KSTP STORY ON RAMSTAD BLASTING “GUTTER POLITICS” FROM DEMOCRATS CATCHES MADIA IN LIE ABOUT CAMPAIGN ADS

By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 7, 2008

This is a great story from KSTP about Congressman Jim Ramstad’s press conference today where Ramstad blasted the campaign tactics of Ashwin Madia and the DCCC.  KSTP also caught Madia lying about his campaign’s negative TV ads. It takes guts to look into the camera and lie, but Madia did it and got busted.

This is a reminder that I am a part-time research consultant to Erik Paulsen for Congress. Minnesota Democrats Exposed is my personal blog and it is not created, endorsed, sponsored, or authorized by any political party, candidate, or candidate’s committee.

Then the very same day, Erik Paulsen’s campaign comes out with one of the nastiest and most shameless negative attack ads I’ve seen this cycle. Great work, Michael.

Aaron calls it nasty and shameless because the ad is true.

I liked how the Madia ad that they showed was actually not one of his ads that was “approved by Madia” so the point that the journalist made is totally shallow. Madia was explaining the difference between campaign approved and DCCC ads. Nice catch KSTP.

    “Liberal media at its finest.”

    Aaron: You’re a liar.

Nice one, the words DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSIONAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE ARE CLEAR AS DAY!

    Good night and good luck!

One can’t help but notice at 1:04 of the video, the meeting between Rahm Immanuel, of the DCCC, with Madia. I am sure the discussion was about campaign strategy for which Madia probably gave approval for any suggested tactics the DCCC would employ. Surrogates can do a lot if they are informed what the candidate would like to have happen since the candidate is “closer” to the district demographics.

The story did no such thing.

Madia said that he stands behind any ad that has his name and voice saying he approved this message.

If this is all the spin you have left, it is no wonder they republicans have given up on Paulsen and are now trying to save Bachmann.

Emanuel was at a press conference with Madia talking about the issues again, about how to help small business with the problems they face, among others the high cost or lack of available health insurance. By the way, his tax cut for folks making under $250,000.00 per year net includes about 98.6 % of all small business owners. Sorry for that top 1-2 % of earners that might not continue their lovely tax breaks, but I think they can afford it…they do make their money on the backs of hard working middle class people, and these are the folks that will vote Madia into Congress. By the way, tell Ramstad to take a sedative and call me in the morning, I thought he was going to have a stroke!

“Madia, that LIAR, is engaging in negative campaigning!!!”

    ROFLMAO!!!

Of course, it does help cover up the bad news that the National Republican Congressional Committee cancelled an ad buy for Paulsen….

I respect Congressman Ramstad’s decision to support Madia’s position on the DCCC mailings and TV ads. Both have condemned them.

When will Erik Paulsen wake up and realize that voters in the Third want him to debate the issues with Ash? I guess I’m not complaining, but is sure is puzzling…

Leroy Jenkins, keep believing that policy/statement and I have some sunny, sandy, beach front property in the Artic
    Circle to sell you.

Rainman-”Sorry for that top 1-2% of earners that might not continue their lovely tax breaks.” Wow. So you belive that the top 1%, who pay almost 40% of all income taxes, have a ” lovely tax break”? And that the bottom 50% of wage earners, who pay only about 3% of total income taxes, need more of a break? I just don`t understsnd that, but of course I went pass 2nd grade arithmatic.

  14. rainman Says:
    October 8th, 2008 at 9:18 PM

Who do you think makes these top 1-2 % earners their money…the bottom 98%. Try making the money they do without the rest of us. Madia isn’t giving the bottom more of a break, he’s merely making a rational policy to try and help main street, not wall street and balance the budget. What’s Paulsen’s big plan…keep giving tax breaks to CEO’s and others that continue to take unearned stock options, close plants, and farm more jobs overseas? If this appeals to you maybe you should find some nice farmland and build a commune with large walls so you and the rest of the ultra right wingers don’t have to live with the other 98%…sounds like a good idea to me…when can you start building?

    October 9th, 2008 at 4:17 PM

Yeah!! Tax those big business guys!! Yeah. Nobody works for them or buys their products. Oh, wait. Nevermind…

Rainman, go back to watching judge wopner.

“Try making the money they do without the rest of us. Madia isn`t giving the bottom more of a break…” Right, and “the rest of us” more than likely wouldn`t have the jobs we do without “them.” And here`s the second grade math again- If he raises the rates on the top earners, then by simple math he is giving the bottom a break-by not raising their rates because he took the money from the top.
