AP: “RAMSTAD: DEMS USING ‘GUTTER POLITICS’ IN MINN.”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 7, 2008
“ST. PAUL, Minn. – Retiring U.S. Rep. Jim Ramstad lashed out at Democrat Ashwin Madia on Tuesday over attacks on Madia’s opponent, Republican Erik Paulsen.
Madia and Paulsen are running to succeed Ramstad in Minnesota’s suburban 3rd District, which includes most of the western suburbs of Minneapolis. Ramstad, a Republican who represented the district for 18 years, is heading Paulsen’s campaign.
Holding up Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee mailing that links Paulsen to a Las Vegas strip club where another Republican raised campaign money, Ramstad accused Madia and his allies of engaging in ‘gutter politics’ to smear Paulsen.
‘I’ve never seen such scurrilous pieces,’ Ramstad said at a Capitol news conference.
Madia’s campaign did not return phone messages from The Associated Press. A spokeswoman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee had no immediate comment.” Source: Associated Press, October 7, 2008

WAIT!!!
Republicans are crying foul about a ‘guilt-by-association’ campaign tactic?!?!?!
Jimminey Christmas!
for the Chestnut-types, I’m making a reference to this whole Ayers thing and Obama. The only connection is a coffee held at Ayers house, hosted by outgoing Senator Alice Palmer, that Obama was featured at. The attendees? Doctors, professors, cops, lawyers and business people. The usualy array of terrorists. The Chicago press and New York Times have proven this to be true.
October 7th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
That’s the funniest thing you’ve ever written David J. Ziegler. Even funnier than your resume.
October 7th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
So, I presume this means that MnGOP was in the gutter when they went after Madia for taking money from Rangel? Right Michael?
Another day and Madia is talking about the issues whereas Paulsen is having others talking about non-issues. Paulsen can’t even face the press himself.
Keep on running a crappy campaign MnGOP.

You got a name ChinNuts? You like mine so much, why don’t you take it? We’ll call you Junior.

“The only connection is a coffee held at Ayers house, hosted by outgoing Senator Alice Palmer, that Obama was featured at.”
That’s such an unbelievable crock of bullshit, it could only come from Ziggy dog shit.
Not only was Obama’s entire political career launched in the terrorist’s living room, he served on many boards with the terrorist, spoke and numerous events with the terrorist, and was introduced to every one of his beginning political connections in the corrupt Chicago political machine by the terrorist, Bill Ayers.
Not only is the coffee in the living room not the only connection between Barak Obama, EEOC candidate and man of consistently terrible judgment, it is among the most significant connections that illustrate just how in bed and dependent Barak Obama is on his best-friend Bill Ayers the terrorist.
You’re so fucking stupid DJZ, you should sue your parents for malpractice.

“The only connection is a coffee held at Ayers house, hosted by outgoing Senator Alice Palmer, that Obama was featured at.â€
Even CNN said that wasn’t true (last night). That state senator was there for ten minutes, had nothing to do with hosting it and nothing to do with planning it. This was planned and hosted by The Terrorist for The Petition Collector.
October 7th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
The insinuation by David J. Ziegler, the racist who often posts here, that ““The only connection is a coffee held at Ayers house, hosted by outgoing Senator Alice Palmer, that Obama was featured at” is breathtakingly dishonest.
In FACT, Obama and the Terrorist, Bill Ayers are deeply connected friends who share political beliefs. Ayers launched his political career. Ayers elevated him to board after board after board in Chicago… and Obama steered millions to Ayers and his anti-American causes.
It is a fucking joke that they are mere acquaintances.
Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn “launched him — introduced him to the Hyde Park community as the best thing since sliced bread.’”
From March Of 1995 Until September Of 1997, Obama And Ayers Attended At Least Seven Meetings Together Relating To The Chicago Annenberg Challenge. (Chicago Annenberg Challenge, Board Of Directors Meeting, Minutes Of The Board, 3/15/95, 3/31/95, 4/13/95, 6/5/95, 9/30/97; National Annenberg Challenge Evaluation Meeting, List Of Participants, 5/24/95; Chicago Annenberg Challenge, Chicago School Reform Collaborative Meeting, Minutes, 10/23/96)
In 1997, Obama Praised Ayers’ Book On The Juvenile Justice System. “The two men were involved in efforts to reform the city’s education system. They appeared together on academic panels, including one organized by Michelle Obama to discuss the juvenile justice system, an area of mutual concern. Mr. Ayers’s book on the subject won a rave review in The Chicago Tribune by Mr. Obama, who called it ‘a searing and timely account.’” (Jo Becker and Christopher Drew, “Pragmatic Politics, Forged On The South Side,” The New York Times, 5/11/08)
“[Obama And Ayers] Have Also Appeared Jointly On Two Academic Panels, One In 1997 And Another In 2001.” (Russell Berman, “Obama’s Ties To Left Come Under Scrutiny,” The New York Sun, 2/19/08)
“Their paths have crossed sporadically since then, at a coffee Mr. Ayers hosted for Mr. Obama’s first run for office, on the schools project and a charitable board, and in casual encounters as Hyde Park neighbors.”

