Paulsen's position on negotiating for cheaper prescription drugs and privatizing social security must be in the same place as his position on the Iraq War. When someone finds them, let me know.

... I'm guessing Chestnut's silence is his concession. No one can find a single quote from Paulsen himself indicating he supports negotiation and is now against privatizing social security.

"I think it’s pretty clear that Paulsen has taken a position. I disagree with him though."

How is it clear? Because he hasn't contradicted the MnGOP release? Where is there a single quote (written or spoken) that indicates that Paulsen is against privatization and for negotiating drug prices?

Hey Mouth,
I think it's pretty clear that Paulsen has taken a position. I disagree with him though.

Now would be a great time to end the lies that Paulen hasn't taken a position. It's dishonest and stupid.

Well, at least Chestnut and I both agree Paulsen should at least take A position whatever it is. I'm sure he won't though. He'll just let MnGOP determine his position for him, probably all in reaction to how the Senate race is going. What? Norm needs to run away from privatization of social security. Quick, release a press release also saying Paulsen doesn't support it either. We don't need to ask him, he'll go along.

Paulsen SHOULD support privatization. Moreover he should REJECT price fixing.

Social Security is a multi-generational rip-off through which payees receive back less than they pay in, delivers an awful return on investment for all parties and drains government resources and attention.

Price fixing will only eliminate key drugs from the menu of prescriptions available to medicade/medicare recipients, lower quality of healthcare and put bureaucrats in charge of what treatments are available.

It's a lose/lose proposition.

Somebody show me one statement by Paulsem where he ever said he does not support privatization or where he says the federal gov't should be allowed to negotiate prices. All there is is a press release from the GOP and Paulsen voting against negotiation in the past. He dodged both issues in the debate. Is the GOP and Michael now speaking for Paulsen?

He should at least need to state his position especially if he is going to dispatch others to say others are misrepresenting his position. These are simple yes or no questions that he has dodged.

If there are this many questions about Paulsen's positions, don't you think it behooves him to be the "decider" and clearly articulate the questioned positions?

Why is Eric Paulsen afraid to take a stand on ANYTHING? Could it be that he is far too conservative for the district, and he fears that if the voters learn his true stripes, that he will become this election cycle's Alan Fine?

Paulsen shouldn't have to issue a press release to clarify his position on social security because lying liberals like Ashwin and all the DCCC money that is turning this race negative should be able to argue on the issues WITHOUT splicing debate video to totally misrepresent his views. If Paulsen's view on social security was as simple as the video portrays, why did they need to splice it? He said social security was a "sacred trust" from the government to the people. This the crap Dems will have to throw at Paulsen to distract from their 30-year old ex-Republican, Bush voting, non-property owning, faux DFLer. Ashwin is showing he'll do anything and let his allies to anything to get him elected which proves he's nothing more than a typical DFLer.

"Whether it has been late-night push-polling, anonymous smear videos posted online, or the theft of Paulsen lawn signs, it clear that the negative campaign tactics in the 3rd CD are unprecedented."

Yeah, I'm a little curious, too, where this comes from. I sure haven't heard of any push-polls (not that anyone seems to have a goddamn clue what constitutes a "push-poll" anyway).

And Michael, see, that's the beauty of the internet. People can put up vaugue, accusatory bullshit posts like you do just as they can post videos on public sites. They can also raise money online, something the Democrats excel at but you goofy republicans can't seem to (which clearly irks you personally).

So that pretty much leaves your accusation of lawn sign stealing. Huh. Pretty horrible, isn't it? Yeah, last cycle all of my rebar, along with the signs they were attached to, went missing, but I didn't accuse the other side of tearing a black hole in the universe.

Let me guess . . . Paulsen internal has Madia up by three points. Am I close??? PLEASE tell me I'm close.

"Taking quotes from the CBO report will yield you any result you wish."

Bullshit. Rosenberg takes quotes out of a paragraph that talks about Medicare SETTING prices yielding a savings, and uses it to justify NEGOTIATING prices. He's a fucking liar and Madia is complicit in the lie.

Seems to me, if Paulsen's positions were not correctly stated, he would issue a press release saying so, not rely on Michael to write a release for the GOP to release on his site.

If Eric Paulsen feels he is being misrepresented, he should dust off a piece of his unused congressional letterhead, and go unequivocally on the record with his detailed positions and sign his name to it. But if he takes a position, he may offend a voter, so it appears he is trying to remain as far from details as possible.

The only thing currently detailed by Eric Paulsen is his car.

I'm still waiting for MBB to offer a shred of evidence linking push pulling and yard sign theft to Madia or any campaign.

The one accusation you made in the past was discredited. And, to date, the only confirmed instance of push pulling came from somewhere on the right against Madia.
http://minnesota.publicradio.org/collections/special/columns/polinaut/archive/2008/08/madia_and_pauls.shtml

I'm also eagerly awaiting the PAULSEN campaign to release a press release putting doubts to rest and annoucing his support for allowing the federal government to negotiate prices and his opposition to privatizing social security.

Call me crazy for not believing a cryptic GOP press release and an assurance by MBB when candidate Paulsen is completely silent on the issue.

I would disagree, MON, with you. Taking quotes from the CBO report will yield you any result you wish. If you read the 34 page report in it's entirety it does explain the process by which drugs are priced in the private sector and also give details on how substantial cost savings could be found.

Stuart Rosenberg makes this statement in the Madia Press release

"“pressure on drug manufacturers…could give the Secretary the ability to obtain significant discounts in negotiations with drug manufacturers.”

That quote has nothing to do with negotiating prices but with giving Medicare the authority to set prices. Read page 2 of the CBO letter, right before Stuarts quote.

Stuart Rosenberg is a God damned liar.

Sean sez: "where was I wrong about negotiating drug prices? "

At MNpuberty: "To argue that the ability to negotiate drug prices won’t save money is absurd on it’s face. "

but the CBO sez:

“Although cost savings might be possible in selective instances, the impact in Medicare’s overall drug spending would likely be limited”

In one of the documents that Madia's campaign uses to support it's statement

They can't even lie effectively.

Mike-- What are you talking about? Where did I lie about Paulsen's record? He never ruled out privatizing social security (and you obviously recognize this because you didn't mention a word of it in your 'response').

Ash Madia told the truth. Erik Paulsen never ruled out privatizing social security. He just said that he supported preserving Social Security-- and really, what does that mean? You're a paid Paulsen staffer, I'm sure you can find out for us. Does it mean that he does believe we should privatize social security, or that we shouldn't. It's a simple question, but one that you and your milquetoast candidate keep obfuscating on.

And finally, where was I wrong about negotiating drug prices? I wasn't, and the best you can offer up is this post a menagerie of bluster but poppycock all the same.

Your schtick has gotten old Mike-- it's a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, but signifying nothing.
