of Al Franken getting mad and launching into angry, expletive-laden tirades, behavior that would significantly undercut Al Franken’s ability to get anything done for Minnesota.
“Al Franken is incapable of controlling his anger or his temper. This ad is simply a reflection of his public life. When Al Franken gets mad, he can’t control himself,†said Cullen Sheehan, campaign manager. “You cannot accomplish anything by standing on the Senate floor and yelling at your opponents – or threatening them – or calling them names. The United States Senate is not a school yard playground where the bully gets his way. Al Franken’s the bully, and no matter what he says, he can’t control himself when he doesn’t get his way. This is who Al Franken is.â€
“Angry Al†can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/colemanforsenate. [I posted the video above]
“Angry Al†Script:
Senator Coleman: “I’m Norm Coleman and I approved this message because I thought it was important for you to see it.â€

it’s about time norm started exposing franken. adding this to franken’s anti-feminism, anti-catholic, anti-employee rhetoric should about finish him off.
September 12th, 2008 at 3:52 PM
Al Franken – the peddler of hate – aka the Hatemonger – my schnauzer is tougher then that pathetic rep for the DFLoser party.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:01 PM
nothing more effective than a politician’s own words, regardless of party.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:02 PM
“I’m Norm Coleman and I approved this message…”
And Dean Barkely appreciates your message, Norm!
Poor ol’ Smokescreen – beaten by Jesse; now doomed to be beaten by Barkley, if not Franken.
Norm doesn’t do well in a three horse race.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:04 PM
And once again, Normie proves that he doesn’t have a record to run on, so he will remain hunkered down in the mud, hoping that the voters won’t notice his staggering incompetence.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:04 PM
as cheech and chong would say, dream on…..
September 12th, 2008 at 4:06 PM
Hey, Leroy – ol’ Smokescreen’s gotta pay extra for that commercial, now that he’s an Ad Cheat.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:15 PM
Poor ol’ Smokescreen – beaten by Jesse; now doomed to be beaten by Barkley, if not Franken.
You should ask to be paid in cash instead of crack. Obviously they’re not giving you very good stuff.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:18 PM
I thought the big story of the day was how Norm Coleman was going to have to forfeit thousands of dollars because his attack ad is illegal? What gives?
September 12th, 2008 at 4:24 PM
Here’s one:
I’m Norman Coleman, I FAILED MY NEW YORK DRAFT PHYSICAL, and I thought that it was IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO SEE IT.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:30 PM
talk about technicalities. norm had one ad which had 2.9 seconds of id time–s/b 4.0 seconds. this of course was noted properly by franken and being the lib franken is felt that norm should now pay the regular advertising rate for all future ads which would then amount to $1MM+.
the ad messages were not illegal, just the technicality.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:35 PM
I agree ansel, Franken’s complaint is complete bullshit. It illustrates the fact that Al Franken has nothing positive to say and no vision for the future. He’s got no record to run on, just a record of peddling hate to run from.
As such, he’s going remain hunkered down in the mud, hoping that the voters won’t notice his staggering incompetence.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:40 PM
Say, LP?
How many deferrments did Greasy Joe Biden receive before he failed his physical?
I’m thinking it was five (5=2+3; 10-5; 25/5 2*2.5)…do I have that right?
Too bad he was unavailable to dodge RPG’s with you, eh?
September 12th, 2008 at 4:45 PM
This…race…is…over. Go back to NYC, Al, and don’t let the door hit you on the [bleep]en [bleep] on the way out.
September 12th, 2008 at 5:10 PM
Al’s got exactly the right temperment for the job he currently holds.
September 12th, 2008 at 5:16 PM
Coleman’s growing a spin. Right on! Right on! Right on!
Now all he has to do is fight for off-shore drilling. Drill now, Norm!
September 12th, 2008 at 5:17 PM
Correction – one letter can make quite a difference.
Coleman’s growing a spine. Right on! Right on! Right on!
Now all he has to do is fight for off-shore drilling. Drill now, Norm!
