AP: “DFLER, EX-STATE SENATOR BACKS NORM COLEMAN”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 29, 2008

“TOWER, MINN. – A former DFL legislator from northern Minnesota says he’s supporting Sen. Norm Coleman’s reelection bid.

Former state Sen. Doug Johnson of Tower says that Coleman is the first Republican he’s supported in more than 40 years.

Johnson says he’s still planning to vote for Democrats Barack Obama, Jim Oberstar and the DFL-endorsed candidates for the Legislature.” Source: Associated Press, September 28, 2008

Great news, except for the fact that he’s a huge lobbyist.

He does seem pretty bought and paid for.

    ROFLMAO!!!

    Thanks for the link, Aaron!!!

“I want to thank Senator Coleman for all he has done to make the Excelsior Energy’s Mesaba Energy Project a reality,” Johnson gushed in a May 2005 press release from Coleman’s office, just three months after he went on Excelsior Energy’s lobbying payroll. “Norm was decisive in including this provision in the last Energy Bill (emphasis added) which was unfortunately filibustered, he was key to getting Excelsior $36 million in Clean Coal Power Initiative funding last year, and today’s action of the Senate would not have happened without Norm’s leadership.”

Hmmm….“Norm was decisive in including this provision in the last Energy Bill….”

Smells like an earmark to me!

Why do you guys hate Northern Minnesota so much?

  5. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 10:51 AM

I love how MN Publius is attacking an Iron Ranger DFLer…their post is a keeper. Will we be hearing about the lobbyists that are supporting Franken?

  6. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 11:07 AM

Pete – how much coal is there on the range, to burn in that plant?

Or is that coal going to come from the Powder River Basin, in the home state of Dick Cheney?

  7. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 11:18 AM

Funny, liberal morons bitch because the voices in their heads think Coleman hasn’t done anything.

And here, Tommy — the lead idiot — is barking mad because someone credited Coleman for providing leadership on Minnesota energy future.

  8. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 11:29 AM

    Pete,
You forget that liberals are invested in retaining the miserable economic conditions on the Iron Range that have produced the political stranglehold they have on the region.

    Tommy,
Who gives a rat’s ass where the coal comes from. It probably will come from North Dakota, you dumb shit.

  9. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 12:26 PM

    Chestnut, you dumb(cheney).

CHENEY gives a rat’s ass where it comes from; the pigs lobbyists at DM&E give a rat’s ass where it comes from, the Mayo clinic gives a rat’s ass how it gets there and on and on and on.

But it’s no suprise a blind dipshit like you doesn’t see it.

  10. Bill Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 12:39 PM

To bad he is still voting for those other clowns – speaking of clowns, I see dumbass (TJ) has gone flip’g mad.

  11. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 12:41 PM

Really, dumb shit? The Mayo Clinic cares how coal gets to the Iron range? There are no train tracks from North Dakota to the Iron Range?

    Really?

Seriously, dumb shit, go put your car in the garage, shut the door, start the engine and take a nap.

    You’re that f’n stupid.

And still, who gives a rat’s ass.

  12. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 12:43 PM

BTW, why would Dick Cheney care about where a coal plant on the Iron range gets its coal?

Seriously Tommy, you’re so goddam stupid it’s beyond words.

  13. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 12:48 PM

Beyond that Tommy, thanks again for showing that Norm Coleman has been at the forefront providing leadership on Minnesota’s energy future. Thanks for showing that he has been at the forefront providing leadership to expand job opportunities in Minnesota and on the iron range. Thanks for showing that Norm Coleman has been on the forefront providing leadership for improving the lives of millions of Minnesotans.

Norm Coleman: A proven visionary providing proven leadership.

  14. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 12:49 PM

Tommy Johnson does a wonderful job of illustrating just how fucking stupid the entire DFL is.

  15. Troy Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 12:50 PM

    Tommy Johnson said:

“how much coal is there on the range, to burn in that plant?”

    and then:

“CHENEY gives a rat’s ass where it comes from; the pigs lobbyists at DM&E give a rat’s ass where it comes from, the Mayo clinic gives a rat’s ass how it gets there and on and on and on.”

