MN GOP PRESS RELEASE: “REPUBLICAN PARTY OF MINNESOTA CALLS ON ASHWIN MADIA TO RETURN CHARLIE RANGEL CONTRIBUTION AFTER SICK ATTACK ON SARAH PALIN AS ‘DISABLED’”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 22, 2008
St. Paul- Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Ron Carey today called on DFL congressional candidate Ashwin Madia to immediately renounce the demeaning comments of his political benefactor Charlie Rangel, and immediately return Rangel’s campaign contributions.
“Ashwin Madia persistently refuses to do the right thing and return the tainted campaign contributions he accepted from New York’s Charlie Rangel. Rangel has recently been under fire for alleged tax abuses and repeated violations of New York housing laws. To top that, Rangel recently sunk to a new low – referring to Governor Sarah Palin as ‘disabled.’ As an attorney, Madia should respect the law and give the nearly $50,000 he’s received from Rangel to charity. As someone who hopes to succeed Jim Ramstad, Madia should take a stand against Rangel and denounce his unscrupulous attacks against Sarah Palin.”
Madia Supporter Charlie Rangel: Palin Is “Disabled.” “Rep. Charlie Rangel, the longtime House Democrat already mired in possible ethics violations, is facing a new round of fire Saturday after describing Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin as ‘disabled.’ Interviewed by New York television station WCBS Friday evening, the powerful New York congressman was asked why Democrats appear ‘afraid’ of Palin. ‘You got to be kind to the disabled,’ Rangel, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, responded in an answer the reporter interviewing him later called ‘astonishing.’” (“Rangel Takes Heat For ‘Disabled’ Comment,” CNN Political Ticker, September 20, 2008)
Madia Campaign Spokesman: “The Way You Raise Money Is A Good Indication Of How You’ll Conduct Yourself In Congress.” “‘I do think there are people who will decide who to vote for in this race based on who is giving money to these candidates,’ Pollock said. ‘The way you raise money is a good indication of how you’ll conduct yourself in Congress.’” (Curtis Gilbert, “Madia And Paulsen Camps Trade Attacks Over ‘Dirty Money,’” MPR’s Polinaut Blog, September 15 , 2008, http://minnesota.publicradio.org/collections/special/columns/polinaut/archive/2008/09/madia_and_pauls_1.shtml?refid=0 )

Unbelievable.
Coleman takes dough from Abramoff, promises to donate it to charity or return it, never offers proof he did.
But republiCon Ron wants Madia to return dough from Rangel?

Ashwin Madia still isn’t talking about why he should be elected by me and the other voters of the 3rd. What are his values? Just who the hell is he and why would I spend my vote on a nobody? I need more to go on than he likes to run. I actually don’t run and find it to be a waste of time.
He likes to show the young voters he is hip with him and his cute little phone. But beyond that what has he done? What are his Core values? What religious believes does he hold if he has any at all? What exactly would he do for the 3rd in the US Congress? Will my taxes be raised? How much will a vote for Ashwin Madia cost me and my family?
Go ahead and answer my questions directly all of you Madia supporters? I think you are afraid to answer them because he is not the choice the 3rd wants and if you respond it will be to talk about something completely different since you have no answers beside Democrat talking points.
If he has received money from someone who he feels represents the values of the 3rd then by all means he should keep the money and solicit more. If he receives money from people or groups that don’t reflect the 3rd and their values then if he has an ethical responsibility to return it to make a statement to the voters and other unethical money peddlers who come knocking on his door.

quid…you’re rambling makes little sense. What you need to do is approach Madia and get to know him, not ask us why he’s such a great candidate. If you are basing your vote on 2 ads I question your due diligence. What has he done? 4 years in the Marines after law school including 6 months in Baghdad, Iraq (working with the American Generals, Iraqi officials, European Union to develop the Rule of Law…this is how we will get out of Iraq). He’s also worked pro bono for homeless people, disabled workers, immigrants to help solve their problems..I could go on, but hopefully you get the point. Religion has no place in politics, and he certainly wouldn’t impose his on you or anybody else. Core values…how about believeing that he would represent EVERYONE in the 3rd (Dem’s, Rep’s, Ind.’s, married, single, disabled, homeless, veterans, everyone..no matter your race, religion, ethnicity, and sexual preference. What more do you want…certainly not a mean spirited conservative that believes it’s a sin to be gay, that women who choose abortion (regardless the reason) should be considered criminals. He has stated that we need to balance the budget and actually has a plan to do it….start by going line by line and dime by dime and we don’t add new spending unless we can show what we’re already spending is unnecessary. If you make more than $250,000 a year I guess your sweetheart deal of a tax break will be gone, but if you’re like most of us, he believes we need a break. The cost to you and your family? How about becoming a part of the solution and becoming really involved in this process, so we can take our government and country back from the special interest and big money from Big Oil, Pharma, Insurance, and Banking….all of which support Paulsen. To really know him is to support him and realize our country needs more people like him in all our parties to help solve our problems. Nobody will work harder than Ashwin Madia. Friends of mine from both major parties as well as independents are unamimous in saying they have never seen a better candidate than him…Period! Sorry for being long winded, but you tripped my trigger.

Perhaps the issues in this election will be about lipsticks and dipsticks.