September 12th, 2008 at 5:25 PM
Swiftee,
Dole-Kemp was quite a pairing in the 1996 Presidential Campaign.
Bob Dole lost the use of his arm in the military in WWII.
Jack Kemp failed his draft physical because of his knee but, went on to play professional football.
Dick Cheney and Joe Biden had five deferments.
Dick Cheney went on to “other priorities” meaning that he got his wife pregnant and therefore made himself exempt.
Joe Biden had asthma.
Anti-war protester NorMAN ColeMAN was too skinny.
September 12th, 2008 at 5:35 PM
Cha ching as good as a $1,000,000 donation to the Barkley campaign. Franken is not electable because he’s an ass, Coleman is stupid for thinking he’s the only one that could expose this. Pawlenty didn’t do this ad against Hatch.
September 12th, 2008 at 6:19 PM
It was many years ago- 96,97,98 I was driving in the am listening to KQRS and Tommy B and the gang interviews the local kid who made it big Al Fraken. Fraken was so pompas that Tommy B just hung up on him about 5 minutes into it. If some one could go through KQRS’s archives and find it they could show Mn what Fraken really thinks of the small-time-not-NY-city state.
September 12th, 2008 at 6:27 PM
Correction el p.
Joe Biden all of a sudden “discovered” he had asthma… asthma that never affected his rambunctious childhood playing football and playing lifeguard.
He’s a fucking phony, like every other Democrat.
September 12th, 2008 at 9:29 PM
NorMAN ColeMAN was too skinny.
So what? I dare Angry Al to make that an issue and run commercials on it. I double dare him. Just like people laugh at you when you make this idiotic comment, even DFL’ers would run away laughing their back ends off with that one. Jeez you’re stupid.
September 12th, 2008 at 10:07 PM
This will not be a close election. I’m expecting Coleman to do in the neighborhood of the 58.1 percent that Klobuchar got in 2006. The real question might be, will Coleman join the only 5 Minnesotans in history to top 60 percent in a Senate race (Durenberger, Humphrey, McCarthy, Lundeen, Shipstead).
September 12th, 2008 at 10:40 PM
I think Al may have to drop out. This ad is devastating. Who in the DFL can possibly defend this stuff. Wait until the Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club scandal gets fully exposed. The only thing keeping him in is the money he showers upon the DFL and the operatives. SAD.
Like I said, two more weeks and Lord Faris would have taken him out.
September 12th, 2008 at 10:43 PM
now that the ad has hit many of the major blogs–i.e. powerline, american thinker–i would think the mainstream dems (if there are any left) would run as far away from franken as possible.
and we still have the debates coming.
September 12th, 2008 at 11:15 PM
ansel said: “the ad messages were not illegal, just the technicality.
Proving, once again: Coleman broke the law.
Add that to RentGate and UtilityGate, and it’s no wonder ol’ Smokescreen is listed as one of the “Most Corrupt Members Of Congress.”
Here’s what really pisses you bootlickers off – even if Norm wins, you know deep in your hearts he’s just a (cheney)in’ RINO.
September 12th, 2008 at 11:21 PM
How exactly is Coleman going to answer the question, so, you don’t think McCain should be in the Senate (or the Whitehouse) because he yells and screams?
This ad just makes me want to vote for Franken. Personally, I want someone who’s going to fight for Minnesota.
September 12th, 2008 at 11:34 PM
Add that to RentGate and UtilityGate, and any of a dozen other trumped up, false and unsubstantiated claims Tommy levels, and it’s no wonder Tommy Johnson isone of the “Most Dishonest Individuals Alive.”
Here’s what really pisses off fascists like Tommy — Obama is choking. He’s behind in every major poll. The odds makers have turned and now favor McCain to win. The gaffe machine, Joe Biden continues cranking out new comedy.
And new the ObaMessiah has issued a disgusting attack add making fun of the disability John McCain sustained through the relentless beatings he received as a P.O.W.
The bloom is off the rose. And now all the congressional races are tightening up as well. The country has woken up to the sham that the Democrats — who have mismanaged Congress for the past 20 months — have foisted on the nation.
Good times!
