Both Coleman and Franken are doing an exceptionally good job of convincing people that the other guy shouldn’t be trusted with 5 bucks, let alone a US Senate seat.
If this escalation of attacks continues, I have to assume that Barkley will win.

When I’ve gone door to door, the most frequent comment I get is “I hate both their attack ads. I want to hear how they’re going to get us out of this mess.” It’s true that Barkley will get more votes because of this and whether that will hurt Franken or Coleman worse is a question but it appears to be hurting Coleman more.
Reading through MDE postings, the vast majority are attack, not anything of substance. Tell us what the candidate is going to do/not do, but that might take too much effort.

Keep the ads coming! They are certainly helping Al in the polls. Can Michael even find a single poll now that this isn’t a statistical tie.
Way to go republicans erasing a 10-15 point lead all while your presidential candidate was surging. Now that McCain is tanking himself in the polls, I’m looking for more of these ads to Push Al over the top.

Have to run these out of Duluth, Hibbing, Grand Rapids and the other Range cities. Might not win in these areas but it will chip away at the DFL support up there.

This campaign is so pitiful that it isn’t even funny.
Al Franken has no business in the MN political scene and his candidacy should’ve never gotten this far.
Nobody is going to convince me that Al Franken is the best option the DFL had to unseat and relatively unpopular incumbent.
Moreover, Norm Coleman has accomplished next to nothing in his 6 years and having voted like a rubber stamp to continue excessively ridiculous amounts of government spending, he has no business asking for a second term on the job either.
Neither one of these bums have any legitimate vision for the economic security of our country and both have resorted to this childish “one-upsmanship” with their name-calling and finger pointing.
I am a conservative and I am not ashamed to tell anyone that I will not vote for Coleman.
Simply stated–he does not deserve it.
For all of you Franken apologists out there, go back and put your heads in the sand where you belong.
Franken for Senate?
Have a little self respect.
Either way, MN will endure another 6 years of someone embarrassing our state in the national spotlight.

Super Ad – really hits home and addresses
the “Al Franken Minnesota-Nice Syndrome” promoted by the left.
September 22nd, 2008 at 1:17 pm
I guess Norm’s response the the economic crisis is to run an attack ad on Al Franken.
Since this was his response to the housing crisis, the war in Iraq and raising fuel prices, what, exactly, are we supposed to guess he would do were we to elect him?

“Franken has no business…” Then why isn’t your candidate doing better in the polls? These adds reek of desperation. Thousands of our soldiers are dead and the Cons still haven’t bothered to catch bin Laden, and the Cons want to just hand a billion dollars to the incompetent CEOs of the financial industry. It’s time to get these anti-American thugs out of office. Yeah, Franken is angry. Anybody, who watched “cool and collected” Coleman and the Gang destroy our military, let the real terrorists get away, and turn a blind eye to Wall Street should be screaming obscenities. If there is any group who truly hate America it is the Republican party.

franken is all talk…this site has a commercial that really sends a clear message about him and a little insight to his personal “values”…

The ad claims “Franken writes about committing rape”. Where is that writing? Does anyone have a link to it?
It sounds to me as if the ad is claming Al Franken is a rapist.
Norm Coleman should request the Ad be pulled from the air.
Shameful.

S. Pam Philtre failed reading comprehension and logic. Stupid.

Where did Franken “write about committing rape”?
Just because someone shows the word “rape” typed on a piece of paper (and circled) does not mean Franken wrote it.
Where have I failed reading comprehension?
I asked for a link to prove the claims of the ad, can someone provide one?

Did he write the jokes about rape? Then he wrote about rape, you dumb shit. Or do you think that SNL WRITERS convey their WRITINGS via oral tradition?

Beyond that, ask the journalist who WROTE

Beyond that, ask the journalist who WROTE about Al Franken’s WRITINGS about raping Leslie Stahl.

Chestnut, calling people names may make you feel better, but it makes you appear to be a complete ass.
I haven’t said Franken never wrote any jokes involving rape. The ad says “Franken wrote about COMMITTING rape”. That is much different than saying Franken, in a brainstorming session, tossed out the idea of a well known public figure potentially drugging and raping another well known public figure.
I’m not saying that this was funny at all, but I can see how outrageous the bit seems, especially considering the persona Andy Rooney has had on 60 minutes.
If you want to consider everything a satirist has ever said in a setting where comedic bits are developed, in deciding who you’ll vote for, I’m fine with that. But to say in an ad that “Franken wrote about committing rape” , is beyond the pale.
If Coleman had anything positive to run on, he should put it out. How about letting the public know why he didn’t bother to look into the fraud occuring involving Iraqi reconstruction. Something people really care about.

S. Pam Philtre, are you this stupid naturally? Or do you practice with a squad?
“I haven’t said Franken never wrote any jokes involving rape. The ad says “Franken wrote about COMMITTING rapeâ€.”
And the difference between writing about committing rape and writing jokes about committing rape is … what, exactly.
Either way, you’re writing about committing rape, dumb shit.
“To say in an ad that “Franken wrote about committing rape†, is beyond the pale.”
Bullshit. It’s the truth. You want to quibble about it, that’s your business. Piss off.
September 23rd, 2008 at 12:00 pm
“The ad says “Franken wrote about COMMITTING rape.”"
Yes, the ad does say that. And in fact, Al Franken wrote about committing rape.
The ad does not say that “Al Franken wrote about the time he raped someone.” … that is absurd. And so is your ridiculous attempt and faux outrage.
September 23rd, 2008 at 2:36 pm
Just to make it a bit clearer. If the ad had said Franken wrote about a character committing rape, it would be clear who was the rapist. If you don’t say another person is doing the action, the impression is that the person is writing about something they personally have done.
For example saying: Chestnut wrote about oral sex, is much different than saying Chestnut wrote about sucking cocks.
The second example would lead people to believe that Chestnut was a cocksucker.
That wouldn’t be a fair characterization.

You’re just bitching to hear your self bitch about something. Quit your bitching.
The ad leaves no impression that Franken is a rapist, except maybe to a jackass like you looking for something to bitch about and feign outrage.
Cut the shit, dip stick.
