WASHINGTON TIMES: FRANKEN HELPED CRAFT PALIN INCEST JOKE FOR “SNL”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 25, 2008

Tony Blankley, columnist for the Washington Times, is claiming that Al Franken had a role in crafting the incest joke from “SNL” about Governor Sarah Palin’s husband:

“More appalling, NBC’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ suggested that Gov. Sarah Palin’s husband had sex with his own daughters. That scene was written with the assistance of Al Franken, Democratic Party candidate for Senate in Minnesota. Talk about incest.” Source: Washington Times, September 24, 2008

    BS METER CODE RED:

Tony Blankley baselessly asserted in his column that a Saturday Night Live sketch portraying a New York Times reporter who writes a story suggesting incest in the Palin family was “written with the assistance” of Al Franken. In fact, Franken reportedly had a role in the creation of a different SNL sketch.

You’re not even trying to get facts straight anymore, Brodkorb.

  2. Mark Peterson Says:
    September 25th, 2008 at 11:31 PM

Tony Blankley is a fat lying slob. Basically your typical republican. A lot of jokes could be made about him of the aforementioned nature. Michael…really??? You seem to be pretty smart, but yet you get so used by your republican friends. I kinda feel sorry for you.

  3. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 12:14 AM

I can not wait until Franken’s lawyers get done with that poor dumb bastard. Once they nail him to the wall, I would imagine attention would turn to those who republished the lie.

I wonder who that might be?

  4. MplsSteve Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 12:17 AM

I frankly feel sorry for retreads like Mark Peterson, Tommy Johnson and Leroy Jenkins who have little else going on in their lives but to come to this site.

Hell for all we know, Mark Peterson, Tommy Johnson and Leroy Jenkins are probably the same small and intellectual stunted individual.

Maybe someday they’ll all just go away (that’s likely to happen if their parents take their PC privileges away) and we’ll all be much better for their disappearance.

  5. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 12:39 AM

Just remember, MplsSteve, just because you are able to form silly opinions does not necessitate that you must share them with the rest of us.

  6. Greg Lang Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 4:47 AM

Leroy, I saw George Soros on C-Span recently. Soros said his investments were on the losing side this year. You might expect George Soros to be be more “judicious” with the $1500 monthly “stipends”.

If Angry Al tried to sue this reporter there would be two way discovery. Supposedly there were major disagreements at SNL on using this and dealing with Angry Al.

If push came to shove NBC would probably be willing to throw some SNL staff “under the bus” since the mainstream media still claimed that they do not engage in coordinated political campaign actions, abusing their broadcast license terms. I worked almost thirty years in high end computer work. Let’s just say there are a lot of “fingerprints” here.

Matt Drudge seems to follow angry Al’s campaign travail. Let’s hope Matt picks this up.

  7. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 6:17 AM

Oh, it was in The Moonie Times?

    Imagine that….

  8. jbenson2 Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 6:30 AM

    The original quote:
“More appalling, NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” suggested that Gov. Sarah Palin’s husband had sex with his own daughters. That scene was written with the assistance of Al Franken, Democratic Party candidate for Senate in Minnesota. Talk about incest.”

    Now consider the source:
The quote came from The Washington Times.

And the source for Aaron’s comment?
    Media Matters

  9. Average Joe Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 6:39 AM

If Angry Al tried to sue this reporter there would be two way discovery.

True, but then again you’re expecting liberals to tell the truth under oath. I have no confidence in their ability to ever tell the truth. And oaths mean nothing to them.

  10. Average Joe Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 6:40 AM

And the source for Aaron’s comment?
    Media Matters

Well, it’s every bit as good as their other impeccable sources: Huffington Post and Daily Kos.

  11. Greg Lang Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 7:25 AM

Average Joe Says:If Angry Al tried to sue this reporter there would be two way discovery.
True, but then again you’re expecting liberals to tell the truth under oath. I have no confidence in their ability to ever tell the truth. And oaths mean nothing to them.”

True but apparently the decision to do this was not universal at SNL. “Turning states” does not necessarily mean saying the “magic words” but it can involve cooperating and giving support information, even under “stealth”. The computers have a lot. The trick is trying to find where to look and what to look for.

As the old saying goes, it’s not the crime, it’s the cover up.

    This could be “fun”.

  12. surly Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 8:02 AM

“I can not wait until Franken’s lawyers get done with that poor dumb bastard.”

For a minute there I thought you were referring to Al’s accountant. You know, the one who was solely responsible for Al’s tax problems and was obviously guilty of malpractice? What a stand-up guy Al must be to let him slide on the damage he caused.