September 12th, 2008 at 11:41 PM
Really? The Vietnameese beat the ability to comprehend a computer right out of Mccain?
That is an amazing story. Even for you.
September 12th, 2008 at 11:52 PM
He comprehends computers just fine, dip shit. But he’s physically unable to use a keyboard — thanks to the injuries he sustained being beaten by the little V.C. bastards that you and your asshole liberal buddies were supporting from the safety of your parent’s living rooms.
September 13th, 2008 at 12:03 AM
I guess I do welcome the fact that we’re getting to understand that Obama is a phony, unaccomplished stuffed suit. But he’s also a choke-artist and an asshole as well.
September 13th, 2008 at 5:50 AM
So, when Mccain couldn’t remember how many houses he owned, it wasn’t a “senior moment” but rather it was likely caused by post traumatic stress disorder gained during his years of valiant service to the country.
And when he went on national television the other day and lied about his running mate’s position on earmarks, that wasn’t a calculated effort to decieve the country for his own personal gain, but rather, a predictable side-effect of his years of torture at the hands of the Vietnameese.
That is the true beauty of John Mccain. No matter how bad he screws up, as long as he wraps himself in a flag and mentions his time as a POW, no one will ever be able to honestly and openly question him without being called unpatriotic.
September 13th, 2008 at 7:36 AM
That is the true beauty of John Mccain. No matter how bad he screws up, as long as he wraps himself in a flag and mentions his time as a POW, no one will ever be able to honestly and openly question him without being called unpatriotic.
Just when I think you’ve gone as low as you can go you dig yourself deeper.
You are a pathetic excuse for canine life. Actually, lower than a dog. How you look at yourself in the mirror in the morning after eating from your dog bowl is beyond me.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:03 AM
Fabricate as much bullshit as you want, Roy. Obama is running an ad making fun of his disability.
Obama is an asshole. You’re just a dishonest jerk.
On the otherhand:
That is the true beauty of Barak Obama. No matter how bad he screws up, as long as he surrounds himself with race-baiters and bigots and mentions that he’s part black, no one will ever be able to honestly and openly question him without being called racist.
Fuck you Roy.
September 13th, 2008 at 8:41 AM
So, Chestnut – when Franken runs the TV ad picturing ol’ Smokescreen with “Dollar” Bill Jefferson, you’re gonna jump up, write Norm a check, and then go doorknock a coupla hundred, “right”?
September 13th, 2008 at 9:12 AM
Exactly. Once again, you have proven my point.
The job of president is kind of a big deal. I’m not mocking Mccains disabilities. I’m simply pointing them out and asking if it is too much to ask to have our next president be able to comprehend and/or utilize someting as basic as the Internet.
Chestnut loves to call Obama the EEOC candidate, implying that he is somehow inferior to other candidates. I feel the same way about a guy too old and/or battle scarred to use a computer. I think it makes him an inferior candidate, but unlike Chestnut, my argument holds water.
September 13th, 2008 at 11:31 AM
Just curious. Did the Obama campaign focus group test its ad on seniors? This may play well in Chicago and Detroit, but what about the millions of seniors who dont use the internet? What are they going to think of Obama calling them dumb?
September 13th, 2008 at 11:57 AM
What about the millions of us who have managed to figure it out, and see his fear of the Internet as a real scary sign?
September 13th, 2008 at 12:00 PM
“I’m not mocking Mccains disabilities. I’m simply pointing them out and asking if it is too much to ask to have our next president be able to comprehend and/or utilize someting as basic as the Internet.”
Hey dip shit, McCain comprehends and can use the Internet. In fact, his campaign in 2000 was acclaimed for breaking ground in the use of the Interent as a campaign tool. He’s been using e-mail for over a decade, and using the internet just fine.
You stupid piece of shit. Hell, maybe FDR should never have been president. Can’t we expect a president that can at least use is goddam legs?
You’re a real asshole Roy. A real asshole.
And I call Obama the EEOC candidate because he IS INFERIOR to all the other candidates.