So nobody cares where the coal comes from except Tommy Johnson? And your point in all this blathering is we should care? A lot?

  16. el presidente Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 12:56 PM

PBWL* and/or PBW/OL** may have bitten Johnson’s ankles.

  17. Pete Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 1:10 PM

At least the far left here has finally admitted they hate Northern Minnesota.

It isn’t about helping people help themselves it is about keeping them dependent on the DFL for their next meal.

Another good day to be a Republican!

  18. Average Joe Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 1:15 PM

He’s a lobbyist! He’s “bought and paid for!”

You guys really make me laugh. Like liberals aren’t owned and operated by lobbyists from Big Environment, Big Education, Big Trial Lawyer, Big Welfare, etc. etc.

Toxic Al’s going down – fast. He’s out of life lines and by mid-October won’t have two tax forms to rub together.

  19. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 1:19 PM

The squad of drooling Leftist idiots hate Northern and Western Minnesota. The only part of Minnesota they like are the welfare recipients inside the 494/694 loop.

The squad of drooling Leftist idiots hate economic growth. They hate cheap energy. They hate.

They’re blocking next-generation energy production such as clean coal on the Iron Range and the Big Stone II plant. Both projects will expand energy capacity in struggling economies. Both will provide inexpensive energy to their regions.

We have domestic supplies of fuels for these projects to last over 800 years.

Drooling liberal idiots, however, would rather we pay 400 percent more for electricity and reduce our quality of life.

Drooling liberal idiots, however, would rather divert the natural gas we need to heat our homes to electricity generation for their f’n iPods.

As your electricity and heating bills skyrocket, thank liberal dip shits like Tommy. Then kick them in the nads.

  20. Pete Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 1:27 PM

    Chestnut – I didn’t know liberals had nads…

  21. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 1:46 PM

Chestnut, as usual you’re proving that even though you can reach the steps of your shortbus, you’re still not smart enough to be on it.

gil gutknecht probably wishes he had paid more attention to the Mayo Clinic and DM&E.

    It’s a shame you simply don’t have a clue.

  22. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 2:00 PM

Please draw us a picture Tommy, and illustrate why coal traveling by rail from North Dakota would go to Rochester on its way to the Iron Range.

    You dumb fuck.

  23. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 2:09 PM

In fact, Tommy, you stupid, blind dumb shit, DM&E owns no rail roads in Northern Minnesota.

So, maybe it was the Professor in the Library with the Candlestick who is guilty.

Got any other stupid comments to make, you idiot?

  24. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 2:12 PM

And again, thank goodness for Norm Coleman. His visionary leadership and support for growing Minnesota’s energy future is attracting broad, bi-partisan support. His legendary ability to work with leaders on both sides of the aisle has attracted a key endorsement from a life-long Democrat, who has rejected Al Franken’s history of lies, hate and violence.

  25. Sonny Hooper Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 2:20 PM

I think it’s a very good idea to use coal for electricity again. Using natural gas will only make heat more expensive.

  26. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 2:42 PM

Chestnut, you’re a complete and total dumb(cheney). There are no coal fields anywhere near northern minnesota; just how the (cheney) do you think the coal is going to get to northern minnesota?

    http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1996/of96-092/doc.htm

Oh, wait – bootlickers like you don’t “think”; they “regurgitate.”

  27. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 3:45 PM

“There are no coal fields anywhere near northern minnesota”

    So what?

You’re the dip shit who brought up DM&E and the Mayo Clinic. And I guarantee you that neither of them are en route between North Dakota (where our coal comes from) and the Iron Range.

You do a wonderful job, Tommy, of demonstrating how absolutely stupid the DFL is.

  28. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 3:46 PM

And again, thank goodness for Norm Coleman. His visionary leadership and support for growing Minnesota’s energy future is attracting broad, bi-partisan support. His legendary ability to work with leaders on both sides of the aisle has attracted a key endorsement from a life-long Democrat, who has rejected Al Franken’s history of lies, hate and violence.