Jesus, could McCain say one more groaner during this debate? We are watching the final nail being driven into the coffin tonight. Who was this guys’ debate coach?
October 7th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
The terrorist Bill Ayers and the EEOC candidate Barak Obama were partners in the Chicago Annenburg Challenge (CAC), an organization whose mandate was the reformation of Chicago’s public schools.
Ayers was the founder of CAC, and oversaw the Obama’s appointment as CAC’s first board chairman. He served in that capacity for four years
Ayers then sat as an ex-officio member of the board Obama chaired through CAC’s first year. He also served on the board’s governance committee with Obama. The two worked together to craft CAC bylaws.
To be clear, Ayers recruited Obama to the board, and they worked closely together for over four year.
Ayers then helped put Obama in the top position of an organization that distributed more than $100 million into the hands of community organizers and radical activists. Ayers collaborated with Obama in determining how to distribute this money.
During this period, Ayers co-chaired something called the “Collaborative,” which worked with Obama’s group to shape education policy. In essence Ayers formulated the policy that would inform the distribution of funds; Obama headed the body that distributed the money accordingly.
After the Collaborative lost its “operational role,” Obama’s board continued to adhere to the grant policies he and Ayers had put in place.
No honest person would describe the Ayers-Obama relationship as passing. Ayers was Obama’s partner in the distribution of large sums of money for public policy purposes. Ayers is someone with whom Obama did exchange ideas — Ayers spoke to Obama’s board; Obama spoke to Ayers’ board — on vital policy matters.
The policies Obama and Ayers put in place to “reform education” were policies that sent money to programs that promoted radicalism, and devalued science and math — academic studies.
Probably this is why the cause of Obama’s ONLY executive experience was such a massive failure. Not only did academic achievement NOT improve, it fell backward.
Obama brought “change” to education all right. He made it “change” from bad to worse for inner city kids.
The bottom line are these facts:
- Obama had a long-term working relationship with the terrorist William Ayers.
- The Chicago Annenberg Challenge (“CAC”), the only executive experience on Obama’s resume, was an objective failure despite the expenditure of millions of dollars.
- Through the CAC, Ayers and Obama financed radical organizations, including one with a history of engaging in voter fraud.
Obama doesn’t just “pal around with” terrorists, he’s been a long-time supporter of their causes, funding their radicalism to the tune of millions of dollars.
The individuals with home the EEOC candidate has surrounded himself… the individuals who are his closest friends, advisers and mentors, are an incredible scandal.
Obama is the least accomplished, least prepared, most dishonest, inexperienced, morally challenged fraud ever to run for President. He is an ignorant individual who excels only at exercising poor judgment. Obama is wrong on EVERY policy issue facing this country domestic and foreign.
It is an embarrassment to this country that he is seriously considered, and it is a testament to the racism of the Democrat party that they are advancing this dope for President.

All right folks…let keep the comments focused on the subject of the post.

Bah haw yuck yuck bawhawhwahaeBah haw yuck yuck bawhawhwahaeBah haw yuck yuck bawhawhwahae!
Thanks for the laugh , I almost thought you were using cBS as a credible source, next time quote dUH underground and really go for the laughs !