September 13th, 2008 at 12:14 PM
Leroy is an agist, racist asshole. He supports Barak Obama because he’s black, and hates John McCain because he’s old.
I call Barak Obama the EEOC candidate because his life experiences have not prepared him for the oval office, because his judgment is routinely and badly flawed. I call him the EEOC candidate because Democrats, like Leroy, selected him because he dances well, gives a pretty speach and is black.
I believe Barak is an inferior candidate because he has never actually succeeded at accomplishing anything that he says he has accomplished. He is phony. He is a liar. And he is a jackass.
Leroy wants to make fun of John McCain’s disability. But my arguments against the fraud Obama hold water.
September 13th, 2008 at 12:16 PM
“What about the millions of us who have managed to figure it out, and see his fear of the Internet as a real scary sign?”
You’re a goddam liar, Roy. A piece of shit liar.
September 13th, 2008 at 1:25 PM
Leroy, McCain can not type on a keyboard due to injuries that he received while under the “care” of his N Vietnam captors.
He can comprehend how to use the internet and uses email (his wife or someone else types) just fine.
September 13th, 2008 at 1:28 PM
You’re a cum belching road whore, Chestnut. A Goddamned cum belching road whore.
Not that that added anything to the debate, but I wanted to point out how silly you sound when you are systematically backed into a corner by the truth, and must revert to profanity and lies in a failed attempt to work your way out.
John McCain has said on several occasions that he is computer illiterate. This isn’t breaking news. It is fact. His campaign web guy even once was quoted as saying that John Mccain is “aware” of the internet.
How can we expect a guy who doesn’t understand the internet to comprehend the role of electronic data transfer in the modern economy? Maybe Ted Stevens should be brought in to explain how the system of tubes actually works…
September 13th, 2008 at 1:36 PM
Speaking of systematically getting backed into the corner by the truth, you piece of shit:
This excerpt from a 2000 Forbes article about McCain’s pioneering web-based campaign is noteworthy:
In certain ways, McCain was a natural Web candidate. Chairman of the Senate Telecommunications Subcommittee and regarded as the U.S. Senate’s savviest technologist, McCain is an inveterate devotee of email. His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. “She’s a whiz on the keyboard, and I’m so laborious,” McCain admits.
Yeah, he’s real afraid of the Internet. Yeah, he’s soooo computer illiterate.
You lying sack of shit.
September 13th, 2008 at 1:41 PM
And it’s more than ridiculous for a son of a bitch like Barak Obama to accuse a man trained and comfortable with high-tech avionics of being uncomfortable with technology.
Give me a fucking break you classless, dishonest pile of shit.
September 13th, 2008 at 1:46 PM
Not to mention, this coming from a shit-bag candidate who can’t manage to successfully send a text message announcing his vice president.
September 13th, 2008 at 1:59 PM
Michael, Leroy’s post number 43 is pushing this website into the porn-o-rama world of Al Franken. I respectfully request that his post be removed and if he goes this far again that he be banned from posting.
September 13th, 2008 at 2:18 PM
Yeah, Roy, the racist, ageist jerk is right, McCain is afraid of technology. Oh wait, NO HE’S NOT:
http://www.balloon-juice.com/managed-images/mccainblackberryphone.jpg
And this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/30/campaign-manager-mccain-l_n_109954.html?page=2
It may be true the John McCain doesn’t send much e-mail. But it’s worse, and more true that Barak Obama has no foreign policy experience, he has no experience reaching compromise or working in a bipartisan manner, and he has never accomplished anything of significance in his entire life.
Again, the idea that John McCain is adverse to technology or the Internet is a flat fucking lie. If this is the best that the flailing Obama campaign can muster, then it’s no wonder that his campaign is fading.
September 13th, 2008 at 2:45 PM
None of you republican hypocrites have been able to answer why it’s not okay to have an “Angry” senator Franken but it’s okay to promote an “Angry” senator McCain to president.
September 13th, 2008 at 3:11 PM
So, was he lying when he described himself as computer illiterate, or is he lying now?
Seems like a pretty clear flip-flop to me.