  13. bowhuntdude Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 8:35 AM

    Stay classy, Democrats!

  14. Chestnut Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 8:53 AM

Blakely is wrong that Franken wrote that particular skit, but not wrong that Franken had a role in one of SNL’s attacks on John McCain.

Even so, the underlying theme of the article is absolutely true. The press has thrown aside it’s journalistic integrity refusing to objectively cover and question on candidate, while leveling unprecedented, false attacks on the other.

The press is in the tank for Barak Obama. They are no longer journalists. They are propagandists air brushing the background of the least qualified and least prepared candidate for presidency in the history of this country.

Barak Obama, EEOC candidate will ascend to office, not for the quality of his ideas, not for the content of his character. He owes his position entirely to a blind media, peddling ignorance.

  15. jay Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 8:54 AM

I like Blankley but, he does need to cite a source here.

    SNL’s skit sounds completely tasteless.

  16. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 9:13 AM

“He owes his position entirely to a blind media, peddling ignorance.”

Drug Limpstick went deaf from drug abuse, not blind.

But he is a big fat idiot; that’s a fact.

  17. Chestnut Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 9:24 AM

What’s more pathetic is watching that lightweight wimp, Barak Obama, EEOC candidate whine on the rare occasion he is asked an objective question.

Or when Joe Biden describes FDR going on TV in 1929 and the news reader questioning him just plays along.

    Sick, stupid and pathetic.

  18. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 9:34 AM

Chestnut, the most pathetic lightweight wimp in politics today is Governor MooseMeat.

Charley Gibson tosses her a softball on The Bush Doctrine, and she’s bambi caught in the headlights.

And her performance with Couric was flatout embarassing.

Sure, you – bein’ base – love her, but she’s killing the ticket with independents and moderates.

And I hate to burst your bubble, pal, but:

You denizens of Planet Denial cannot win elections with only your base.

  19. D Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 9:34 AM

Ah yes. You liberal idiots think its fair game to attack Coleman for rumors of philandering (sorta funny, coming from the Party that holds Teddy Kennedy as a saint), but bark like dogs when there’s some rumor about Angry Al.

Nothing like having a double standard. Typical DFL.

  20. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 9:39 AM

    I don’t think that’s fair game.

His record is; what he does or does not do on his own time is his own business and nobody else’s.

Now, were Coleman to run on the “Family Values” platform, it would be different.

    But he’s not.

The only thing that’s fair game with Coleman is his wife’s business relationship that is required to be reported on Disclosure Forms.

Coleman’s wife claims she’s been in business for over four years with her hair drier thingy, which demands the question be answered:

Is she a shitty bidness woman and can’t turn a profit even after shilling her senatorial hubby on her website, or is she hiding dough in violation of Finance Disclosure Rules?

Norm should release tax records to shed light on this scandal.

  21. D Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 9:39 AM

I watched it too, Cheeto-boy. Gibson, in typical liberal elitist fashion, tried to trip her with a vague question. She responded by trying to clarify where the hell Gibson was going with the question.

This is the same lapdog liberal Media that are far more worried about having Osama Obama answer questions about his choice of neckties and what brand of underwear he buys.

Face it. Palin’s a whole lot smarter than to fall for Gibson’s trap.

  22. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 9:41 AM

The only thing that’s fair game with Coleman’s family is his wife’s business relationship that is required to be reported on Disclosure Forms.”

  23. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 9:42 AM

    Bullshit, D.

    Complete bullshit.

Then again, that’s what the GreedOverPrinciples party is known for.

She’s a pathetic lightweight that appeals to bozo’s like you.

  24. Mark Peterson Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 9:43 AM

Chestnut, why do you hate non-white America???

  25. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 9:48 AM

    D-

Have Norm’s philandering ways ever been discussed in the MSM?

No. Because unlike the Washington Times and this blog, well known rumors are not printed without some sort of factual backing.

  26. Chestnut Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 9:50 AM

“Because unlike the Washington Times and this blog, well known rumors are not printed without some sort of factual backing.”

    LMAO!!!

  27. Chestnut Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 10:02 AM

This week Barak Obama, EEOC candidate, illustrated again why he’s unfit for office.

Although, you can’t blame him for not wanting to go back to fulfill the legislative obligations of his current office. He’s only served as Senator for 100 days, and it’s been over 2 years since he had to act as Senator.

Worse, if he goes back to Washington now, he might have to vote other than “present” and voice a position on this matter before the Congress. Hell, he might have to voice a position on ANY issue of importance.