Flat out stupendous series of posts Chestnut! I agree with Michael that we do need to get back on topic ONLY after DJZ trots out his cogent response with detailed references. This should be good!
October 7th, 2008 at 10:38 pm
“Even CNN said that wasn’t trueâ€
( still laughing MAOF)
October 7th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Thanks… I can’t take credit for all the research, but the strength of Obama’s relationship and dependence on the terrorist William Ayers are well documented, just not well published by the press who prefers to turn a blind eye to the EEOC candidate for whom they are completely and utterly in the tank.
Don’t stay awake all night waiting for David J. Ziegler to rise from his drunken stupor long enough to bleat another unintelligible, dishonest response.
To Michael’s point: Sure thing. Madia and his supporters are part of the problem with politics. He, like Al Franken and most every Democrat in the last three cycles, has run a dishonest, despicable campaign. He’s a goddam liar. And he’s poised to increase the concentration of the toxic poison within our government.

I love how the ad KSTP relies on to show that Madia has gone negative isn’t even a Madia ad.. it’s a DCCC. Jesus KSTP, do you have any fact checkers in your editor corp.
Also, I love how Team Paulsen make their talking point … their ONLY talking point that Madia is negative and then they release their Madia is a liar ad.
Man, I though Paulsen’s internals were bad, but, to have to come out with that ad tells me they see this race as a blowout for Madia unless they go after him.
October 7th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
… interestingly, Paulsen won’t even own up the liar ad by including it on his website.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:14 am
Ramstad & Madia Agree on Mailings
Ramstad: Condemns DCCC mailings
Madia: Condemns DCCC mailings
Paulsen: Approves NRCC mailings
Congressman Ramstad, thanks for supporting Ashwin’s position on inaccurate 3rd party mailings and TV ads.
Why does Erik Paulsen disagree with his “mentor”?
Ramstad & Madia also agree that it’s time to get back to the issues important to middle class families.
Madia: A Positive Message for Change
October 8th, 2008 at 7:44 am
Seems to me that both of them need these attack ads because they have nothing much to offer. Maybe it is time we get a true Independent in office. At least Dillon is keeping it clean and wants to keep things focused on the issues. The Democ(rats) and Republi(cons) keep wanting to have a food fight that will keep right on going once they go to Washington. I am tired of all of this crap. I’m voting Dillon. Someone with real answers and not bought and paid for by special interests.
October 8th, 2008 at 9:13 am
Let’s get down to brass tacks…the press is gonna start turning on Madia, soon. It seems like everytime something big happens, they’re nowhere to be found. That’s bad practice and it’s gonna start showing.
October 8th, 2008 at 9:41 am
Those brass tacks? Yeah, well, if we were to get down to them, the media would notice that Eric Paulsen has run a campaign devoid of substance, hoping that the voters will pick the sitting legislator over the upstart. This calculated risk was necessitated by the fact that Paulsen is far right of the average voter in the third, so he is hoping that if he trots our Ramstad a few times, the voters will get tricked into voting him into office.
The problem with this theory is, Madia has campaigned, and campaigned well. He has painted Paulsen into the corner, and now in desperation, Paulsen is finally starting to campaign.
Madia wins this one easy, further entrenching the theory of the Michael Brodkorb political kiss of death. Two years ago, his failed tactics helped save the state from Senator Mark Kennedy. Now, he is helping save us from Congressman Eric Paulsen.
October 8th, 2008 at 9:42 am
“Let’s get down to brass tacks…the press is gonna start turning on Madia, soon. It seems like everytime something big happens, they’re nowhere to be found. That’s bad practice and it’s gonna start showing.”
What the hell are you talking about, Michael’s been plastering his board with press coverage of the “bad” things that have happened to Madia’s campaign.
If the press is going to turn, we’re going to get a Palin effect with Paulsen. Eventually they are going to paint him as the issue dodger that he is. Like Palin, Paulsen doesn’t understand the issues and refuses to talk to anyone about them. Like Palin, he gets slaughtered in the debates because of that lack of understanding. And, like Palin, he apparently can only attack Madia. THE ONLY POSITION I HAVE SEEN IN A PAULSEN AD TO DATE IS “he’s for lower taxes.” Everything else has been an attack on Madia or a hokey story about how he goes tot he bathroom in outhouses.
October 8th, 2008 at 10:16 am
I love how Michael has disabled comments on all of his recent pro Paulsen posts. He must br frustrated with everyone (including Chestnut) pointing out how horribly he’s directing that campaign.
But, I’m guessing we’re going to get YET ANOTHER day of the Paulsen talking point being Ashwin is a meanie given, yet again, the stock market is tanking (notably, it’s already started). Has Paulsen said a SINGLE WORD about the state of the world markets since last week when he said he didn’t support the bailout Ramstad voted for?
October 8th, 2008 at 10:28 am
Mouth,
What the hell are you talking about. Comments have not been disabled on any section of MDE.