September 13th, 2008 at 5:18 PM
“None of you republican hypocrites have been able to answer why it’s not okay to have an “Angry†senator Franken but it’s okay to promote an “Angry†senator McCain to president.”
What the hell are you talking about? There are about 400 hours of audio and video of Al Franken blowing up, screaming at people, swearing and acting like a complete jackass.
What do you have on John McCain’s temperament, other than second-hand innuendo? Further more, if you have it, who has ever said you can’t use it?
That’s a pretty pathetic straw man PD. Absolutely pathetic.
September 13th, 2008 at 5:22 PM
And Leroy, McCain has never described himself as “computer illiterate” … you lying piece of shit.
In the context of a conversation about his use of the Internet, he said he was getting “more literate”… but why would a disabled veteran who can’t use a keyboard be wasting his time surfing the Web? …
You’re a lying pile of shit, Roy. A real piece of shit.
September 13th, 2008 at 5:26 PM
Of course, Obama’s lies about John McCain and his disrespect for disabled Veterans is apparently a common feature of his worthless, over-hyped, dishonest campaign. Joe Biden, plagiarist, asked a disabled paraplegic veteran to stand up the other day.
It’s good to see these two clowns now in second place. They’re behind in all the national polls, and now are behind in the electoral count as well.
America has finally realized what a couple of incompetent, lying assholes are riding the top of the Democrat ticket. And it’s affecting the congressional races too.
As Tommy would say, your small tent is getting smaller. Jerks like Tommy and Roy are “the base”… And America is running from your corruption, dishonesty and laziness.
September 13th, 2008 at 6:11 PM
Stay classy, Democrats!
September 13th, 2008 at 6:16 PM
for us norm supporters, don’t get too overconfident; latests survey usa poll essentially has the poll tied.
September 13th, 2008 at 6:25 PM
Looks like Barkley pulled a lot of votes away from Coleman. Franken’s support has barely budged.
September 13th, 2008 at 6:28 PM
chestnut, yes that is true. that is probably a peak for barkely because of the publicity of the primary. i did not think he would draw more than 5-10% so hopefully his # decline and norm’s goes back up.
i agree franken does not increase, but then we could have a 1992 where clinton won because perot drew so many votes off of bush, sr.
September 13th, 2008 at 7:27 PM
P.D.- “Have been able to answer why it`s not o.k. to have angry Al but it`s o.k.to have angry McCain.” Let me give it a shot- “Angry McCain will direct his anger at terrorists, while “angry Al” will direct his at, well, women and seniors. How `s that?

McCain can’t use a keyboard because of the torture he endured as a POW. He doesn’t have to, his wife or a staffer can type for him. His disability in no way means that he doesn’t understand the technology.
NY’s Govenor doesn’t drive a car either (He’s blind) does that mean he doesn’t understand cars?
Wouldn’t an ad saying that be seen as offensive?
September 13th, 2008 at 9:36 PM
the diffence between angry al and angry mccain is al demonstrates his anger in public–can one imagine what his anger must be like in private?
September 13th, 2008 at 9:44 PM
You bet Jay. It’s not just that he doesn’t understand cars, he can’t comprehend them and is afraid of cars.
In addition to its patent dishonesty, the Obama ad is disgusting and offensive in every way.
September 13th, 2008 at 9:59 PM
Hey, as long has he’s making fun of disabled Vietnam War veterans, I wonder if Obama’s next ad will mock Max Cleland because he “can’t” send e-mails.
Of course, the big difference is that John McCain’s injuries weren’t self-inflicted.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:07 AM
C’mon Chestnut,
Lipstick & Dipstick,
Lipstick & Buggy Whip,
Lipstick & Prune Dip,
These show some “contrasts,” take your pick.
McCain was born in Panama. Perhaps he could claim dual Panamanian-USA citizenship.
Obama had a Kenyan father. Perhaps he could claim dual British-USA citizenship. [I don't think Kenya allows for dual citizenship.]
Generally the United States does not recognize
dual. tripple, etc. citizenship although some other countries do.
Carol Shep, McCain’s first wife, was previously married and had two kids before McCain married her.