  29. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 3:50 PM

“just how do you think the coal is going to get to northern minnesota?”

I don’t really give a rat’s ass how it gets there. Why do you? Why do you hate Northern Minnesota? Why don’t you want people in Northern Minnesota to have electricity? Why do you want Norther Minnesota to continue to fail economically?

Why do you hate jobs and economic growth in Northern Minnesota Tommy, you goddam stupid piece of dog shit.

  30. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 3:53 PM

“just how do you think the coal is going to get to northern minnesota?”

Via the same path it takes to get there now… via rail, across the northern most route from North Dakota — where coal is mined — to the shipping terminals in Duluth.

How did your stupid, lying, hateful brain settle on a railroad in southern Minnesota and the Mayo Clinic?

Why are you soooooo fucking stupid, Tommy?

  31. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 4:00 PM

Tommy Johnson is quite possibly the most stupid, lazy, dishonest and idiotic jackass ever to grace the Internet.

    … THAT is saying something.

  32. Tommy Johnson Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 4:03 PM

Chestnut, you personally retired the title of the most stupid, laxy, dishonest and idiotic jackass to ever grace the internet a long time ago.

  33. Cash N. Carey Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 6:34 PM

Coal will get to northern Minnesota on the empty rail cars that deliver iron ore to Lake Superior. The coal will get to that port on empty ships that were used to transport iron ore the other direction. You liberals aren’t very smart are you?

Tommy must have graduated from a Minneapolis public school.

  34. BC Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 8:55 PM

It still seems to me that Chestnut must be Al Franken because of his foul language and his anger.

I thought conservatives love the free market as the prime mover. The Excelsior plant in NE MN requires federal grants as well as a requirement that Xcel purchase their high price energy product. The Excelsior project was started by well-connected former Xcel executives whose major expertise is working the political system. This project is pure and simple pork barrel, delivered by Norm to win the votes of people in NE MN.

  35. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 9:00 PM

“The Excelsior plant in NE MN requires federal grants as well as a requirement that Xcel purchase their high price energy product.”

Name me an over-regulated public utility that doesn’t. In utilities, there is no free market. Just ask wind farms and ethanol, which wouldn’t exist if they depended on smart investors to exist. Those are two “industries” that depend entirely on the stupidity of liberal bureaucracies for their existence.

  36. Chestnut Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 9:03 PM

“The Excelsior project was started by well-connected former Xcel executives whose major expertise is working the political system.”

Doesn’t change the fact that the Excelsior project will create jobs as well as upgrade the energy infrastructure of Northern Minnesota, preparing the economy there for the future — versus the economic disaster the DFL has delivered to the region.

  37. Maruit Says:
    September 29th, 2008 at 11:18 PM

    Chestwig,

Please show us evidence that the Iron Range needs additional energy production? Are it’s energy needs not currently being met? If they are, why would you put a plant up there, especially since they have no coal and it’s miles from most large population centers.

As to this dumbass comment “Doesn’t change the fact that the Excelsior project will create jobs as well as upgrade the energy infrastructure of Northern Minnesota, preparing the economy there for the future — versus the economic disaster the DFL has delivered to the region.”

Well tire burning plants create jobs, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea!

As for the economic disaster the DFL has delivered, I didn’t know that the DFL determines Steel and Iron Ore prices or that they control the Timber market. Man that DFL has some power to control the prices of raw materials! They probably control the grade of ore too!

Sorry to say Chestwig, but your just as dumb as all the others on here.

  38. Chestnut Says:
    September 30th, 2008 at 6:06 AM

    Maruit,
Please show us evidence that the Iron Range doesn’t need additional energy production?

“Are it’s energy needs not currently being met?”

Apparently. And since not, it’s a great place to put a new energy plant.

… and the DFL has DESTROYED the Iron Range economy by making it too expensive to keep jobs there.

You’re apparently, just another abjectly stupid, economic growth hating, communist asshole DFLer.