“Their paths have crossed sporadically since then, at a coffee Mr. Ayers hosted for Mr. Obama’s first run for office, on the schools project and a charitable board, and in casual encounters as Hyde Park neighbors.â€
You read your last paragraph Cheesy?
Nobody denied they served on a board together. That’s all you have up there.
William Ayers. Aside from being a spoiled privileged suburban pus of a man, he was involved with the Weathermen. Somehow, like most rich people, he was pardoned and never convicted of anything. At the time Anneberg chose leaders for this board, he was an associate professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago; co-director of the Small Schools Workshop; co-director of the Chicago Forum for School Change—an affiliate of the Coalition of Essential Schools; chairman of the Alliance for Better Chicago Schools (ABCs) coalition; former Chicago assistant deputy mayor for education (1989–1990)

He is currently chair of an activist coaltion, the Alliance for Better Chicago Schools (ABCs).â€
So, Barack commented on a book this guy wrote. Its hard to argue that he’s not an expert (and terrorist for argument sake).
Barack was a part time instructor at a school that had over 400 instructors. Ayers was there too.
They live in the same neighborhood of the school. Not unusual for any old school University.
Ayers saw what a majority of voters in that state senate district, state of Illinois, the Democratic Party and now the USA see, Barack Obama is a rare talent that can bring solutions and peace where needed. There is no proof of why he recruited him but, if he did, he’s got an eye for talent. On paper he saw:
Barack Obama, civil rights attorney at Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland; lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School; member of the board of directors of the Joyce Foundation and the Woods Fund of Chicago; winner, Crain’s Chicago Business 40 Under 40 award, 1993; former president of the Harvard Law Review (1990–1991); former executive director of the Developing Communities Project.
Not a bad choice.
The program did not make huge changes but did record not only progress of schools but failures. What it appears is that the public school system doesn’t work well when ran by private entities, non-profit or not. Public private partnerships go bad when the private sector tries to run it like a ‘business’.
Oh, and Anneberg? He was a right wing Republican who funded many of the yappers on am Right Wing radio we hear today during the 80’s and 90’s. He was a good friend and major funder of that blunder of President Ronald Reagan.
That’s your terrorist.
Now, you want to talk about McCain and his direct connections to anti-Semitic, racist groups?
DJZ
“Keating Five is the extent of McCain’s economic knowledge.”
October 8th, 2008 at 11:14 am
Whew! I’m tired.
Good news is, if McCain wins, I can stop paying my mortgages for a while and let the government buy them out and give me a lower payment. WT?!?!?! Anyone else smell desperation?
October 8th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
LOL… nice try David. The FACTs are that Ayers put Obama in every position of power he had in Chicago. Obama and Ayers have collaborated deeply on political projects. And Obama not only has a relationship with Ayers, he shares Ayers’ radical terrorist beliefs.
The characterization of their relationship as “passing” is phony bullshit.
Obama was in full knowledge of Ayers terrorist inclinations, he collaborated with Ayers on their shared political agenda, and he is dependent on Ayers for most every one of his political connections.
That’s the facts. Obama can lie all he wants. He’s good at it. The EEOC is the most unaccomplished, unprepared, ignorant, dishonest and morally corrupt person EVER to run for president.
And you can deny it all you want to. Racist fucks like you deny a lot of truth to justify your bigotry.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
“Somehow, like most rich people, he was pardoned and never convicted of anything. ”
He was never pardoned. The evidence against him was thrown out because of a bad search by police.
He was never pardoned. Your so fucking stupid you don’t know when your lies end and your ignorance begins.
October 8th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Paulsen’s new ad points out Madia first said he voted for Gore and then later admitted he voted for Bush in 2000. Madia did this to gain the endorsemtn and win over the liberal democrats in the third. Has he ever said who he voted for in 2004? If so please provide a link.
October 9th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
So what schmoe?
If he wasn’t pardoned and IS a bomber, why didn’t the system go after him OJ style? Surely someone’s civil rights were violated with his terroristic actions.
See if you can answer that without being such a blue collar foul mouth.