The chant “Drill Baby Drill” at the RNC.
This is going to be A VERY INTERESTING PRESIDENTIAL election.
Americans remember the 2000 Presidential election from EIGHT (8) YEARS ago, and perceptions differ greatly.
Use your noggin’ Chestnut.

The Bush administration is pushing through a broad array of foreign weapons deals as it seeks to rearm Iraq and Afghanistan, contain North Korea and Iran, and solidify ties with onetime Russian allies

September 14th, 2008 at 8:03 AM
“the diffence between angry al and angry mccain is al demonstrates his anger in public–can one imagine what his anger must be like in private?”
How is anger in committee meetings private? Yes, it’s closed doors, but, it’s not like he’s in the privacy of his own house.
Chestnut, you’re an idiot. McCain’s outbursts are well documented. Unless you want to call numerous senators, including republicans, flat out liars.
September 14th, 2008 at 9:28 AM
PD, please provide me with a link to any video or audio of any of McCain’s outbursts. I’m sure that this will be possible sincde they are “well documented”.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:09 PM
That’s fine PD, just fine. But LIKE I SAID:
Who has ever said you can’t use whatever it is you have on McCain’s temper? Answer: Nobody.
In fact, who, other than you, has said that that punch has been pulled? The fact that you ask the question demonstrates that you’ve heard about it.
The pathetic strawman I was talking about is your LIE that someone said you can’t talk about McCain’s temper. That assertion is cleraly false.
That’s a pretty pathetic straw man PD. Absolutely pathetic.
Almost as pathetic as throwing that strawman up in a conversation about Barak Obama’s disrespect of disabled veterans.
September 14th, 2008 at 1:03 PM
… and like I said, we have about 400 hours of video and audio footage of Al Franken swearing, shoving and insulting those who don’t agree with is communist view of the world.
In short, we have 400 hours of footage of Al Franken acting like a complete and total asshole.
You’ve got a few second-hand stories about McCain’s temper. So what.
September 14th, 2008 at 2:28 PM
Hmm..Last time I checked, Petulant Al was running against Norm Coleman..Not John McCain..
I’m thinking that some of ‘Al’s Greatest Hits’ caught some of you off guard…
Most of Al’s Righteous Anger is purely reactionary…He get’s caught out on some of his bullshit, can’t pawn it off as ‘Satire’, and reacts like a typical LiberaProgressDemocrat…he throws an unhinged hissy fit.
Who needs a record when you’re running against something like that??
September 14th, 2008 at 4:31 PM
You can’t expect Leroy to have any concept of morals or decemcy, he’s a liberal.
This is the guy that said a 4 month old baby should have a blood test to prove who his parents are purely for political purposes. He even equated it to franken being asked to release his taxes.
franken to release his tax records because of his history of tax problems = running blood tests on an infant because of an internet rumor.

“Who has ever said you can’t use whatever it is you have on McCain’s temper? Answer: Nobody.”
My point is that if Coleman thinks Franken is not qualified to be a senator because of his “temper” than Coleman must not think McCain is either qualified as a senator or, I would hope, as President. Since we know that isn’t the case, Coleman’s attack rings hollow.

MouthDem, you just make shit up as you go along, don’t you.
And sure, maybe Norm Coleman doesn’t think John McCain is fit to be Minnesota Senator.

OOOOOH, I get it, only MINNESOTA senators can’t get angry. Arizona senators that’s okay.

PD, show me the tape. All you got is second-hand innuendo… All you got is bullshit.
We’ve got about 400 hours of audio and video of Al Franken proving to the world what a complete asshole he is.

By your logic, Al Franken doesn’t think anyone accused of some level of corruption should be Senator. Why isn’t Al Franken running ads to defeat Barak Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, et. al.
You’re so stupid it’s nearly beyond words MouthDem.

Gee, I have a strong feeling alot of you people are going to be edited for really sick language skills.
Al Frankin is not going to come close to beating Norm. He’s a fly-over candidate, a has-been and full of hate and lies. The majority of people who identify with Franken will get lost on the way to vote.