Funny how he thinks the Friday debate is necessary so he and McCain can be heard on the economy. Unfortunately, Barak Obama, EEOC candidate, is so fucking stupid he didn’t realize that the topic of the debate is foreign policy. (probably like the time he was too stupid to realize Russia has veto power on the UN Security Council, while he was recommending the UN Security Council pass a resolution against Russia).

Also kinda cute is how that stupid, chickenshit s.o.b. wants to debate now, after having been a coward all summer refusing to appear with McCain in real debates. … hell, Obama once challenged McCain to a debate, then chickened out when McCain accepted.

Barak Obama, stupid, chicken-shit, lightweight, EEOC candidate.

    Pathetic.

  28. D Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 10:03 AM

Vulgarities from Cheeto-boy means unconditional victory for me. Sweet.

Talk dirty to me, Big Daddy!

  29. Chestnut Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 10:09 AM

Barak Obama, he’s a dandy speech reader. But he’s an absolute dunce. Were it not for the socialists, terrorists and anti-American forces powering his political fortunes, Barak Obama would still be failing to organize communities.

  30. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 10:09 AM

    How dirty do you want?

    “dirty” dirty, or “Swiftee” dirty?

  31. Swiftee Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 10:16 AM

Gentlemen, I know it’s great fun to mock him, but before responding to him, consider who and what Tom “Cheeto boy” Johnson is.

A dim-witted, annoying, dumpy little punk with a big mouth that you would deal with in public by using the back of your hand.

He evidently sits in his mothers basement all day reading MDE and dreaming about male genitalia….leaving crushingly ignorant comments is what passes for his social life, so shunning this pathetic little twerp is the internet version of a bitch slap.

  32. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 10:21 AM

    “dim witted”?

I sure seem to skin your pelt, Scrotee.

BTW – why did you post that link to full frontal male nudity, Scrotee? Did you have a point to make, or do you just enjoy looking at points?

  33. Chestnut Says:

  35. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 10:26 AM

If Obama is a dullard who can only read the good speeches of others, why is John Mccain afraid to debate him. I mean, it is foreign policy, the area you consider to be his biggest weakness.

One would think this would be a slam dunk victory for Mccain. And yet now he wants to skip it, so he can hide out in the media-free bunker with Sarah Palin.

And don’t give me the BS about congressional work. Mccain could fly to Mississippi in the late afternoon, do the debate, and be back in DC before midnight if need be.

Or is it a time thing? I knew the AARP candidate is probably in bed by 8 each night. Maybe they should move the debate to 4:15, and have it at a Dennys. Then Mccain could grab a bite to eat at his normal time, in his normal place, and still do the debate.

  36. Chestnut Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 10:33 AM

It’s absurd to claim John McCain is afraid to debate the coward Barak Obama. The EEOC candidate shrank from McCain all summer in challenges to conduct town hall debates. Apparently, he hadn’t worked out the logistics for his teleprompter.

Barak Obama is a phony, cowardice idiot. Sad, stupid and pathetic.

  37. Chestnut Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 10:37 AM

Actually, I bet Barak Obama is throwing up in the bathroom right now:

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13970.html

  38. Leroy Jenkins Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 10:47 AM

Oh, I do hope they leave their floors in Oxford a little dusty, because Obama is about to wipe the floor with Cryptkeeper Mccain.

  39. Chestnut Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 10:51 AM

Maybe Barak can explain his plan to invade Pakistan.

Maybe Barak can explain how to get the UN Security Council to pass sanctions against Russia.

Maybe Barak Obama can finally admit how wrong he was when he predicted the surge would fail.

Maybe Barak Obama will be asked why he’s been wrong on every foreign policy issue that he has ever weighed in on.

Maybe Barak can explain why ant-Semitism plays such a pivotal role in his policy formation.

  40. Chestnut Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 11:03 AM

Maybe he can explain how lending legitimacy to terrorists and tyrants will advance America’s interests in the world.

  41. Troy Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 11:20 AM

    Leroy Jenkins said:

“Oh, I do hope they leave their floors in Oxford a little dusty, because Obama is about to wipe the floor with Cryptkeeper Mccain.”

I, uh, guess, um, we’ll, uh, have to, uh, see about that, um, tonight!

  42. Chestnut Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 6:18 PM

I wonder how many bald-faced lies Obama will tell tonight. I think he told a dozen in his stadium speech in Denver.

I also wonder how badly he’ll display is ignorance of history.

  43. Yoni C. Says:
    September 26th, 2008 at 10:04 PM

Maybe Barak can explain why ant-Semitism plays such a pivotal role in his policy formation.

what on earth are you talking about?
